  1. There are two bus terminals in Khon Kaen, although that should change this month.

I presume the "Godland Station" is he new bus terminal, which is ready but not yet in use.

I also presume when this new bus station will be opened all taxi's and tuktuks now serving the present terminal will serve the new one.

Also, there is a new diret bus service from Khon Kaen to Hua Hin.

They have started to use new bus station - its only 3 kms from centre & I believe there are shuttle buses to take to old bus station & VIP Station in town

  2. I have never read so much rubbish from the anti-volunteer brigade. There is a very high percentage of tourists and expats that do not know the rules or how to fill out the appropriate forms. The anti-volunteer brigade as usual are so full of their own importance and shit. Learn all they know from 7/11 immigration or their mate - idiots

  3. Anyone that leaves Phuket willingly for KK either is bored of life, or, is under the thumb of their KK wife (IMHO).

I normally respect your views...............................but that is clap trap. I left Phuket as it became too full of idiotic farangs (them that always know better). Moved to KK Isaan, enjoy it.

    Different Different

ps - I am definitely not under the thumb

  4. Is it not possible to send the passport direct to the UK by DHL, and thus pay the same charges as a resident would.?.

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

If you send straight to uk, they expect old passport with the application & the correct exit stamps to be in it. You also have to bear in ind they would also lose the extra profit income for their service.

As I said previously, I believe all passports have to be sent back to the UK by the holders, of course with complete documentation etc. However, as was the case with me in China, if you are in a country where you are supposed to carry your passport at all time, they allow you to hold the passport, but you must send copies of the actual details page.

The infuriating thing is that as soon as the passport office in the UK receive your renewal application, they immediately cancel that old passport, why they cannot do that the day they post your new one back to you is totally beyond me.

That would be too sensible for them too do whistling.gif

  5. Are there any reports whether DHL have a special deal/rate to the UK, as previously offered when the Hong Kong route.

You do not need special delivery to the uk as you are only sending application form & credit card permission. Send by EMS cheap & efficient. /CurrentOld passport stays with you in Thailand so if application goes missing then no real problem

  6. a lot of fast replies before 8am! the power of thaivisa

actually, i travel on my US passport, that's where my Thailand visas are. i just like to keep my UK passport valid in case i ever want to use it in the future.

i guess i could send it to my brother in the UK and have him send it in, sounds like it may be a cheaper option.

that seems the best option - saves the double pricing as well

  8. Although you send to Hong Kong, passport renewal applications are being processed in the uk along with mainland uk applications. Hong Kong send to uk. They charge an extra fee (£25.00 ish) to send out to you in Thailand, which I suppose is part of not having to in god forsaken country (uk). What I find totally unacceptable is they charge approx £128.. for 32 page page passport, but if you were in the uk, £74.00 !!!!!!!! Same process remember.

I am in dialogue with them at moment & already they have used 2 different reasons for their double charging discriminate actions. Thieving barstewards in my eyes

  9. Pullman should be OK - There is a Thai club at the back of hotel, but just noisy on weekends. Try to get room at front of hotel. I stayed in Pullman when it was Sofitel & probably one of best hotels I have stayed in. I have stopped in quite a few hotels throughout my travels

  10. These prices quoted on this thread for new homes in Issan are double what you would pay in the US. In the US you get a large lot, real roads and civil amenities. Plus in the US the average family income is at least double that of Thailand. So I simply don't believe any of the bullshit I read here. Thai families in Issan don't buy out 500 unit subdivisions of 10 m baht houses. Somebody is playing games. Remember the speculation of 1997, and all the unfinished buildings and subdivisions left behind. They are still visible all over Thailand. I fear that after reading this blog, we a drawing closer to that happening again. Be careful what you buy.

But wouldn't you have to live in the US for those new homes ? facepalm.gif

  11. For examples of double pricing - look no further than not no great britain's passport office - nearly double the price to get new passport from Thailand compared to uk

    What a great example.

    Same in Spain too.

The official explanation is that Consulates have to be self supporting.

Probably explains the outrageous prices for any documentation at the Brit Embassy Consular Section in BKK.

The consulates or embassies have no part to play in it now. We send documentation to Hong Kong, they send it to uk & it is processed and returned to you from the uk - after they have fleeced you of an extra £70 odd - barstewards
