You could use the Thai family option to apply for the COE and they may not want the medical insurance needed for the retirement option.

For a non-o visa with a retirement extension with a re-entry not all embassies and official consulates are not requiring the medical insurance.

Thank you Ubonjoe, If I change my visa base on retirement for one base on Marriage, will it be better?  I am 70, the one year Insurance will cost $700...

    Thank you

  2.

I now have a non immigrant "O" Retirement Visa and a 1 year extension of stay in Thailand .  I am 70, fully vaccinated with AZ in Thailand, I intend to go to Canada and return with the re-entry permit.  The problem is that I am married to a Thai but my Visa is based on retirement.

Do I need to change this visa to a non immigrant "O" based on Marriage visa in order to forfeit this insurance?   Alternatively I could show the marriage certificate on my return to Thailand with the Non immigrant "O" retirement visa.  I will be traveling with my Thai wife and I will need a Certificate of Entry.

Also I see this: Visitors who wish to visit Thailand for other purposes than tourism and need to apply for the Certificate of Entry must have valid non-immigrant visa or re-entry permitHence for the CEO I need nothing else so I do not need this insurance?

@roath I see # 3 on the list states a document we must receive at the immunization center. I guess that would be what I want to know if anyone receives, Thanks again.

I have been vaccinated at Vimut Hospital and the next jab at MedPark.  Both have issued a very professional document certifying my vaccination and other details.

It's an idiotic rule when looked at in context. I can walk to my nearby Burger King for takeaway, because it's a standalone restaurant. I cannot walk to my nearby McDonald's for takeaway, because it happens to be inside a shopping center. They're about the same size, so could offer the same space to waiting customers.

I don't mind using delivery services and do so quite often, but going on a walk once per day and picking up supplies along the way is good for me.

Let's keep in mind that obesity is the number one killer when it comes to serious cases of Covid. We really don't need even more lazy arsed people relying on food deliveries, when they could easily walk to a nearby shop.

    I agree!

You missed a lot. It's under discussion and evaluation since weeks.

I think Thailand is not the only one.

Hoping that the second jab will be AZ I will take the Sinovac stuff tomorrow.

You can trust the plans/promises in this country, don't you?

This combination Sinovac + AstraZeneca is not recognized by the Canadian Government:

"To be considered fully vaccinated, you must:

    • be eligible to enter Canada
    • have received the full series of an accepted COVID-19 vaccine or a combination of accepted vaccines.

    Accepted vaccines:

    • Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty, tozinameran, BNT162b2)
    • Moderna (mRNA-1273)
    • AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD (ChAdOx1-S, Vaxzevria, AZD1222)
    • Janssen/Johnson & Johnson (Ad26.COV2.S)

Vaccines not currently accepted for fully vaccinated status in Canada:

    • Bharat Biotech (Covaxin, BBV152 A, B, C)
    • Cansino (Convidecia, Ad5-nCoV)
    • Gamalaya (Sputnik V, Gam-Covid-Vac)
    • Sinopharm (BBIBP-CorV, Sinopharm-Wuhan)
    • Sinovac (CoronaVac, PiCoVacc)
    • Vector Institute (EpiVacCorona)
    • Other

Now what to do to enter Canada?

I am left confused as to your reply. Which Nationality Consulate  "invited" you to attend the vaccination site which I  can only assume was attended by the collective assembly of all nationalities who received notice via respective Embassies/Consulates ? Did you  simply walk in ? No prior registration?  Could  you have been from well outside Bangkok? Cold you  assert that the number of  vaccinations exceeded  the 100 per nationality ?

Before going to this collective assembly of foreigners, I did not simply walk in, I had to officially submit my name and some details (age and passport number) to the Embassy to get the authorization to go for vaccination.  I cannot assert the number of vaccinations per nationality, I have only said that there were at least more than 455 foreigners of all nationality in the whole room.

All this was done in a rush:  On Friday the Thai government sent the info of vaccination to the embassy, on Saturday I registered my name with the embassy at their request and on Sunday I got the vaccine.  All my others registrations to Mor Prom, Intervac, many hospitals, resulted to nothing...

Since from May onward, Bumrungrad has been fobbing off many expatriates with an existing Bumrungrad hospital number, medical records, Thai ID including pink book, and qualified in terms of age (over 60) and underlying conditions - I'm moved to congratulate you but remain hazy on what distinguishes you from many others.

I'm pleased for you but would be interested in your thoughts about what made your application succeed.

Having only 1 kidney instead of more than one, I suppose might have help!  Any thought of selling one?

Initially I had similar opinion of thought about the sudden issue of this invitation at such short notice.

After learning it was generic to several Embassies which made it clear that this was an offer by the Thai Government but limited to 100 individuals  per each I concluded it was a PR token that could be quoted to counter critical comment about separatist policy regarding non Thai nationals regarding  equitable access to vaccination based on risk factors as has been the policy of those same Embassy nations in eligibility regardless of nationality or status/reason to be present.

Given that Thailand has come up very short in adequate provision of vaccines for virtually anyone other than the well connected "elite" this tokenism is more of an insult than any arguable justification.

The best "stunt" other than has been admirably demonstrated by the French via it's Embassy in giving timely  notice to all it's Nationals over 55yrs in Thailand to register and then receive a valid vaccination of J&J . That puts paid to any BS that it can not be done and further to the lie that there is no ability to access vaccine outside of the criteria set by the Thai Government.

I was lucky to have called the Consul the previous day to ask our embassy to do like the french did in Bangkok.  The embassy then replied by inviting me to go the next day at the SCG building to get vaccinated.  The must have been more than 600 foreigners as my number was 455.  It went fast and very smoothly.  I hope they do this periodically again only for foreigners.

Why is this so surprising & automatically attributed to Sinovac?  Has it not always been known that the vaccine...any vaccine...is not a bullet proof vest?  That you may still contract Covid but "hopefully symptoms will be lessened?

Truth is most if not all "regular" folks meaning non Medical workers

probably never get retested for Covid once vaccinated & assume all is well.

Even though they could have since caught Covid & were asymptomatic or have lessened symptoms to the point of going unnoticed.  Which in truth makes them Super Spreaders

Medical workers on the other hand are probably tested weekly at least so of course so this already known chink in the Armour of ANY vaccine against a constantly changing Covid Virus will be more often shown

Perhaps you are working for China?  You think medical professionals workers do not already know about vaccines?  By the way why China stayed silent about accusations that their vaccine are not protecting people?

It's actually a master move. With people fleeing Bangkok and taking virus with them, the pressure on health services in Bangkok will ease somewhat. I'd personally rather see them lock the thing down and then announce it, instead of announcing it a few days upfront, allowing all the horses to bolt before closing the barn door, so to speak. But, it's not all black and white, and doing it this way still has some advantages. Obviously not for the folks that live in Isaan villages... But even there... those who survive won't need a vaccine for next 6 months or so, leaving more for the spots that are reopening to tourists. OK, so this isn't even beneficial to Isaan folks either...

Their camps are made off some corrugated metal houses without any air con, not much food, they were asked to stay in the camp for one month… oven like conditions with nothing to do.  Why their employers are not using army tents instead with portable aircon units so their conditions become more humane?  Where are the promised vaccines for all?

That was like the literary equivalent of eating a polystyrene sandwich ..

bland and meaningless don't do it justice ..

An' if in the eyes of clown jester health minister they are blowing smoke up his jacksie for perceived " success " why ain'tt he got a mask on ..

You'd think this of all photo shoots would be the one where he wouldn't openly demonstrate cluelessness ..

Exactly like Radio Thailand, totally incomprehensible, meaningless, intellectual hogwash, after reading this article I felt I learned nothing.  What did Thailand do to achieve such a success fighting Covid-19?  Nothing here has been decoded.

  12. I will be 70 next month, married to a Thai for 27 years and this insurance requirement will cost me a minimum of 86,170 THB ($2730) for a coverage of only $100,000.  I have no choice but I will have to leave Thailand and go retire in Laos, Cambodia or Vietnam unless the Thai government accept that I have more than $100,000 in my Thai bank account and I have enough to cover a medical expenses of $100,000.  How many old expats now live in Pattaya?  As well tell them that retirement in Thailand is no longer affordable and no longer possible.  This is only a bonanza for the insurance lobby...

As an alternative, why not ask all foreigners entering Thailand a medical tax of 100 THB to be invest in a health care Fund for foreigners who might default on their medical expenses?
