  1. recall seeing this thread about 90 day reporting issues - filed mine online as done for long time on Sunday, and got back approved today. So the only change to previous times is that the approval took a bit longer, been same day or next day usually.

I recall one time I had to go to immigration as I had new passport since previous report. For some reason online 90 day reporting does not work if you have new passport (they said that to me also in reporting desk as was wondering why the online does not work), instead you need to file first report with the new one physically, after which the online report works (regardless whether you leave the country later or not).

To do it properly, you should firstly get a water sample analysed and then decide what is the best filtering system to use based on your requirements.

Water for drinking requires different treatment than water for washing the dishes, clothes or showering.

Well, I was just triggered by lazada throwing this on my face and was surprised about price.

I do have 5 stage filter set that I have used several years to filter water I use for ice and coffee/tea.

But knowing Pattaya City water has some sediment as it accumulates on bottom of tank as well as toilet reservoirs, was just wondering if these cheap ones are working to collect the sediment. Not that I would really need it, but whether it would be worth to clear the water used in house (bath, laundry, dishes, toilets etc)

  3. Noticed this this kind of affordable water filters in lazada.

Anyone have experiences with them, are they worth? Wondering if would be good to filter city water before entering tank and house, just to clear the sediments off.

Seems have different types of filter elements - which one(a) would be the relevant for such case if worth in the first place?

  4. I noticed  there is change in notification logic after the server change: Before I got notified if anyone commented a topic/thread I had either created or commented earlier.

Now I am getting a notificiation if anyoneI get a notification from the forum every time someone posts or comments to a forum section (e.g Pattaya, Samui etc) that I have ever posted or commented before. I have not changed notification settings.

Not sure if this is intentional or accidental. Anyway, I personally prefer to get notification only if anyone replies/comments a topic I have created or commented before, not for every topic under the subsection as that bring a lot useless notification.  And seems there is not setting to choose if want comments only for the topic or the whole section.

Maybe could create such setting option...or go back to the old one to limit the quantity of notifications to the more relevant ones i.e only to the topic.

This is even more worrying - https://www.prachachat.net/finance/news-1443480

Google translation of the last paragraph, immediately above the copy of the official order:- In the future, the Revenue Department will amend Section 41 of the Revenue Code by immediately calculating tax in the year in which income is earned abroad. Regardless of whether money is brought into the country or not, however, it may take 1-2 years to amend the law.

The earlier announcement about taxing funds brought to thailand is not a big issue

However if they indeed would go for global income taxable in Thailand if tax resident (like many developed countries do) , that would be more serious issue. Luckily that would require law change so that can react in time.

After the Thai immigration you need to walk pass the big casinos, if you want you can visit their clean and free toilets. Cambodian immigration is on the right side of the road here:

Cambodian immigration may ask you for 100B for no reason, just pay it.

Their are taxi drivers waiting at the exit, or you can walk to the traffic circle to get a taxi.

I don't know about Battambang. Shared taxi to SR is about $10-13, takes you to you hotel.

Do NOT get on the free shuttle buses at the immigration exit. They will take you to one of the two government bus stations where you may have to wait for hours for a bus and the last stop is far from town.

A bit off the topic of OP, however related question as you seem to be knowledgeable of that border: I've been considering to pay a visit to SR & Angkor from Pattaya too, just to see how much the place has changed since 22 years ago when i was there previous time.

However I am wondering whether have safe parking service near the border so that could leave my car there for few days (just like you can nicely do in Nong Khai).  Also heard this border crossing maybe have some hassle issues. I have non-O retirement visa and return permit, should I expect to have any issues (other than the omnipresent touts that could just politely decline)?

I use Chrome exclusively, and seems you need to open everything in a new tab, which I actually do anyway.

Has been like that quite some time for me, however after update works as it used to do by directly clicking the title

Having read every post, I still have a very simple question.

If you already have a TM30 from immigration, do you need to go online to register.  I did my registration by handing it in to CM immigration some years ago.

Why, according to some reports that all manually obtained TM 30s must now be re registered on line, and that existing TM 30s are no longer valid.

I never heard such, nor did immigration said anything about such. It would not make any sense either.

You could think some stupid one in immigration would say something the other way though, luckily not (yet... )

  9. You need to handle it in Chonburi, not in Pattaya or Rayong. I recall two visits to Chonburi main DLT needed. As farang you need to apply and pick later new plate (Chonburi one) if the current one is Rayong. If current plate is chonburi, then can handle in Pattaya DLT alone

I recommend use agent to handle it to avoid the hassle. Just get your purchase paperwork in order and give to the agent. Better yet make the transfer papers in the agent office to make sure all is good first time, esp if you not familiar what is needed (did that once when sold a bike even if it was with chonburi plate)

Even if current plates are chonburi, I would recommend to use agent as cheap and no hassles.

I used Pu Service on Thepparasit for a car and a motorbike to transfer from BKK to Chonburi plates before. Easy as they did all the legwork

Real coffee at least seems to be considered ‘luxury’ here and like everything else in that bracket is overpriced. That store could also be trying it on. Perhaps a cue to switch to a healthier diet… 6-8 cups is excessive, no? ????

I do two and think I’ve gone overboard.

Real coffee, both beans and ground, has been around 200 baht a kilo(plus delivery) on lazada for several years. Small roasters in north, tried many and yet to get any bad tasting, rather premium taste at low price.

Seems no major change in prices lately either, maybe due to not much impact by xrates

Do I need to file a new TM30 if I leave and reenter Thailand? Surprisingly no. But pay attention -- ONLY because I was an owner occupant of my home.

But keep in mind this was at the TM30 desk.

I went to the very same TM30 desk after reading the very same PM story, and asked similar questions (also owner of my home).  To me answer was I need to do IF 'I have something to do in immigration (like extension or residence cert.). Not necessarily contradictory to what they said you as indeed it seems no need to do if no need to deal with immigration.

And as said in the OP, the day before no issue to get res cert with 4+ yrs old TM30 slip...

Odds are that the whole thing will vapourise again, and effectively go to same mode it has been since 2019

Come the next election there will only be one winner and it will be a landslide

You seriously believe they have not taken lesson learned from the mishap of past election and having to deal with the case post-election?

I would be very surprised if this will be let to happen again as it would be catastrophic, though sure hope so.

The rules for when a TM30 should be filed changed in 2020.

Prior to that, section 38 of the Immigration Act required the registration of all aliens address where they stayed when entering Thailand.
Section 38 : The house – master , the owner or the possessor of the residence , or the hotel manager where the alien , receiving permission to stay temporary in the Kingdom has stayed , must notify the competent official of the Immigration Office located in the same area with that hours , dwelling place or hotel, within 24 hours from the time of arrival of the alien concerned.

At that time, not all Immigration offices enforced the requirement. CW being one that comes to mind. Back in 2017/18 CW suddenly started enforcing the requirement. Many foreigners who had previously tried to submit a TM30, but were told it wasn't necessary, now found themselves being fined for not filing a TM30.

Immigration also interpreted the law as such, that if a foreigner stayed elsewhere for short periods, a holiday in Thailand, or a trip to another Country, then they had to refile a new TM30 when returning to their already permanent registered address.

The Immigration regulation published in 2020, I previously posted, changed that.

This is (was) was exactly my understanding also, until last week. My last TM30 was from Aug 2019, when Pattaya Immigration told no need to do any more if return to same address. No issues with extensions etc since then.

Now the news in Pattaya Mail (https://www.pattayamail.com/latestnews/news/chonburi-immigration-bureau-tightens-address-reporting-442911) took me by surprise when saw it, and consequently went to do the new TM30, with explanations that indicate that the 2020 regulation would have been voided (i.e need to re-do TM30 if need to deal with immigration)

But is there an actual formal new regulation issued for the change to go back to the pre-2020 where you would need to do this every time you enter the country? Or is this just a haphazard implementation change without any formal regulatory change that is different in different immigration offices?
