  1. Basically the same answer though. Needs to leave Thailand on Thai passport. Can enter SA on British passport, then exit SA on British passport, and can enter Thailand on even an expired Thai passport. It might even be possible to renew her Thai passport in SA through Thai embassy, not sure about that.
  2. If you are in Phuket and haven't gotten your first jab yet, here are some suggestions: Get registered on the phuket.win site: https://xn--12cmj6ba0a7b3g4a6fud5d2a.com/ Take the survey/register with Bangkok Phuket Hospital (Sinovac, Pfizer, and AstraZeneca): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfsPp_fx0NIn2B3x8bPo_cchJRVkxPKzBi1GFiBQksqbXW8TA/viewform?fbclid=IwAR3ndt8qw6kFfpX7lOGg-uzuzTaKAtE8MuTn-4E0BtCmoYa1kWj7BPOmVyM Friends have reported that they were able to obtain 2nd AZ jabs from Patong Hospital with just their passports on a walk-in basis. It might work for 1st jabs as well. Worth a try. Good luck.
  3. Two of the better ones: https://www.facebook.com/groups/phuketsandbox/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/388875605677294/
  4. Traveling to the US is the easy direction, getting back into Thailand requires a lot more work. ????
  5. No change to phuket.win yet for me. Still on the 17th September. No SMS.
  6. Cool. False alarm then. The Non-OX visa has always had a 3 Million baht requirement, so topic can be closed now. By the way, I don't believe Chinese nationals are eligible for the visa anyway: http://www.thaiconsulatevancouver.ca/ox/
  7. The difference between Phuket Sandbox and ASQ/ALQ that most people notice right away is that in the first you can leave your room for 14 days and in the second you can't. ???? But that little difference aside... restaurants are open but they don't openly sell alcohol, massage shops are open, bars are not open (unless they also happen to have food service, in which case they are but not serving alcohol), In short, Phuket is not currently party central, but then I imagine is a slight improvement over being stuck in your room for 14 days in Pattaya or Bangkok. Pros for Phuket Sandbox: 1. You're not stuck in your room 2. Can be cheaper because you're not paying as much for lodging/hospital services and meals built into the cost of ASQ Cons for Phuket Sandbox: 1. 8,000 baht must be paid in advance for three RT-PCR tests. 2. Aside from perhaps breakfast no other meals are typically provided for you. 3. You will have to travel from Phuket to Pattaya. Can probably fly Phuket to U-Tapao, otherwise have to arrange private transport via private car/van or rent a car and drive yourself. You have to stay in a SHA Plus hotel such as these (around 400 to choose from): https://www.shathailand.com/
  8. Nope, haven't been back to the US for about seven years. Getting my information from the internet (from the US State Department and CDC) By the way, my earlier example of getting a covid test 3 days before travel to the US while true is a little misleading. Here's a better way of stating it: If your flight to the US is on a Friday, you can get your covid test anytime on the prior Tuesday or after. That's a better example because it covers the entire range of acceptable days before the day of your flight in which you can get the covid test.
  9. No kind of quarantine is needed on the US side. The covid test (which can be rapid antigen) must be done three (3) days before your departure to the US. It's an easy standard to meet than the one you need to meet when coming to Thailand which is 72 hours. You don't have to count hours, just days. For example, if you fly to the US on Friday, then you can get your test results anytime on Wednesday and it will be within the three (3) day time-frame.
  10. A rapid antigen test satisfies the US entry requirement. Cost is about 600-800 baht. RT-PCR will be much more expensive (4 to 5 times as expensive). You don't need the fit-to-fly certificate for entry to the US. Good to also check any specific requirements your airline(s) or transit countries might require.
  11. Sometimes. Some of the very earliest people vaccinated in Phuket received Sinovac. Then many were getting AstraZeneca (sometimes waiting as long as 12 weeks between jabs). Now it's possible to get Pfizer if you have not been vaccinated yet. You probably have to balance being fully vaccinated with getting a more efficacious vaccine. Anyway, it's good to see more choices and more supply out there.
  12. You should be OK. The primary purpose of having a TM-6 is assigning a unique number to designate your entry into Thailand. Both the arrival and departure parts of the TM-6 have this number right below the bar code. It consists of 2 letters followed by 5 numbers (e.g., AB12345). Use that number when asked for your TM-6 number during your current entry to Thailand. Staple the blank TM-6 departure card into your passport.
  13. Up until very recently Pfizer was not available in Phuket. Probably explains the headline.
  14. The survey/registration form for the Bangkok Phuket Hospital offering: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfsPp_fx0NIn2B3x8bPo_cchJRVkxPKzBi1GFiBQksqbXW8TA/viewform?fbclid=IwAR0OiP6X0JxvcEJupT-DJXnZy7eDG015LdbXsjDcS9425UQK27p9Eu91hnk
  15. My understanding is that Thais only had to show covid insurance coverage for 15 days. Coverage should be available for as little as 30 days, I would think.
  16. I would guess that the majority are expats and Thais returning home and wanting to avoid 14-day hotel quarantine in ASQ/ALQ. There are some actual tourists though. There was a statistic released that I can't seem to find again that listed the average number of nights that Sandboxers were staying in Phuket. If I remember correctly, it was below 14 nights which would indicate that there are genuine tourists because anyone leaving Phuket short of the 14-day requirement can only leave Thailand which would tend to be indicative of a tourist rather than an expat. Presumably a returning Thai or expat would be staying in Phuket the full 14 days so that they can travel elsewhere in Thailand or stay in Phuket.
  17. You got a first jab of AstraZeneca and then received an appointment for a second of AZ. But instead of waiting for the second AZ jab you decided to use a program intended for those who had not received any vaccination at all and get yourself a Pfizer jab. That is how you arrived at your dilemma. Ignoring the rules and doing things your own way. If you had simply waited to receive your scheduled second AZ jab you would not be in this situation. You would be able to go to the US and return to Phuket through the Sandbox as you would have been fully vaccinated with AZ. So I agree you now have a dilemma but it's one of your own making.
  18. Had to look up SFQ. ???? I'm behind the times on card-less withdrawal, too. So you can use the Krungsri Bank app at an ATM without an ATM/debit card? Did not know that. I shall have to try it out next time.
  19. https://www.thephuketnews.com/ppao-to-open-for-walk-in-vaccinations-81180.php While the Phuket Merlin Hotel walk-in is advertised for people without any vaccination I suspect there's a chance you might at least receive an appointment for your second jab if you try there.
  20. Patient number, the number by which a patient's records are accessed within the hospital.
  21. Thanks for the information about the rescheduling. It confirms my phuket.win mantra: "don't expect to be notified, if you're interested to see if anything has changed check your appointment on the site." Admittedly not optimal but seems to be the reality. A minor correction, Karon Orchard is usually referred to as Karon Orchid, or more formally as Phuket Orchid Resort and Spa, Karon Beach. I haven't noticed any change in my September 17 2nd AZ jab appointment. Yet.
  22. Sandbox Express offering bus service from Phuket to Bangkok: https://www.thephuketnews.com/sandbox-express-bus-extended-private-vans-now-available-to-help-tourists-get-off-island-81073.php
  23. As I type this (things change quickly) I believe the only air service currently in operation is from Phuket Airport to Utapao (Pattaya) offered by Nok Air. The Sandbox Express bus service is also in operation and that would take one from Phuket to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok for 1,800 baht (leaves Phuket 5:00 AM and arrives to BKK before 9:00 PM). Only available to Sandboxers. You can make a private arrangement with a driver of a van/car. You can rent a car and drive yourself. I'll see if I can't find more information for the Nok Air flights to Utapao and the Sandbox Express bus.
  24. Sorry, your explanation of why you did what you did rings hollow. After you received an AstraZeneca jab and were scheduled to receive a second AstraZeneca jab you instead registered for a Pfizer jab when it was perfectly clear that program was only for people who had not yet received a vaccination at all. Please don't make it sound like you were offered nothing. You were given a AZ jab and scheduled for a second AZ. But you wanted Pfizer so the Pfizer jab went to you rather than someone who had not been vaccinated at all. I don't think it's the case that people who have received two doses of AZ are going to die and people who received two doses of Pfizer are going to live. Your choices weren't between living and dying. They were between waiting for your scheduled second dose of AZ or signing up for a program that you had to know you didn't qualify for. Your choices were between playing by the rules or ignoring the rules by providing false information.
  25. I would use the register for first jab on phuket.win, get an appointment and explain the situation at your appointment. I would register at the cyan colored button >>>>>>> Vaccination Registration for Non-Work Permit Foreigners <<<<<<<<<< However, if you actually have a Phuket-based Yellow House Registration Book I would register at that button (yellow). After registering see if you can book an appointment for first jab at the gray button. If you're near one of the vaccination centers on a day when they are vaccinating people you could drop by and see if they can help you. Sometimes that works. How long since your first jab and what brand?
