  1. As above, check if your visa is a multiple entry non immigrant visa (in which case you don't report, but instead have to leave the country and come back)

On my consulate they told me that "if I might be too sick to leave the country I could tell the immigration so" and could get the next 90 days thumbsup.gif

No sure recipe but may be worth a try on day 89...

    Bye,

    Derk

You can get extra on any Visa for ill health, but it has to be backed up with legitament doctors (from hospital not clinic) report stating the exact dates. Maximum up to 90 days

  2. As above, check if your visa is a multiple entry non immigrant visa (in which case you don't report, but instead have to leave the country and come back)

Or, if its a single entry non immigrant visa which also has a multiple re-entry permit (in which case you need to report to immigration 90 days after arriving)

If it's single it can only last 90 days (possible 7 day extension in emergency) therefore you cannot report as it will of expired

  3. If you are using pension/overseas income to substantiate part or all of your 65,000 per month then you will be asked for a copy of your ATM card to prove that you can extract those funds within Thailand. The generally only copy front, but if you are unhappy with this give them a card with no balance in it

  4. You can apply 30 days in advance which should eliminate any issues. You try taking a Thai GF/BF to your country and see how annoying that is. If done properly an extension is 30-60 minutes per annum - easy

  5. Like you said - the Isaan forum reflects the way of life here & the 'other' forums reflect 'their way' - Having lived 'down south' on the farang island a majority of residents love the life style, but expect their home country ways of life. This is Thailand and you have to abide by there ways and I find a lot of people get frustrated by this, probably brought on with boredom & alcohol. Anyway Isaan is OK, chilled & relaxed

  6. i wasn going to not stop as he was in the road and i had my girl on the back and didn fancy a chase

Why would you even consider not stopping if you were fully legal like you claim? Something isn't adding up here.

read some posts above .. again i have to explain .. i was legal etc .. wowzer this thread is hard work... how does it not add up

It's not the thread that's hard work :)

  7. "There was a thread recently about a police road block down the coast. Most foreigners being stopped were being fined for not having a licence. No intoxication involved, many wearing their helmet, not speeding, vehicle had tax and insurance up to date, but no Thai licence, so they were fined."

Not correct, they are fined for not having a motorbike license. Homelicense (provided in English) is legally valid here, but for driving a motorbike one needs a motorbike license.

Therefore a Valid uk Motorbike/Car License is valid ?? How long for ??

  8. I was a 'gold card' holder with Emirates. Very good airline except for their economy class food - it was dire !! Business class was good and the bar on the Airbus 380 was well stocked with Grey Goose Vodka - no complaints there. Unfortunately do no travel a quarter of what I used to & now demoted to Blue Class Card Holder !!!!!

  9. There are some very cynical people on here - I have read many posts about wrongful fines, bad policing etc (obviously in the poster's opinion) - although I do not think a post with that advice would work as the BIB are not in same place long enough due to next tea break or food break.

  10. I was looking at this myself as my passport is nearly full now whilst still having years to run. As far as I can tell, I have to apply for a completely new passport now thru HK/UK rather than getting new pages added in. Does that sound correct?
You cannot have pages added to a UK Passport, this has never been the case. You apply through Hong Kong the documentation is checked there and the passport sent from IPS in the UK.
What happens to all the current Thai visas and stamps that are in the "old" passport that will then be replaced by the "new" passport . . . do HK/UK add them into the new passport?

Nobody will transfer Visa's so you carry 2 passports - old one with live Visa/Extensions & new passport. The only problem I have heard with this is re-entry permits - you need to seek advice on this first. It will be Ok if you not have one, but farangs with multi - re-entry have had problems & had purchase a new one in some instances

  11. I did mine from Phuket 2 Xmas's ago - I sent the application by EMS to Hong Kong as you do not have to send old passport & they returned it by DHL/Fedex 3 weeks later.

Mine I believe was processed at Hong Kong, but I think they send them back to the uk now as there are more cheaper immigrant workers there now. They also refused to justify the price which is about double compared to the price in uk for the same passport

Cannot remember about the counter signing but also not remember asking anyone
