  1. polls closed at 4pm local

Yeh, got caught by that Yahoo or whatever pre-poll thing saying 70% yes win(out of votes cast), might be pretty accurate actually.

Hope they are not dividing the country too far apart,

Is it a beer night tonight?

  2. It was so long ago I recognized that McDonalds service sucks here big time, especially on deliveries. I have made countless complaints for not receiving what I ordered, then they say sorry and deliver me the missing stuff an hour later. At some point getting 5 wrong deliveries in a row I got so frustrated that I complaint 'cos I didn't get a straw with my coke. The straw arrived 1 hour later.

On what I understand is that it's Mc Thai, not Mc Donalds (because of the ownership rights) here so there you go. So nobody gives a shit.

  3. I go to a Thai UNI and yes you have to learn to use your brain, but in a very different way to a western uni...

I have a total solution for all of Thailand's problems in three words, education, education, education.

please tell me your a local . please ....................

The only word that may suggest so is "about".

But it is a good post.

If you're a student sonnyJ then can I guess at your uni? You say that you must use your brain so that dismisses almost all of the government ones. You seem too concerned for a private uni student. Not drinking on a Saturday night, so can't be my one (just by the grand palace). I'd choose Chula or Mahidol.

Good guesses! Maybe an MBA student at AIT or something too.

An MBA student sounds quite likely too.

    Hehe, you're all WRONG.

Referring to the brain part means how to assimilate to the system and use it. Find the loop holes and authorities and go around them.... Well, we have a few great professors..

How to create an effective schooling system when there are not many good teachers available?

Worst part is you can drink every night and still get good grades.

  4. Khon Kaen is hardly "Rural" ..
.... Leo Beer promotion (100B entry - receive four cans of Leo Beer

And you wonder why there were so many farang about.... :o

    totster :D

    Good point :D

However there were hardly any farang at the concert..... That little excerpt was more meant as a jab at the latest round of alchohol advertisement banning & the knock on effects of the alchohol companies just using their advertising budgets to give away billions of baht of beer to attract new drinkers. :D

Very good for my business.... :D

    Soundman.

At least it was same price for everyone.

  5. I don't know about any of you, but to me, Uni was a revelation. I enjoyed it thoroughly; and didn't emerge until nearly a decade later with all the decorations one would expect. I enjoyed being challenged in my thought process, having my entire world turned inside out. But then again, I didn't go to Uni in Thailand.

I suspect it is an entirely different and less enthusiastic experience in Thailand.

I agree with you, as I thought that Uni was the place to use ones brain too. But, not here.

Too many examples to add. It's disheartening.

Guess it's not on Gov's top 10 list since they are driving the freethinking teachers (farangs) out of their country. I'll check about that after ten years and we will see how has it progressed, or (de)..

About patriotism, I'm sure most students in private unis in Bangkok don't even know the meaning. (Their daddys take them around military service and such useless crap).

  6. Many interesting points here. This is good reading please continue.

From BKK nothing to report here.

One point I'm sure of, farangs bring lots of $$$ everywhere, so it must be good to get it spread around. Well there're two sides for everything, but everyone wants to get more of that modern stuff..

You can always retire to Borneo if you wish.

  7. Thai Air seems to be still denying this.

Just called them and after 5 redirects reached the Manager of crisis control. She completely denied any accident.

They seemed very secretive and worried whom am I working for, to degree it was difficult to even get her/their names.

Nothing happened was the final answer.

Ask them if there was an incident not an accident and see what they say. Call the airport up and get their side. Thai air has a pilot group? If so call them and see what they say.

    She denied EVERYTHING.

Yes the airport, pilots, why won't YOU call them?

Because HE didn't call the wrong people and ask the wrong questions in the first place.

CDNVIC, seriously, what is your point?

How can you know what questions I asked? And what is in wrong?

    Better turn those brain-cells on.

Um.... if you read up, you told us the whole thing :o

(some people make it too easy)

And which part is in wrong on your opinion?

Maybe you should point it out for us, also maybe you could share us what you would do on this matter.

I'm tired of reading your blathering, pointless posts.

  10. My opinion doesn't matter on this and neither does anyone elses.

    Fact: He broke the law.

Fact: So did the school which presented the false documents.

Fact: He hasn't done anything about it.

Fact: He's probably to scared to.

Fact: With a possible 9 years in the Bangkok Hilton so would any of you.

Fact: He's commited a crime (misdemeanor)

Fact: No one has been hurt.

Fact: There's a huge shortage of teachers in Thailand, especially good ones.

Fact: He's a very good teacher, the best I've seen here.

    Fact: His students miss him.

Fact:" My birthday is April 15th." is bad English. That's written in a very well known English language text book, by people who have degrees I should imagine.

    "Experience maketh the man."

I agree with most of your lines. He played the game the Thai way and now is accused of wrong doings. It's a hard world yes, but what is his mistake really?

I suggest layers, if he can prove this is the way things went as he tells us, and continue play the Thai system. No big problem. I would suggest a layer anyhow.

As you must have figured out i'm not native english speaker. :" My birthday is April 15th." is bad English.... I don't get it, what kind of riddle is this?. Maybe add "on the 15th of April."???

    Please enlighten me with that...

  11. "ot looking for a benefit friend. Not looking for a temp GF, just a normal GF+companionship, same as in a Western country. A normal TG with education, opinions, a vocabaulary, a good heart, a finantial situation that doesn't make her dependant ######ing for a living, etc offers a lot more than a hooker."

What the OP stated originally could have been put better but the above statement is nothing out of the normal is it?

He wants to meet a girl gis own age, education who does not want money to be with him - what is wrong with that?

He might be looking in the wrong places a little but he is asking for guidance.

Try making friends first or get another Thai to introduce you - it can be slow going becoming friends and a lot of the time its in a group but you will get there.

I gave my instructions on post #45, what else does one need.

Bambina said i have 180 IQ.

    Time to close thsss 1

  12. Unfortunately, the girls from that social class rarely want to date farang, or even be seen alone with a farang out of fear that it may be misconstrued by other people as dating... out of fear that their friends and relatives will tease them as being prostitutes or bar-girls or whatever.

    Spot on!

Especially true for the younger falangs/Thai's (18 to 23)

    I agree

Who would want to date an old, ugly farang , and most often time less educated than them anyway. Most decent well to do thai families with an educated daughter will not consent to the relationship to begin with, unless the couple is similar in age and background, including education also.

Just my view and many of my friends…..no offense

What are you people quoting that refers to "an old, ugly farang"?

    Teacup again...

I'm not at oppose with the 'junkofdavid2' post, it's just a little exaggerated. Good girl should simply be a good girl in the ancient Thai culture that The Culture Ministry is holding up no matter what. For the Nations pride.

    Well, Thaksin's case is different.....

    What more do you need?
