The whole thing needs to be in a vacuum with no leaks - no one has ever built one longer than a short test run. Better to stick to the Chinese train at least it works and if Thailand beats up any more of their tourists they can just flick a switch.. ????

Sure, all Thai women spike their husbands drinks and food with vasopession.
Its a naturally occurring brain chemical that becomes elevated when a Neurotypical (normal person) is in love. Its also present in other animals as well during mating/ bonding. Some of the research has been carried out on Meerkats if its levels of Vasopressin are elevated you can tell it any old shit and it'll believe you.

I don't want to blame anyone because I do not know. BUT during my years in Thailand seen so many farang sweet talked by their country girls into doing all type of crazy financial stuff. You would be surprised at the complexity of the story telling and ability of Thai women to concoct ideas and farang gullibility to go along.
The reason that people are so easily conned when in love, is in a word VASOPRESSIN - its the love drug that promotes bonding and trust. In lab tests even when conned a person or animal will come back for more (possibly to be conned again) if subject to elevated levels of Vasopressin.
Its why you can never tell them anything like - don't put your assets in the wifes name.

"Detective’s said an issue that likely led to the murders was that Hogg would often buy assets using the names of his Thai family members, including his wife's brother, who allegedly wanted to sell some of those assets.
Because of laws on foreign ownership of land and companies, foreigners living in Thailand often have assets in the names of Thai relatives or associates."
This incident is terrible in every respect. The "issue" suspected by the detectives to be a motive will have many people worried.
More likely is that he put all the assets in the wifes name and SHE transferred to the elder brother. A younger sibling transferring to an older siling is a Thai cultural thing and also is used to safeguard assets acquired by the family. I know of many Ferang who believe "the wife owns everything" including the family home. They are bissfully unaware that the assets have already been transferred to the brother in law. That makes it near impossible by any means (Legal/ Coercion) to get back if the relationship with the wife turn sour.

Brazil has increased sugar cane plantations by 10% and they have also increased the percentage turned into ethanol by 8% just in the past year, there are now zero cars on their roads that cannot use ethanol. Of course there is a market for the stuff, we were just talking about their Swedish market.
Trump pledged to revive the coal industry, promoting coal was part of his campaign, he has also pledged to scrap the Clean Power Plan and he has withdrawn from the Paris Agreement in order to see that one through without legal repercussion. He tried to cut the renewable energy budget by taking from existing carbon capture funding to further fund developments in coal mining, however his proposal was rejected. So far, sustainable energy investment is surviving while coal continues to decline, it is not going Trumps way, but the point is that this is what America currently represents on the world stage, and some Americans want to point the finger at other countries, ludicrous.
Just tell us where the carbon tax goes like 1 Trillion dollars a year of it? Some goes into "Carbon Banks" like BLOOD & GORE where does the rest go and who gets it??

Same here. All it requires is habitually avoiding them whenever possible or at least severely minimizing any association. Keep it all *transactional*
Never a truer word said. Keep everything superficial like icing on a cake, never get involved deeper than that.
The real problem here can be summed up in one word EGOCENTRIC. That is a person who is only able to view the world through their own eyes, without regard for the feelings or desires of others; self-centered.
Its the reason that some people here prefer the Shan's (Tai Yai) because they aren't generally Egocentric and can understand that others have goals, aspirations, wishes & ideals different from their own. Its one aspect that makes them quite appealing compared with Thais.

Wow, I am curious. Some of you long time expats here. Was this kind of violence been going on here 10-20 years ago?
It was a lot quieter then and Thais were much more respectful within society and of Ferang. So no I never heard of this type of thing happening then, aside from the isolated backpacker rape/ murder case. Its the new generation of entitled wannabe middle class Thais that are the game changer... Its high risk if anyone gets between them and the lifestyle they believe they're owed.

Get involved with a Thai family at your peril - people forget its the whole extended family they bought into not just the wife.

I am surprised this guy made it out of Thailand. Wife has a couple of friends that have tried to go to Korea, as tourists, but to work massage, they get turned around by Thai immigration.
Perhaps he was going there to work as a masseur himself?

Correct, its why they pump CO2 into green houses to help the crop grow better. Just don't try telling the brainwashed Eco people that!

Glyphosate and chlorpyrifos are the backbone of industrialized farming globally. Without them the bugs and weeds would kill most crops. Its when American farmers are instructed to use a weed killer like Glyphosate as a drying agent and apply it just before harvest that there is a problem.
One think the government should do is mandate masks and protective gear be sold at shops that sell the chemicals. Its actually quite hard to buy the correct mask for chlorpyrifos for example.

Good on Vernon - he acted in the correct way first rose above it and ignored the slur - then when Musk persisted takes him all the way...
We should realize that baselessly accusing a Western man who happens to reside in Thailand of being a "Pedo" is a slur on ALL ferang here AND a slur on Thailand's reputation.
I hope the full weight of the law is brought down on the Tesla clown.

Trip of a lifetime my ass, if you go to Phuket these days you're 'slumming it'.
Agree - Back 15 years ago or so the buzz was that it was going to be a high rollers paradise, not any more.. Phuket today is almost totally trashed - 8 lane roads jambed solid each way, ugly shops everywhere, and bursting with low grade Chinese tourists...

To many Trump haters in here buying into the propaganda. He's right in a modern world tariffs should be equal between trading partners. Can't be that China gets to send its goods to the US at 5-10% yet the taxes the other way are 40% - wake up!
Who cares where Harley moves their decrepit old motorcycle production to...

Paraqat is banned in Europe its quite dangerous, but in the 70's it was still used domestically in the West. Chlorpyrifos is the worlds most commonly used pesticide its not that strong for an organophosphate.

Bannon is ONI (Office of Naval Intelligence) and like Page & Bob Woodward before him who were also ONI, and also ran the same palace coup on Nixon. Only problem this time round is they are dealing with a high IQ, 4d chess player called Trump.

The Americans had to ask the Russians for a list of "acceptable targets" The Russians gave them the list which included the Barzeh research center scheduled for demolition latter this year. So US and UK tax payers paid $ millions to demolish a building worth nothing!!
