  1. Got my covid exts in CM. You need the same forms as for your 30 day ext. Plus the covid form. You do need a TM30. No insurance or flight out. As said above, use of agent is up to you. I did as I hate dealing with immigration. 4,000 B plus 1,900.
  2. I entered on a STV in May of last year. The consensus view of the agents I spoke to were of the opinion that there were to be no extensions after 30th September. I can not give you a definitive answer as the scheme was extended and the problem went away (I am still in Thailand) With borders opening up I would be going for a SETV, get 90 days, go somewhere for a break and get another SETV in a nearby country. Doing that a third time might be pushing your luck but you would get 6 months and get to see another country. Only issue if you already have extensive stays in Thailand
  3. I think Singapore are relaxing entry requirements from April 1. If you are in Krabi there is a direct flight. May need a pre flight test, not sure about that. Best check as entry requirements are changing quite quickly.
  4. If, like me, you do not use a wallet and just put cash in your pocket these polymer notes seem to have a habit of working their way out of your pocket. The Aussie ones can stick together and make counting tricky and you don't want that happening with $50 notes! I can see the advantages of polymer but I just don't like them.
  5. One thing to consider. I believe the STV is supposed to end 30th September, the same as it was last year. If this does happen not sure you would get your full 9 months out of it. I had this problem last year but the scheme was extended. Very confusing at the time. I am not 100% on this but worth checking out.
  6. No idea frankly. To quote Aussie requirements a foreign vaccine cert is ok if it shows Date of Birth Name as per passport. If not further evidence i.e driving licence Date and type of jabs. I am OK apart from not having my middle name on the NHS app. Fortunately, I have always found Aussie Border Force staff friendly, welcoming and helpful (sarcasm alert)
  7. I agree. Was told that this was not possible. I have had 2 jabs in the UK and one in Thailand. Separate certs for both. Flying to Oz in a couple of weeks, will see what happens
  8. UK passport holder, currently in Thailand. Planning on visiting family in Oz early April. Fully jabbed. Previously I have applied for an ETA but I am seeing something called an eVisitor which is cheaper. Is this the one to go for? ATK needed 24 hours before departure (I assume this is the same as a RAT test) Is this 24 hours before first flight or flight to Oz? Am travelling CNX, SIN, BNE? Tempted just to pony up for a PCR just in case of delays etc. Am aware of the on line locator form that needs completing before departure. Cheers
  9. Just for the record my 2nd CE in Chiang Mai last week was dated from application, same as the first. I have a flight booked out well before then so did not bother asking any questions
  10. The pre departure test is not the issue. I can see the logic to it. It is the test on arrival and the risks involved if testing positive that is the game stopper. Testing again at day 5 is just dumb
  11. I was refused a CE in Krabi last week. Not much of a surprise as I entered on a STV. Nicest and most polite refusal I have had, even apologised for not giving me the stamp. Got it fixed in Chiang Mai so everyone happy????
  12. I will bump this thread as there are plenty to chose from! Quick CE report, the important bit being I entered on a STV. CE denied at Krabi. Reason given was that holders of STVs are not entitled to a CE after 25th Jan. I did not get the impression that they were being awkward or unhelpful, that was their read on the rules. Flew back to CM and got my extension no problems. I did use an agent but I do that anyway as any trips to immigration just stress me out. Chatting to the agent it seems some of the inconsistencies lie in the definition of a tourist visa. If you take it literally (Krabi) then it means a only TR and VE are eligible post 25/1. If you take tourist visas in the broader sense (CM) then STV holders are eligible. Just my personal take on things. I have a flight out booked for April so hopefully that is me done with immigration until Christmas!
  13. Plan A is to have a chat with my agent back at base. Plan B will be to just move my flight forward to before expiry. No big deal, I was only dragging things out until Australia opened fully. Obviously they have now done that so I can go and see the family. Only reason for trying for a last extension is I have paid for a month on the beach!
  14. Jack, Think I messed up my reply to you earlier. You were correct my covid ext on a STV was refused today in Krabi. Reason ' rule changed for STV after 25th Jan' Polite but he was not budging
  15. I am from Hong Kong on STV visa, already finished 270 days stay. I have seen many people successful in getting 60 days COVID extension. However, i went Hua Hin immigration to applyCOVID visa. On the first day, the IO said I need to get embassy letter. The second day i brough
  16. Thanks Jack. Seems like more of a lottery than usual. I will head to Krabi immi on Friday and report back. Not familiar with them as my dealings have all been in CM.
  17. Jack, Could you confirm that STV holders are not now eligible for a covid ext. I was planning on going to Krabi immigration later this week as I am a couple of weeks short before I fly out. Thanks
  18. Completely agree with the helpful post above but just to put my personal spin on it. I chose to go down the agent route. My paperwork was in order but I hate immigration. 2,000B. First extension just handed over my passport and signed the usual copies. No rental agreement, insurance, quarantine booking, test cert needed. Second extension I did need my insurance cert. In and out with stamp in 10 minutes and I applied well over a month before expiry. Not for everyone I understand but it suited me.
  19. I know rules change and different embassies have different rules but I entered last year on a STV from the UK. No criminal record check required then
  20. Struggling to keep up here. I am also looking to go to Oz via Singapore after 22/2 So if nothing else changes there are no testing requirements to transit Singapore and just a RAT within 24 hours for Oz?
  21. I was in the same situation last year in CM. I posted a 90 day report off just in case. It was returned with a very polite handwritten note saying that it was not required. Thought it was a nice touch.
  22. You can only get a STV from your home country. Assuming you are on covid exts check your crystal ball for how many more will be available. Current deadline 25th March. Depending on your circumstances you could convert to Education, marriage or retirement others will know more about that.
  23. I am heading from CM to Koh Lanta at the weekend so will be applying for my covid ext in Krabi. I entered on a STV so reckon I should be ok. I have read the report about the 1k 'express fee' to get 60 days straight away but need to get clear the under consideration stamp. Is it return on that specific date or can it be done a couple of days before. No issues with any of this just need to plan my visits around the number of days down there. Cheers.
