  1. Another quality farang tourist arrives. sad.png

I keep posting this comment, can I have it "pinned"...........clap2.gif

And the mystery deepens as to why Thais don't think of farangs as role models to emulate. Haven't finished this thread yet, but I'm sure someone will blame his behavior on Thais and Thailand.

thailand too hot ?, jetski mafia stole his wallets, then thai ladyboy fleeced the rest when he fell asleep in his short time room,

  2. Pongsapas said police had been closely monitoring the two suspects for some time before making an arrest.

Had all of this heroin found its way onto the streets of Australia, it would have been worth more than three billion baht, said Pongsapas.

Australians, for once in your lives, be grateful to the Thai Police.thumbsup.gif

why? the delayed the arrival of 147 keys for 3 weeks? And put up the price another 20%? And the skips'll have to be doing cold water washes of Nurofen Plus for another month? 55555

actually, the heroin epidemic in Australia of the late 1990's was terrible due to its devastation on a generation of kids - it wiped out a lot of ravers who should have otherwise been growing up and leading normal lives. It was possible to buy a rock for 800thb off the street 24/7, cheaper and easier to procure than alcohol or weed.

at least it was shorter lived than the ice problem.

OK OK well done BIB (when the Aussie Feds ring emup and spoon feed them)

  3. what happened to the good old thai sticks, and sitting down listening to reggae? This is awful. Idiot kids get into chroming everywhere, but the threat of violence is a great concern. I understand inhalants are not addictive, but indicative of an attitude which either devil may care. I don't know much about this one though.

  4. Hold on... she bought a car without first asking, which will cost you bt10,000 a month, and now you want to give her more money to set up a business??. I think you are asking the wrong questions, and possibly not thinking straight blink.png

    totster smile.png

Are you implying op is an IdIoT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this isnt politicallly correct i apologize. But its true!

I'd accept fool. as by definition a fool and his money are soon parted. But why idiot?

Ahhh.... as you think I could not rely on her financial reporting. Yeah well that is a reason I would be looking at low startup costs and low risk venture

  5. So girl has had failed business ventures before. How did she get those financed? Was other farang s involved?

I think we dealing with a bargirl businesswoman here.......................lol. They really know how to start a business going but have no idea how to keep em going. They profit from the foolish-ness of the men who actually think they want to run a business.

She got a car she doesnt need to pay for. Why she want to run a business?

I JUST dont get the mindset of the men.

There is a thread running over in general about Thais being the most illogical people. The op just proved that isn't true.

Your cat's breath smell's like catfood. (ur sig)

Wow - logic is really taking you a long way.

But point taken anyway, for what it's worth. It is illogical to expect someone to want to be assisted in going out and making a bit of money through a creative outlet grounded in a financial market.

Or please explain to me the lack of logic if I am missing your point - maybe I actually am illogical. (By the way, humour I appreciate is illogical. I love the absurd)

Wrong, Nope, not a bargirl. But I think of the same demographic that seems to produce most bar girls, so your comment on ensuring ongoing commitment it taken.

Nope, no other foreigner involved in the previous venture. Not that it is relevant to this post. How does anyone finance their first major venture? A bit of family backing and bank finance. <EDIT - deleted a nasty comment - i just figured you might be a female by your last sentence, and I try not to talk down to ladies> If ur a guy let me know and I will edit the jibe back in.

Previous source of finance is also (unfortunately) irrelevant to this post, as the assets backing the first business venture (which was a much larger commitment than a few Tee's) have unfortunately been lost to her family. But I am looking forward to helping get them back, and more.

She has been burnt in the past losing money through business, so is "twice shy" at the moment, but with some guidance in running a business, some backing and monitoring, a good business plan and a low risk venture that can slowly ramp up, I am hoping she might get back on the horse.

Why does she want to run a business? Why does anyone want to run a business? Pride, Money, Fun, social interaction. But it is a good point. It is vitally important I ensure she is motivated before I start throwing money into a venture. The previous business was doing an activity she loved - food - and this would require a different motivation.

So your troll did have some merit behind it (which is why I love TV so much)

  7. I think someone selling "I Survived the Flood of 2011" T-shirts could have had a narrow time window to make a small fortune- back in 2011.

Some variation of "I Survived the Bangkok Shutdown", in sizes for foreigners would have sold like hotcakes last month on Suk.

Getting custom printed T's isn't difficult and the markup potential is great. But, as others have pointed out- you'll be copied almost immediately, so there's a small window to make the dough, then move on to the next design.

Pick up the newspaper, see if there's anything a tourist would consider T-shirt worthy, get them printed that week in small quantities, strike while the iron's hot, then move on.

I had a buddy in California who made great money doing just that. But his graphic arts skills were also amazing.

Right now, I'm thinking "Songkran 2014", or "Songkran 2557". I suspect we'll see bazillions of "Songkran" T-shirts, but none with the date, (so they can roll out the stale inventory next year and the year after...) Whatever you don't sell on the street, put them on EBay for the tourists that missed you while they were in country.

Great feedback. Good thing about limited runs is it limits expenditure too. Can't imagine her working songkran tho. Or selling wet tee shirts

  8. If this isn't exiting, I don't know what is. We all have the privilege to witness another formation of another Farang/Thai Business venture.

.......................different place, different actors, same story. Yawn !

    Cheers.

your exciting post was a lost opportunity for creative input. I am as yet unsure if my OP was rhetorical and a vent, or a genuine request for information. I suspect both.. See above ^^, with your cynical attitude I would be very surprised if you would not buy a Tee Shirt as displayed above. Yawn ! Bleerrrt (that was me seeing your yawn and raising you a wet fart)

  9. Yet another member of the biggest (and apparently still growing!) ATM network in the word, the "farang walking ATM network".

    yep

    you saw it here first.

making her go and sell these on the street for 300 THB to farang has a kind of poetic justice.

And tell me any of you would not shell out for one of these rippers!!!!

I might follow it up. the only flaw is that it is specifically tailored to the expat market - not the 65 million thai population.

I am in OZ, and will be for a while. Work commitments. My GF bounces back and forth. We will marry, I will get her a work permit for here, and then I will unleash her som tam skills into the local food market, where I think she will rake it in. But until I can get that sorted, I am open for ideas as to how a girl who has had failed Thai businesses might get ahead without too much risk.

Great idea about getting her into basic accounting practices.

Great idea about BBQ - but will save that for OZ

I am eyes wide open as to the liberties this girl is taking, but she has the charms to get away with it (nearly)

I should really have kept this design under wraps.....(I prefer kasikorn bank really but this is a prototype) but i couldn't keep it to myself.

If any of you jump on this idea and make a fortune, well once again it was my own dumass fault for running my mouth off and good luck to you. post-161889-0-92410800-1395492035_thumb.

  10. First off lets do a little analysis......Since "Scarpolo's" limited experience in Thailand has mostly to do with dating for a few months a "high-end" soapy Prostitute and since this is his post it would seem to be geared toward sex trade women....

Just how many Thai women are involved in the Sex trade? A little research shows that although the number varies according to various polls.....200,000 to 300,000 is probably a good estimate. Population of Thailand is about 67 million with about half being women.....Sooooo 33.5 million women! So .006 percent of Thai Women work in the Sex industry and Scarpo's interaction with that segment.....Well obviously WAY LESS

My point is that after 6 months in Thailand with limited interaction .....the generalizations made by the OP ......well preposterous !!!

    So as said before......Post read.....moving on coffee1.gif

Where do you get this crazy assumption from ???????????????

This is laugable and u must be very embarrased by this statement

One thing you forgot in your calculation, where are the children/babies, u numpty heheheheheheheheh. Some say thais are uneducated, your statement brings in a whole new ball game about education, unless u are 6 years old lol lol.

Apparently its beyond your capability to "google" ....# of women in Thailand sex trade industry!

    cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

your all forgetting the 400,000 plus trafficked children in the thai sex trade

Sex Industry in Thailand in wikipedia

could there really be twice as many child slaves as voluntary female working girls?

easy to find various orders of figures online

  11. So the GF just informed me she bought a car which is going to cost me another 10K thb per month.

I would like her to supplement my contributions, and she assures me that if it would pay, she would not mind working, She is entrepreneurial minded, so I am thinking of assisting her with a business that I can contribute content too, low overheads, low risk etc etc etc.

Any input regarding selling nice quality printed T-Shirts? Its an obvious one, I am sure it is tight, but I have a couple of designs I reckon would be hotcakes.

    Is there a T-Shirt mafia?

She could sell to stall owners, or direct to farang - I need to talk to her about her preferences. I thought hawking off the street for some quick cash, then get into distributing. Is this insanity?

Are the stall sellers owners - ie do they purchase or just sell provided stock from the stalll owners. Somehow I feel there must be 2 or 3 Tshirt bigwigs, and anyone else selling Tees gets trodden on, but I just don't know.

Any suggestions for locally prionted Tees, or do I need to buy thousands from Bangladesh, just to see my designs on the street by the time I get back?

At least it is a low startup cost to give it a go. Make $500 tees and give em to her to flog.

  12. For my part, I am absolutely mortified to admit that if I chased seven Changs with seven double shots of Lao Kaow I would do the same thing.

However in my own particular case I would be chasing Hoegarten's with Maker's Mark doubles and my Miss Durian (Rayong 1998) MBA B Eng. Benz-driving hi-so white-skinned wife would be standing by ordering our maid to clean up the barf, right ?

And, of course, unlike many of the grumpier, more serious critics of our TV posts . . . . . I would likely be (like) LIVING HERE most of the time. :-)

    "Sometimes, 'fuggedabowdit' just means fuggedabowdit."

you cant eat durian when drunk - it can kill you

  13. Only you can decide this. Really at the end of the day, the attraction you have to this lady sounds like its worth being with her from your point of view.. .and problems worth solving.

I could not possibly overlay this with my own experiences. My partner of 7 years is much much much younger and will do anything I say. It seems from the generosity of her heart. I have always satisfied women first. However many partnerships can exist where sex is not the criteria of everything. If she is willing to satisfy you, I would let her. Even if you get it somewhere else if you have to.

As a therapist, I would find it a challenge to say the least and you never know, it could be karmic, it could be physical or even a childhood experience she has hidden in her psyche.

Gently is as gently does. If you are serious in your caring and must have your needs met, then talk to her about it.

Life is not necessarily a problem. It can be an adventure.

Try de-sexualising the erotic and or spiritual and or sensual experience. That is, start with getting in touch with her sensually, instead of sexually.

I was going to say she needs the right drugs to really get her kundalini going......

but having read Maggu's post I need to agree, foster the intimacy slowly, introduce her to an addiction to the day to day physical, stolen glances, caresses, personal interactions driven by immutable attraction.

In my younger days a relationship with a GF as yet unable to achieve orgasm lasted a bit over a year before i was so deflated I gave up. She did tell me that I had taught her sex could be fun tho......

    choose your battles wisely

  14. I'm stuck in OZ for songkran - still never managed to be in TL for Songkran. Was going to go this time but after recently paying off the GF's 1millionfund village loan from 8 years ago because this year Yingluck said they could not reborrow, after paying hospital bill for GFs fathers grandson from a previous mia, and buying a block of land off the aunt to help her out, I am grounded :(

so your plea is falling on deaf ears.

enjoy it, you know you will

  15. so what is the general feeling about the Thai politics in TV - i actually find it hard to ascertain.....

Talking broad sweeping general generalities, is it

Against Shinanwatra Gov't but also against Suthep Anti Gov't yellow shirt protestor, but also against pro Gov't redshirts, and ambivalent to the opposition Abhisit (being somewhat more urbane, but not necessarily less corrupt?)

  16. Don't Forget to Pay the Sin-Sot again either............................clap2.gifclap2.gif

in India the parents of the bride pay the sin sot!

And that information is relevant because of ...................What

He is married to a Thai...Not an Eskimo.....or an Indian

In Alaska Sin Sod is paid with liquified whale blubber contained in double stitched seal skins
