Quite satisfying to watch the fools who cheered this pathetic grift on slink back to their holes. Can anyone think of any pro-Trump poster who managed to maintain a shred of credibility after this? -

Aw, your whitewashed world has been deprived of even more dominance by straight white male characters! How difficult for you to be able to find someone who represents you on the screen, in politics, in business...have some chamomile tea, poppet.-

"The diplomatic source identified Oman and Indonesia as two countries with which talks have advanced and with whom normalization could be announced before US President Donald Trump leaves office on January 20."
Incredible. Thank you Sir.
Well, that's Israel sorted then! Once the Omani and Indonesian dominoes fall, it's going to be all love and flowers between Israel and the ones who are actually engaged in conflict with them! Oh, and <deleted> to whomever was on the receiving end of this little deal and whatever fallout occurs from that because, you know, Trump and his companies have no interest in a globalist agenda as you know...
You're not actually this naive, you're just pretending, I understand. It's going to be a difficult time for you, and you need to cling to something. Isn't it time you started to pretend to care about the deficit and overreach of presidential power?-

You are aware that Biden was ALSO a part of the leadership of the Obama team, right? And that Team, whether you liked it or not, successfully administrated the USA for 8 years without, it seems, hardly anyone going to jail or being convicted of criminal charges. So yes, he's choosing people from his own team from the time when he was the #2 guy at the White House. Should hardly be a surprise.
By the way, as a progressive, I'm by no means pleased either with Biden or his appointments. But compared to the alternative, what choice does the USA have? Gotta give the Republicans credit, they managed to shift the entire USA political spectrum so far to the Right since Reagan that even a moderate Democrat like Biden is actually a solidly Right-Wing politician in practically every other comparable first world democracy. Listening to the "radical Marxists" nonsense while living and actually working in a Marxist country has been giving me a daily dose of cognitive dissonance.-

I suspect you're right. After 4 years of hard core conspiracy theories and trumped up charges (pun intended!), it seems likely that many Trump supporters out of the 70m+ that voted for him won't want to shake hands and make up.
Biden has 47 years experience to call on - and he's gonna need every second of it if he's to stand any chance. Especially given the more radical nature of some of those in the Congress and Senate who will be expecting more radical policy implementation. He's got one hell of a challenge to juggle that lot!
And, other countries with "interests" in the US not being stable aren't going to suddenly stop their interference just because a new POTUS is in place.
Classic! You have managed to completely contradict yourself in 3 sentences! First, you say "4 years of hard core conspiracy theories and trumped up charges" then you say "other countries with "interests" in the US not being stable aren't going to suddenly stop their interference"! LOL!
You can't make stuff up with you guys, black is white is up is down is right is left. How do you manage to function as a human with the massive amount of cognitive dissonance in your head? -

Good reporting by the original author. First it claims that the dead man was "identified" and then the report concludes that the police are still trying to identify the same deceased man!
He was identified as being unidentified? I guess for a brief period the driver was a UFO.

Yes, new and practical approaches, just what we're going to get from an ossified relic of the past like Chuan Leekpai, who was famous for doing absolutely nothing but talk when he was PM. I'm sure that this marvelous new committee will have everything sorted and a practical plan for reconciliation that makes everyone happy, even without the main opposition people involved!

Admirable ethics on your part...can you explain to me how on earth you could be such an ardent Trump supporter? You just figure that ethics are for ordinary folk, but that the rich and powerful get a different set or what?

One thing that is encouraging in all this mess is that the people who Trump chose for the critical security agencies all pretty much turned out to be professionals who understood the grave responsibilities they had. Even Ratcliffe seemed not up for putting his hand on the election scale despite being a rabid Trump loyalist - perhaps he didn't have enough time. The only one willing to acquiesce is good ol' Billy Barr, Republican plumber and fixer-upper. Hope he's gotten sloppy enough to become Dis-Barred once this clowncar of a cabinet is turfed out.

https://apnews.com/article/when-do-electoral-votes-need-to-be-in-970e6b8c8474c77ac6ab4fb0d56caa5b
Electoral College electors in each state don’t vote until Dec. 14. The electors’ votes typically align with the popular vote in each state. But not all states require the votes cast by electors to mirror the popular vote. Certificates recording the electoral vote results in each state must be received by the president of the Senate and the archivist no later than Dec. 23.
The official results of the electoral votes are sent to the new elected Congress, which is set to meet in a joint session on Jan. 6, 2021, and announce the results.
Which State are you from? Looks like "Denial".

What kind of presidential speech is that? He didn't insult anyone, didn't say one thing then the opposite a few minutes later, didn't pick a fight with his allies or praise any dictators, didn't call his political opponents fascists/enemies/America-haters and for some reason is talking about the COVID-19 virus and what to do about that. Like, what is the President supposed to do about that, is that his job or something?
This Biden guy didn't get the memo on how to be a great president.-

Move elections and voting to the block-chain and all this nonsense is avoided. But that will never happen. A segment of the population wants the electoral processes to be maintained like those in third-world countries. That way the results can be obfuscated when needed, like this election cycle.
Now there's a sensible proposal. Wonder why the incumbent didn't try it?

5 hours ago, xylophone said:That comment ties in very nicely with a post I made on another thread stating "America being the loser" in this election.....
We have just experienced four years of the most divisive and dishonest presidency in American history, which attacked the twin pillars of our democracy — truth and trust. President Donald Trump did not spend a single day of his term trying to be president of all the people, and he broke rules and trashed norms in ways that no president ever dared.....
Trump was divisive on just about every subject, and re-introduced into the American lingo the term "commies" which I hadn't seen used for years, when describing the Democratic party, when in fact they are nothing of the sort, being just centre left in the US, however would rank centre-right in other countries; whatever, they are far from being communists.
It's that sort of hatred that he loves to feed to his right wing cohorts/supporters and unfortunately there are those dumb enough to pick it up and run with it, thereby creating division.
If you think about all that he has said and all that his supporters have adopted/taken on board, there is no other explanation than to label him a cult leader, whom his supporters will follow to the end of the earth, believing his lies and distortions and making it a sad day for those folk in America who just want to see a UNITED States of America.
I have an article from a US professor friend of mine and I will reproduce it a few posts down, and it is well worth reading because it addresses problems that America had and has and states quite clearly that trump is not the problem at the moment, he is the result of the problem...... anyway I will find it and post it if I'm allowed.
True, and it was the deliberate denigration and politicization of truth to the end goal of construction of an alternative reality. It is only by creating the alternative reality where people who are career journalists, scientists and civil servants are suddenly not just ordinary people doing their jobs as they had for the previous x number of years but a huge conspiratorial clique that are somehow able to coordinate and operate a "Deep State" parallel government outside of politics and, of course, entirely aligned with the Democrat Party. These "enemies" can then be discounted and replaced by loyalists, even in senior scientific and technical capacities that they have limited or no expertise in. This is central to their success, since you have to deconstruct people's previous reality to get them to buy into the new one you've just created out of whole cloth. That's how you can then get people who had previously espoused a deep interest and attachment to policy and philosophy to completely switch their views on their core principles and follow an ever-changing kaleidoscope of belief that boils down to "whatever Donald said or tweeted a second ago". And yes, as you have pointed out, this is entirely cult-like behaviour.
I think the non-Cult people who voted for him basically are one-issue voters mostly motivated by lower taxes, abortion or "owning the libs". The remaining ones probably think government is a bunch of <deleted> and doesn't matter regardless of who is in power and treat it like any other entertainment source so chose the one who provides the most entertainment. That would certainly be a logical choice in this instance.
At the end of the day, I think it's not America who is the loser so much as the rest of the world who had no say in this farce but who will suffer the consequences of a country for whom the exaltation of the individual over society has resulted in a country that is deeply damaging to society, both inside and outside of the USA. The cost in lives from COVID-19 is a good example of this within the country, while the hundreds of millions of future deaths caused by the continued intransigence and political success of the climate deniers will continue to pile up.-

Don't agree? Notice how often his "assessment" of foreign leaders is based on "I like him"... "he likes me... we get along" etc. If you can get him buttered up with praise, details of diplomacy, treaties etc not so important.
All just for show; the Vietnamese are no fools, they already understand that Trump is purely transactional as noted by John Kelly and in it entirely for what benefits him. All they have to do is figure out a way to funnel some of the booty to Don's bank account in China (or make one there) and they'll be able to get anything they want.
