What if they are Muslim? Does it follow that all Muslims should be suspect? Does being killed by Muslims make you deader than being killed by White extremists?

The fact is, you are seven times as likely to be killed by a right wing extremist than by a Muslim terrorist.

Should all whites be suspect now?

And you are more likely to be killed on the road than in an air crash.

Like your statement above, it means nothing unless you take steps to try to ensure it doesn't happen to you.

I certainly would not trust anybody who follows the teachings of a paedophile.

Any chance of Donald becoming world premier?

    Excellent? Not even close...

It is a disgusting short-sighted resolution to an issue which simply does not exist.

The largest group of individuals involved in terrorist attacks in the US were US citizens (77); the second largest group were UK citizens (33). A total of only 5 individuals of 174 arrested/convicted of terrorist activity in the US in the 12 years after 9/11 were from those even countries on the ban list.

Nothing more than red meat for his rabid xenophobic disciples.

What it will do is get US outposts - embassies, consulates, NGOs, etc., and yes, Trump properties, attacked abroad. He is creating more terrorists with this nonsense, and people will die because of these orders.

And how many of the 77 + 33 were muslim or of muslim descent?

Yes, there are named protected classes for which it is illegal to discriminate against, but that is irrelevant considering the dual pricing in Thailand is based on an unprotected class which is nationality, this has exactly nothing to do with race despite some members posts of anecdotes referencing times when venders have mistaken foreign Asian tourists for Thais and so given them the Thai price.

Nationality = Thai (or any other)

    Race = Thai(or any other)

" nationality, this has exactly nothing to do with race"  ????????

good idea. stop teaching English, especially grammar and spelling.  it's tough for many Thai school kids to have to study at least 2 new formal languages... i.e. for most of the north for which daily conversation is in Kam Mueang (with family and friends) they also must learn the official high diglossia "pasa Thai" (for talking with teachers, farlang and watching TV) ... on top of English as yet a ****third**** language.

then they can learn other stuff.

So what language would you propose for ASEAN? Chinese maybe? That would be a real bonus for trading globally.

If you had read through the posts you would have seen several links I posted that prove you are talking nonsense, many counties in the U.K. have offers only for county residents, it is completely normal, not discriminatory against tourists to offer locals discounts and thus not illegal.  Here is one more example to demonstrate to you that you have no idea what you are talking about.

    http://www.pro-teccovers.co.uk/index.php/news-a-events/79-shows/78-20-discount-deal-for-all-scottish-residents

I can guarantee that if anybody went there with enough cash for a purchase, they would get the discount. It is an advertising gimmick ONLY but some people are so thick that they believe it's true.

Glad to see how you skipped over reading anything in this thread so you could peck out a response.  Thanks.

So are you suggesting that, let's say the US, specifically targeted Thai people?  Because that's not what is happening in Thailand.  They have one price for citizens of the country and another price for non-citizens.

And yes, you can find plenty of examples of pricing that discriminates against tourists in almost any Farangland country.

    So what's your point?

you can find plenty of examples of pricing that discriminates against tourists in almost any Farangland country.

I have lived in/visited many western countries but have NEVER experienced what you suggest. In my home country, UK, it would be termed discriminatory and therefore illegal. Same in all EU countries. US? Who cares?

  7. I don't have any problem with police/army shooting to kill terrorists caught in the act or when fired upon/threatened with a firearm. What I have a problem with, is taking an unarmed person, keeping them shackled and locked up sometimes for years, then taking them by force, still shackled to an execution chamber and cold bloodedly killed. Awful.

Okay, the PM might not have a degree in linguistics or English, but he is right that the English spelling system sucks and no one (including Rooster59) seems to be able to fix a problem that affects, oh, just 1.5 billion people trying to learn the stupid system. Who cares about 1.5 billion people on Earth? Just deal with it! Isn't it fun to point fingers at others for incompetence (because then one does not have to speak much about one's own incompetence.). If that is the epitome of mismanagement, I don't know what iZ.

Surely, people know that English has the worst spelling system ever created and managed. It has an alphabet that has ONLY 26 letters (making the Thai alphabet look like an elephant), but English has 44 phonemes/sounds. Oops! We lost some somewhere! Where are my glasses? Oh! And, to amuse those little learners and those English teachers, they thought it would be fun to have 205 or so ways to spell those 44 or so phonemes that are only represented by 26 letters. So! Oops! But, just learn the 80+ spelling rules. So, when you read this word, use the rules, one by one,... It is easy! Don't forget of course the hundreds of thousands of exceptions (that are explained in those extra rules). Rule Britannia! Rule! Indeed! NOT! Maybe that PM was not completely wrong. (Reference for those doubters: http://improvingenglishspelling.blogspot.com/ or, even more damning, https://www.ualberta.ca/science/science-news/2016/august/sorry-chomsky-english-spelling-is-hardly-close-to-optimal. Here is what it looks like, just for 10 phonemes in English.

Oops! Sorry! Got the wrong file! They kind of look the same, don't they?

Sure, sure, but if we did not have all of those different spellings for those different sounds, how could one possibly disambiguate "ad" and "add", and such?  Except NO ONE has any trouble understanding these words (heterographs) when they are not spelled (when they are uttered, when they are pronounced). Oops! How many of you misspelled "their, there, they're"?

There is something rotten! But, in what state? Of course, THAT cannot be fixed! LOL Where have you heard that one before? And, everyone was laughing at the absurd level of incompetence and complacency of ... I mean ... uv ....

But, these teachers, these students, these kids,... can they do anything right? LOL

    Nah, you're all wrong.

I've heard it on Australian TV.  It's pronounced  "p - Tie - yar". Just ask any Australian, they're born linguists, I'll have you know!

    :)

And ask an American and he'll tell you it's Pad ear. That's how the American announcers on 103 FM pronounce it.

  10. Regardless of rules, Immigration do as they please. Due to the website having been taken down, I just visited Sri Racha for my 90 day report. Being unable to remember the copies they require for this, I took everything. Immigration officer did not even look at them, just stapled them all together. The date for my next 90 day report is about 50 days hence on the same date as my visa extension. Last year the 90 day report was done on line and the full 90 days was given, even though it overlapped the visa extension. I've learned not to query anything with them as it is a waste of breath.

What currency exchange rate in £ sterling does immigration use to calculate the required 65,000 Thai baht needed per month?

At Sri Racha office they always ask me what the exchange rate is.

Can you please provide details of the 18% fall?

AFAIR the initial drop was around 12% against the dollar. Reducing in further steps to the 120 - 125 where it sits now.

The affects have not really filtered through to the economy fully yet. Yep, things will get worse - imports costing more, rising inflation, weakening pound. Especially as the Tory government seems clueless, without a real plan and divided on what the objectives are. With no real opposition with an intelligent input things don't bode well.

And all because some clowns stoked up racist emotions and lied about figures with false promises.

In Jan £/$ was about 1.48.

    Today it is about 1.23.

All of this fall was not immediate it's true but it can mostly, if not all, be attributed to Brexit vote and PM's announcement of March 2017 for Article 50 causing BoE to further cut interest rates and weaken the £ even more. It is all thanks to ignorant people who voted Leave.

That's my opinion, if anyone disagrees then they have their opinion and I have mine.

Currently the £ is down around 17% against the dollar Year To Date.

Source, bbc.co.uk/business/currencies. These are the mid market rates, not exchange rates.
