No problem for Thai thinking mind. Half the tourists then double the prices and we will get the same money for less work.

Many Thai health insurance companies won't provide cover for people over 65. People over 70 have problems getting cover above $50,000 unless they were previously covered. Seven Corners mentioned above will only cover up to the age of 80. Some insurers specifically exclude covid19 cover.

What a huge obstacle course to overcome! Obviously only really determined tourists will undertake such an obstacle course so doubtless the tourist arrivals this year will be negligible.

I had a Scottish friend with a cough and temperature of 39.5 centigrade. The local Government hospital said that they had no spare covid19 testing kits so sent him home with some codene pills. No test - no covid19. Simple answer as to why Thailand has low figures. He self quarantined for three weeks and luckily recovered.

You can use the combination method. You indicated that you have a UK pension that you send to Thailand. If you send it monthly get your bank to provide a statement of the money sent from the UK and a copy of something that proves that the money sent is your pension. Otherwise use an agent this year. Some Immigration officers think that the money has to be in your account for three months not two. Play safe. Once you get refused your problems will multiply.

The "watchman" was supposed to heal the rifts in the party but probably only changed the people receiving brown envelopes!

If you still have an address in the UK use that address as you will get an index linked pension. If you haven’t paid the full quota of NH contributions you can buy the shortfall quite cheaply. I moved to the Philippines and my pension increased by £140 a month. For some reason people living in the Philippines get an index linked pension. Then because mail to the Philippines often gets lost I got a friend of mine in England to enable me to use his address as a forwarding address. The Pension Office uses Skype to contact me and I still have a Filipino mobile number.

I used to be able to show my Thai driver license and get Thai prices. I’m married with a child born in Thailand and if they try and charge me farang prices I just turn my car around and go somewhere else. They lose 3 customers. Most of these places also overcharge for food and drink. My wife gets extremely angry with them as she says he has been married to me for over 16 years and takes care of me and my daughter he should get the same price as me. I noticed the other day that Nong Nuch has stopped double pricing but that might just be temporary.

Horses used for labour in the UK? What cultural trickery is this. Are they talking about horses used by the Police force or The Household Cavalry? The Thai police also have horse regiments.
Maybe they want Europe to ban the import of rice as well as some farmers still use buffaloes. Many bar girls ask for money to help for the sick buffaloes owned by their poor fathers.

Surprised that they didn't plea that they had to charge extra because of lack of customers. No farangs to overcharge so now have to overcharge Thai people!

OP states Thailand’s animal-protection laws are stronger than in other countries. Thailand may have many laws, unfortunately they are rarely enforced, so it's a bit pointless having them, just for show. TIT...
Like the laws on wearing crash helmets. The laws for the rich are equally strictly enforced and red Interpol Notices issued. The Red Bull heir only has to wait another 7 years to get off scot free.

Yesterday the country was considering opening up the country to certain countries with low virus rates. Today they think that the idea of tourist bubbles is too great so this idea appears to have been abandoned. TAT is too scared to make decisions so how can the tourism industry plan for the future yet alone recover.

They were both lucky not to have been charged under the computer crimes act which would have carried a sentence of up to 7 years.

PETA is a crock they think eating meat is a sin. Horses should not be raced and pussies should not be miss treated or shaved.????
Oh dear divorce lawyers will soon add the mistreatment of pussies into divorce settlements. They could get PETA as expert witnesses as obviously <deleted> would fit their definition of mistreatment!

Just 15km out of Pattaya pay 300 baht for first unit and then 200 baht for each extra unit. Yep I don't doubt that you were ripped off!

After a 12 hour journey from Europe, the normal hour and and a half hour delay retrieval of bags and a further one and a half hours of waiting for a covid19 test I am sure that high value tourists will be clamouring to visit Thailand. This ignores the 2 covid19 tests before arrival, the doctors clearance letter, the visit to their local Thai Embassy and an insurance certificate for $100,000 which will cover covid19. Many health policies specifically exclude pandemics!
Say goodbye to the tourism industry recovery in Thailand.

Strangely a tour by local Ambassadors was organised by a Government Minister to watch these non existent monkeys picking coconuts a couple of days ago to prove that no cruelty was involved. Now apparently monkeys are not used by Thailand to pick coconuts!

My guess it is a matter of reciprocity: UK citizens cannot enter Thailand without a 14-day quarantine if they can enter at all.
I agree and also the fact that people from the UK are required to have 2 covid19 tests and us$ 100,000 health insurance.

US$100,000 health cover for a 73 year old costs over 120,000 baht a year! This will put a kibossh on elderly people visiting Thailand. The ridiculous rules of having covid19 tests are particularly onerous as many countries just won't give tests just if you want a holiday. There are plenty of people in greater need of a test. TAT are whistling in the wind about prospective arrivals. The hurdles are too great. I doubt if tourism will recover for at least two years.

The UK is providing the corridors for countries which have reciprocal rules. Obviously Thailand doesn't have reciprocal rules with all the ridiculous rules they have put in place to enable people to come to Thailand. TAT is destroying tourism not creating it!

Tourism makes up a huge percentage of the economy why not start by removing the ridiculous rules making it more difficult to travel to Thailand introduced this week!
