pla sawai , I would say, got a load of them in one of our ponds.
Great to fillet,
Put the fillets in salt water overnight in the fridge, and tastes pretty good the following day, deep fried with batter, chips, mushy peas, bread and butter and sarsons.
mmmmmmmm

I have a contract with Saha Farms to produce chicken.
We have a signed contract with an agreed price.
The contract in our case can be cancelled by either party, at anytime.
It is a good thing for me, although as you have already pointed out, you are effectively working for the company
Plus points......you don't need to find a market, and you have an agreed price. Win win,

I imagine that you have no shortage of chicken shit, so plenty to plough in.
Exactly, our current batch of chickens will be gone in about 3 weeks time, was thinking of ploughing some in and using the 6 rai or so we have standing idle to grow a crop, that needs very little care after the initial month or so, our problem is we cannot spray pesticides etc, when we have chickens in the shed.
So instead of having idle land, if we make a little, with not much effort, we will be happy, Just to see the fields looking tidy with cassava, will be enough for me.
Thanks again.
If anyone wants some chicken shit, I guess you would have to live fairly close to me { Phetchabun} drop me a line.
We have a regular guy who will buy our chicken shit by the truck load, he lives in Loei, and sends 3 trucks over for it, so it must be worth his while.
But also local farmers here want it too, and usually we have orders months in advance.

Thanks Khonwan

Is it possible to plant cassava now, this time of year, assuming I could get the stems ?

The farming forum has the most decent set of like minded individuals on TV.
Unfortunately the rest of the site is full snide comments, back stabbing rubbish that I have no time for, and rarely post in.
I wish the moderating team were harder, and got rid of the trolls and keyboard warriors, which would make the place a lot more friendly and probably attract a better class of poster.

So yes, I think there could be a mixed Army general.
My wife seems to think that it not allowed, maybe someone could clarify?
-
I take your point Samran,
But, why would anyone enter a proffesion, knowing that because of his father being a farang, he could never hold a senior position.
-
The fact that they carry a Thai passport or nationality makes then 100% Thai, so why should they be treat differently from other persons who are 100% Thai
The fact that he has a farang father, means he could never be a General in the army, I agree with the OP to some degree, why fight for a country who discriminates against you, of course when the time comes my son will be in the same position, I will let him choose, but he will know the facts before he chooses.

Well Just nipped out to Jothams farm,
It is literally 10 minute drive away from our farm.
He has a lot of stuff going on, its very diversified, and looks great, plenty of land, no neighbours, an absolute dream.
And to top it off he's a really nice chap.

I have a 1 rai pond, approx 4 metres deep.
My question is I see a lot of the smaller nin, constantly mouthing water at the surface, is this a normal trait of the nin, are they feeding or mouthing oxygen?.
I don't see it with the larger nin.
My pond is really for recreation, as I think 4 metres is way to deep to make any money from it, although idea's would be welcome.
I do have a further 2 ponds about half a rai each and depth of a about 2 metres, I should add that non of the ponds ever dry up.

The growing cycle as said is aprox 36 days
Then you must allow for down time after the chickens have gone, for clear out, and cleaning, and by Thai law, the minimum downtime is 15 days, to enable thorough cleaning.
In reality you get 6 turns per year.

it is a serious operation as you say.
Our turnover for 1 cycle of chickens which is approx 36 days is 1.2 mil baht
So yes quite serious, looking to put up another chicken shed, well it should have been last year, but probably next year now.
Nett profit on this is around 120,000 to 140,000 baht per cycle, which is net net, money in pocket.

Ist Pic is the front of the farm
2/ is chicken shit being loaded, all sold.
3/ is my farm house, or part of it anyway.
4/ my pond where I do all my fishing
5/ back of the farm with the extractor fans
We have just got rid of 18,000 chickens at 2 kilo per bird
.we are currently on clean up, hence the untidiness, but when you have something like 35 tonnes of birds leaving the farm it makes a lot of mess, not the best time to post pics of the farm, but still.
Will post more when new chicks arrive in about 10 days time
