  1. ...and the very same tattoos stretched to unrecognizable patterns due to obesity the was the final nail in the coffin.
  2. Sent an email to LTR office, and they replied quickly. In conclusion, it seems there is no issue at all to do as I was thinking, rather it was just the lady in LTR counter who was not familiar with details. Actually handy to have contact to ask questions like this directly in writing vs. the usual mumbling with vague and changing answers in Jomtien immigration... ------------------- Referring to your inquiries, please see the answer as follows: 1. I visit in home country in July, and apply new passport while there (would be much easier and cheaper for me there than in Thailand via embassy in Bangkok) Answer: Yes, it is okay to get a new passport form overseas. 2. I come back to Thailand in September, and show both the new passport and the old passport (with the LTR visa stamp) at immigration. I know that the validity of old passport would not be enough to enter, but I would have the new passport also. Answer: Your current passport which contained LTR Visa is still valid. You have got a stay permit stamp equal to the expiration date of your passport which is 4 November 2025. Therefore, you can use it to enter Thailand in September. 3. I come to BOI office to transfer the visa in September after arrival to Thailand (old passport would have 1-2 months of validity left). Answer: After arrived Thailand in September, you should transfer your LTR Visa to your new passport before your current passport expire on 4 November 2025. Kind regards, LTR Visa Member Team
  3. Old passport would only have 1-2 mo validity left at that time so would immigration let me enter without showing new passport? If so, would they stamp old or new passport? Anyway seems I tried to be too smart/lazy optmising number of required visits to Bangkok and not paying extra for embassy for passport. End result maybe that I do one visit more than I would have needed to do by getting new passport before getting the LTR stamp. I just sent an enquiry to LTR office about this, see what they reply.
  4. Thanks. You have personal experience of doing this with LTR, or generic knowledge?
  5. Short commentary of my LTR application experience: Filed my LTR (‘Wealthy Pensioner’) application on 25Feb. I submitted 2024 annual report from investment bank as evidence of passive income as I do not have any tax return documents to share (as I do not need to file tax return anywhere). Also wrote brief explanation of why so as an additional doc to the application. As commented by other posters, that was OK – however, as additional doc that was not in the requirement list, they also asked to provide statement of the portfolio where that income is derived from. I just submitted portfolio report and that was enough. Got the approval on 25Apr so took exactly two months from filing the application to get the approval from the system, maybe because of them moving to new office during the period, as well as Songkran holidays. Appointments available already on Monday 28th, so after approval visa comes quick. About 65min in the office, 90% of that waiting at different steps. Overall, the process is smooth and simple if you ask me. However one surprise: I got the visa to passport that expires in November, and told the lady in the office that my plan is to get new passport in home country in July, enter Thailand with that (showing visa in the old one) on September and then transfer the visa to new passport when back. However she said ‘it is better’ to apply new passport from embassy here and transfer the visa before leaving the country. I did not manage to get black and white answer whether it is mandatory (i.e whether I would loose the visa if did what I had planned), just that ‘it is better’. It appeared that she was not sure and I did not push her further. Anybody have experience in this situation i.e leaving the country with visa in old passport, and then entering with a new passport received from home country, and then transferring visa after arrival? Old passport would have 1-2mo validity left when entering. Just would be much more convenient for me if can do new in home country as could skip trips to embassy and pay the exorbitant fees of getting passport from embassy. However, not worth a risk if there is a risk of loosing the LTR if do like that.
  6. Pretty good description of the situation. Thaksin is in a short leash for rest of his life and he would not be stupid enough to try to break it.
  7. At least they focus on innovation for democracy as there is a department for such "Office of Innovation for Democracy at King Prajadhipok's Institute" Looking recent history one can only wonder the focus areas of their innovation (reduction or growth). Anyway looking at the end result, maybe not a bad idea not to have focus on innovation in companies....
  8. Non-performance rates of loans held by Thai banks and finance companies seem to be aligned with your statement! 9
  9. 555 Actually someone should make a collection of all comparable statements by the Junta and make it like a poem book. Would be fun reading.
  10. Backlash for showing what the country is?? Should have no reason for such, I would rather think that having progressive presentation would get backlash by being fake. Thai society is held hostage by its leaders who continue brainwashing their people from young age about the greatness of all things old and them being special, and preventing any progression
  11. You are correct. For many if not most ordinary Thais it's about absolute money and/or gold, not profit. Profit is too abstract of a concept for many. Also, morality of getting hands to that are secondary for many, and whether getting hands on that is profitable is secondary too. As long as have money today, all is good. Until it's not, and then its someone else's fault. Long live Songkran!
  12. On that day the app I use actually correlated very well with the feeling outside. Felt substantially hotter than the temperature measurement in shadow
  13. Bullet gone into head from back while looking chicken?
  14. I saw the highest ever Feels Like temp reading I've ever seen here in my weather app few days ago when had the hot day. So not that cold here...
  15. Depends on your definition for good beach. But if you just want fairly nice and not far away, just go to Ko Larn on a weekday when it's not crowded. Rent a bike to find out which beach you like most. Personally prefer Nual as that seems to have most undersea life to observe with mask and snorkel Just a day trip with a slow boat is good for a lazy day. Stay overnight if you like
  16. Foreigners have wholeheartedly embraced Thai culture in their life then. Govt should issue citizenship to them!
  17. Contrary what critics say, incidents like this enhance and strengthen people's understanding of core Thai cultural trait of Double Standards that crosses through all walks of life in the country.
  18. Hope reporter would tell what the spat was about. Argument of ladies for the night, booze, and yaba or money buried behind temple? Or possibly about validity of karma in sacred writings?
  19. those who have visited india are not surprised at all. just another day.
  20. ...however he did not inherit it alone as in 2001. Not familiar with the 2001 situation details to compare to todays situation though, but anyway he is on a pretty short leash to do anything that the power holders see as negative.
  21. Goverment announcing something like this means the actual situation is the opposite of what they say. Globally it is excatly the opposite.
  22. Thailand indeed has serious structural issues and the business model they have run has reached its peak. Whether thaksins ideas to solve the situation are correct is completely another matter - and if they were, would those in power allow implementation of the changes.
  23. Well, it was very easy way to solve their problem in clean manner, just by letting one man in to join. Alternative would have been quite a bit dirtyer.
  24. Seemingly not. Instead people got a claim for a small share of a dreamliner they financed instead.
  25. Russians should limit the use of the game to Russians only and encourage to use it as game of national pride among themselves. World would become better place.
