A 38-year-old woman driver crashed into a tree after driving through a police checkpoint, because the vehicle contained her husband’s dead body. Her elder brother had killed him in a drunken fight, so her brother and her son were helping her look for a place to dump the body.
When I read of Westerners going 'missing' in Thailand two thoughts cross my mind.
On some beach with a brown girl.
Killed (perhaps accidentally while on some road at night), then their body carted off to be dumped somewhere due to the local considering it the best option.

By all accounts he was steaming drunk and refused a lift back in a car, but chose to ride home after a day/night of heavy drinking at the bikeshow.
RiP.
And a lesson to people who might think of doing the same.
If that is the case I have not much respect for him but i feel for his wife and child.
Wow...
"By all accounts"???
Whose accounts???
The people who were drinking with him, and whom he refused to go home with in order to stay there longer.

Most people on here have their Sino-Thai wife giving them 150k p/m from their family fortune anyway, so probably the wrong forum to ask on.

Isn't it interesting that most of these stories come down to one thing.
Clever Thais, stupid Westerners.

Cheap Charlie posts a question and the rest of the Cheap Charlies pile on. If $100/mo too much you don't deserve a girlfriend. Taking care of all expenses and traveling is part of the package.
I pay my wife not to work. I'm treated like a king.
Only one?
The Burmese girls are only 15,000 each and you own them forever. A real man has three tending to his every need.

Moving from one job to another.
What is she going to be doing all day now?
Presumably washing, cleaning, ironing, mopping etc. as she is your paid housewife?

I honestly don't think it has that much to do with face, the matter of fact is that the public transport is still pathetic and you still need a car to get around to the suburbs.
Incorrect.
The sheer range of public transport is fantastic.
Minivans every 20 minutes to every suburb. Buses, endless taxis, etc.
The problem is that the roads are so full of single passenger cars that they take too long to get there.
Maybe for the well off but getting to places with a taxi everyday especially isn't exactly affordable for everyone. You could say there are songtheaws and minivans during the day, but past a certain hour, taxis would be your only option.
Minivans go from about 4am until about midnight.

So don't tell mates that they're being robbed and cheated and a lot worse is probably about to happen.
Man am I glad that you aren't one of my mates.

^ Yes, it is very sad for them
He has a house half built for the baby that's due.

Which is more important to you:
Having him talk to you.
Or possibly save him from losing 2m in a house (plus probably a lot more financially, emotionally, and possibly physically)
?
The idea of sitting back and watching a mate of 10 years lose his house and everything else because you still wanted him to be a mate is beyond comprehension.
I think you need to look at yourself mate.

I acted like I was going to pull over, he relaxed and I gave it the gas.
That move is also known as a 'cbrer'.

I wouldn't spend one minute there.
The place really does say a lot about the people who choose to live there.

I would guarantee it is greater than the tax refund, so in the end the car owner is losing.
No, they win. They get face from having a car.
I know a middle-aged Thai teacher who lives in a section of the school with another teacher, they both work there 6 days a week, earn less than12k p/m, they both have cars.

What pipe is it, the Dan Moto?

I think Loser Lazer is selling his CBR250 with aftermarket pipe, airfilter and ECU for under 100k.

Yup, I've seen a few better maps of all the coloured lines that are planned but can't find any of them now.
I'm interested in the ones that go up along Viphawadee from Morchit/Chatujak, and the one that is planned to along Phahon Yothin from presumably the same place.
I heard there's supposed to be one along Phahon Yothin to Saphan Mai and then to Khu Kot somehow.
Any info with maps of the line drawn in would be appreciated.

Any map of the rest of it?

And still no youtube video of someone giving it the beans down some Thai road at 2am with 85psi in the tyres.
I literally don't believe it.

Teach Thais that the Face gained by owning a car they don't need and can barely afford = stupid.
I suppose most are not in a great rush to get home anyway as the car is likely parked outside a 2000b p/m shack. Compare that to blocking up the roads sitting alone in your car and the feeling of face and importance. No contest really.

I can also use the crossing at Savanakhet so maybe they will accept an e-visa.
Only if Cambodia invades and conquers Laos before you get there mate.
If you have a Cambodian E-Visa you can use it at only the following two border-crossings with Thailand:
Once in Cambodia you can leave at any border-srossing, ie, you don't have to leave the same one you entered from.

There are not many countries where bad things don't happen. Why would Thailand be any different?
Because it is the Land of Smiles, everybody is nam-jai, greng-jai, jai-jai, ju-jai, ju-ju-jai.
Of course the reality of most Thais being almost everything they think and speculate to not being has little to do with it.
Fiancee Wants Salary

Apparently she has a job already.
But you know, wants to stay at home with the farang giving her a monthly salary instead.
Thais are easily influenced, she's probably been told or heard stories that farangs always give their Thai partners money, why isn't she being taken care of? Her cousin's friend has a farang giving her 60,000b per month, why isn't she getting that? Is her farang bad, no good, not give money to Thai? Not take care girlfriend? You farang rich, have money, why you not give me money?
