  1. A 38-year-old woman driver crashed into a tree after driving through a police checkpoint, because the vehicle contained her husband’s dead body. Her elder brother had killed him in a drunken fight, so her brother and her son were helping her look for a place to dump the body.

When I read of Westerners going 'missing' in Thailand two thoughts cross my mind.

On some beach with a brown girl.

Killed (perhaps accidentally while on some road at night), then their body carted off to be dumped somewhere due to the local considering it the best option.

  2. By all accounts he was steaming drunk and refused a lift back in a car, but chose to ride home after a day/night of heavy drinking at the bikeshow.

    RiP.

And a lesson to people who might think of doing the same.

If that is the case I have not much respect for him but i feel for his wife and child.

    Wow...

    "By all accounts"???

    Whose accounts???

The people who were drinking with him, and whom he refused to go home with in order to stay there longer.

  3. Cheap Charlie posts a question and the rest of the Cheap Charlies pile on. If $100/mo too much you don't deserve a girlfriend. Taking care of all expenses and traveling is part of the package.

I pay my wife not to work. I'm treated like a king.

    Only one?

The Burmese girls are only 15,000 each and you own them forever. A real man has three tending to his every need.

  4. I honestly don't think it has that much to do with face, the matter of fact is that the public transport is still pathetic and you still need a car to get around to the suburbs.

    Incorrect.

The sheer range of public transport is fantastic.

Minivans every 20 minutes to every suburb. Buses, endless taxis, etc.

The problem is that the roads are so full of single passenger cars that they take too long to get there.

Maybe for the well off but getting to places with a taxi everyday especially isn't exactly affordable for everyone. You could say there are songtheaws and minivans during the day, but past a certain hour, taxis would be your only option.

Minivans go from about 4am until about midnight.

  6. Yup, I've seen a few better maps of all the coloured lines that are planned but can't find any of them now.

I'm interested in the ones that go up along Viphawadee from Morchit/Chatujak, and the one that is planned to along Phahon Yothin from presumably the same place.

I heard there's supposed to be one along Phahon Yothin to Saphan Mai and then to Khu Kot somehow.

Any info with maps of the line drawn in would be appreciated.

  7. There are not many countries where bad things don't happen. Why would Thailand be any different?

Because it is the Land of Smiles, everybody is nam-jai, greng-jai, jai-jai, ju-jai, ju-ju-jai. rolleyes.gif

Of course the reality of most Thais being almost everything they think and speculate to not being has little to do with it.
