  1. Assuming you are in Thailand on a marriage extension of stay obtained from Phuket immigration based on your non-O visa for purpose of marriage... You will first off need a re-entry permit from Phuket immigration (1,000 baht for a single entry, 3,800 baht for multiple entry) that will allow you to keep your current permission to stay when you re-enter Thailand. Under the current rules for Phuket Sandbox (which may or may not be in effect in November) you would need to be fully vaccinated. You would need medical insurance for covid with a minimum coverage of $100,000 USD for the period of time to completely cover your current permission to stay. Note that the insurance is normally sold in standard durations (1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 6 months, etc.) so you will need to purchase one that covers the entire period of your current permission to stay. Because you are on an extension of stay due to marriage you do not need the general medical insurance that is mandatory for Non-OA visa holders.
  2. I would go there with your documents in case you can be fit in that day. If not, you will get an appointment. I'm not sure the online queue is working for any foreigner. It didn't for me.
  3. Yes, do the online viewing. Office is open again. Likely the first time you go you will be given appointment to return.
  4. I am under the impression that DHL only allows domestic shipping in Thailand for relatively high-volume businesses not individuals. Do you know differently? For example, clicking on "Get a Quote" on the site you reference leads to this: https://www.dhl.com/th-en/home/our-divisions/ecommerce/customer-service/contact-ecommerce-business-get-a-quote.html
  5. Go to immigration on Monday. The worst you should face is a 500 baht fine for being on overstay for one day, which they may waive. You should be able to apply for your extension after you settle the fine, if any.
  6. Australians get 30 days extension of a visa-exempt entry and have for a long time. He could come to Thailand on either a visa-exempt entry (30 days plus 30 day extension = 60) or a Tourist Visa (60 days plus 30 day extension = 90). Either will allow him to apply for a Non-O visa at the immigration office in Thailand. Which is best depends on convenience and length of permission to stay. Visa-exempt is easier but gives you only 60 days to open a bank account and apply for a Non-O visa. Tourist Visa requires purchase from Thai embassy/consulate but gives you 90 days (with extension) to accomplish opening bank account and applying for the Non-O visa.
  7. Thailand Plus is not required to enter Thailand, though there is a lot of erroneous information to that effect around. The Mor Chana app is the one that is required. As a bonus Thailand Plus doesn't actually work at the moment.
  8. Yes, Phuket Town is the closest to normal of any place in Phuket. Also, 2021 Phuket Vegetarian Festival will begin on Wednesday, October 6 and ends on Thursday, October 14. It is an amazing festival and is centered on Phuket Town. https://www.jamiesphuketblog.com/2016/04/phuket-vegetarian-festival-schedule.html?m=0
  9. Krungsri Bank ATMs allow only up to 30,000 baht (the most of any Thai ATM) per withdrawal and charges 200 baht if you are using a foreign ATM card.
  10. The US has never had any covid vaccination requirements for visitors to the US, so I'm not sure what news you are talking about. Possibly you are talking about UK requirements for vaccination of visitors and returnees? -- https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/united-states
  11. A very simple restriction that unfortunately is often very badly expressed: if you participate in the Phuket Sandbox you cannot visit Bangkok prior to landing in Phuket. That is, no transiting in Bangkok.
  12. While you can apply for your extension of stay up till the date the current one expires it's not recommended. You can apply 45 days before your extension of stay expires in Phuket. Doing it early gives you a great deal of time to rectify unforeseen problems. My understanding is that Phuket Immigration has required for some time now a yearly summary of transfers for those using the monthly deposit method. It's also my understanding that Bangkok bank takes up to a week to produce such a summary because no more than 6 months of customer data is retained at a Bangkok Bank branch (the request has to be serviced by the main Bangkok Bank office in Bangkok). It's an unfortunate situation. Clearly you have complied with the functional requirement of transferring the required amount on a monthly basis, but without the evidence required by Phuket Immigration to demonstrate this to their satisfaction. What did Phuket Immigration suggest you do?
  13. When flying to the Phuket Sandbox your plane cannot land in Bangkok.
  14. Up to this point I believe all the Pfizer vaccine being administered in Thailand has come from a US donation. All the vaccination programs I have heard about in Thailand involving Pfizer have been for those who had not previously received any covid vaccinations (an exception was made for a third Pfizer booster shot for those frontline medical staff that have been vaccinated with Sinovac). So, I would say no, not to my knowledge. That may change as more people become vaccinated, but I believe that's the state of situation at the present time.
  15. True, but you can enter Phuket internationally via Phuket ALQ which is the only way an unvaccinated person can enter Phuket.
  16. Although it's been redacted in the example posted, there's a QR code in the upper right that when scanned goes to a Ministry of Public Health database that shows in Thai the dates of all your covid vaccinations. There's also an ID Card number, 13-digit, starting with "60000..." that seems to tie your vaccination records with the same MOPH database. It's been explained that you can enter that ID Card number on the Mor Prom app. It's supposed to load the same sort of vaccination record when accessed from Mor Prom. I haven't tried that yet. Your certificate looks good as far as it goes but seems to lack a tie-in (via QR code or ID Card number) into the MOPH database. Of course, I've no idea what is actually required by anyone, but I was feeling sort of confident in having the bilingual Thailand National Vaccination Certificate that could be validated via the QR code and perhaps the ID Card number as well. I guess what is actually required will become apparent as we go forward.
  17. This is what one gets at Chalong Hospital assuming Chalong Hospital staffed your vaccination center. Cost 50 baht.
  18. The Google Lens app is good for translating an image of Thai text. Google translate camera will work as well.
  19. The minimum balance for a retirement extension using the lump-sum bank deposit method cannot fall below: 800k baht two (2) months prior to the application for extension 800k baht three (3) months after the application for extension 400k baht the rest of the year
  20. You can get it immediately after getting your extension of stay. The re-entry permit can be single or multiple entry (1,000 or 3,800 baht, respectively) and will be good to use up until your new permission to stay date. Any re-entry permit you purchase is valid until your current permission to stay until date, regardless of when you purchase it. Re-entry permits can also be purchased at international airports before you leave Thailand. When you re-enter Thailand using a re-entry permit you will be stamped with a permission to stay up until your current permission to stay date. If your re-entry permit is derived from a Non-OA visa (rather than a non-O visa) you will need to satisfy health insurance requirements (400,000 inpatient, 40,000 outpatient) for your entire permission to stay period stamped into your passport. You will not be stamped with a permission to stay that exceeds your health insurance coverage.
  21. Yes, agree that CapitalOne has offered good service for someone living outside the US. I used my CMRA agency (non-residential) address in the US to open three credit card accounts from Thailand. Never any problems. Have them send my new credit cards to my US address and I have them forwarded to Thailand from there. There are know-your-customer rules in place in the US, but some financial institutions (like CapitalOne and Charles Schwab) seem to be able to legally open accounts for people who live outside the US and other financial institutions don't seem to be able to. This leads me to believe the problems lie with the financial institutions interpretation of what their due diligence should be with regard to these rules.
  22. Communication with SDFCU seemed to be a problem. Didn't like my Commercial Mail Receiving Agency address which is of course a non-residential address but is the only address I maintain in the US. Didn't like my Thai address, either, which is in fact my residential address. It wasn't my first rodeo with a Federal Credit Union as I'm a 25-year member of another FCU, but I find they can be a little idiosyncratic at times. To be honest it seemed to me that they just didn't like that I lived in Thailand. I was less impressed with SDFCU after dealing with them then I was before. Charles Schwab accepted my CMRA address in the US, and to date, no problems have ensued. You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you might just find, you get what you need.
  23. Applied for State Department Federal Credit Union account and was declined twice. Seemed to be a giant waste of my time. Applied for a Charles Schwab Bank account instead and was accepted with no problem. Still use the Charles Schwab account. Don't miss the SDFCU account.
