Why, when one goes to a Thai restaurant, possibly with a new g/f, do they invariably serve the meals 15 minutes apart? it's so stupid to leave one or the other sitting watching the other eat. This would never happen in a european retaurant. I just don't understand the mentality of it. Is it just me or does anyone else experience this?
Happens all the time.Mai Pen Rai Scrimbo.U can always back your bags.
Stu, didn't know you were one of the, ' If you done't like it P--- off ' brigade

My wife works for a company selling breast hardening/enhancing cream, not this company though. I asked her for a job as a massager but she says the cream is for over 40 year old women
Thats ok. You still get some fit 40 year old. Also when my gf started taking the pill then her breasts got bigger. A few of her friends comented on them. So told them as Mister Mayagi said.Showing them what i meant Wax on wax off.
Another pearler sweats.

What kind of muppet would carry 20K in cash when it can be easily transferred from Bank to Bank with minimal fuss and cost.
You say you can't be arsed with a bank transfer... is that because it is much more difficult than going to the bank to withdraw the funds in the first place?
Looks to me like somebody will have it off you in a second when you arrive here anyway.
Good luck.
Erm The kind of muppet who brought 10K over at Christmas no problem. The kind of muppet who thinks 20K is not a massive amount. Me thinks you never came near 20K in your life fellow muppet.
No doubt the mot will be able to look after the 20K

As of today it is still called Telex Transfer by the Bank of Thailand:Foreign Exchange Rates as of March 3, 2005
Average Interbank Exchange Rate = 38.443 * Baht/US Dollar
1. Average Counter Rates Quoted by Commercial Banks ( Baht / 1 Unit of Foreign Currency )
Country Currency Average Buying Rates Average Selling Rates
Sight Bill Telex Transfer
UNITED STATES US DOLLAR 38.2300 38.3249 38.5202
Telegraphic Transfer/Wire Transfers
For quick credits to your account you can send wire transfer/ telex transfers through our offices/ correspondent banks. Facility of transfer by wire /telex is available at branches having SWIFT/ TT drawing arrangements. For transferring funds through our corresponding banks you may furnish details in the following format
-
What does "TT" mean? Is this a wire transfer? Why would they favor wire transfers in their monetary exchange vs. someone handing them cash?
Thanks.
Telex Transfer I suspect. Before computers we had Telex machines for wire messages and transfers.
Because it is real. That cash you hand them has to be verified/counted/bundled/keep safely/transferred/etc. Much more expense involved with cash. Why do you think merchants accept credit cards?
Telegraphic Transfer I believe... and favoured for exactly the reasons you gave.
Telegraphic Transfer is Correct by way of SWIFT or CHAPS code.Telex Transfer was the old days method and took a lifetime.

well done for making a fuss , i've argued with pathetic apologists on this forum until i'm blue in the face over this despicable , greedy , racist practice of cheating foriegners because we are supposed to have more money than the poor poverty sticken local fleece merchants.
why the fukc dont they put the notices in english then , its just another low underhand cowardly scam by people who havent got the guts or enough decency to post their prices or even attempt to justify the scam.
its cheating , something that thais are very adept at , taking advantage of both their own and foriegners alike , given half a chance.
a filthy pox on the lot of them and all those apologists with no self respect who gladly and stupidly allow themselves to be walked over by scamster scum.
5 baht or 500 baht. its not the point.
Time to pack the bags then guys

And how did you figure that?
Perhaps because it has a very good history function rather than just the current exchange rates?
And do you see him getting the Baht42/ US$1 based on the HISTORIC rates?
This poster is not interested in the exchange rate in any case. But I do find use for historical data for filling out insurance forms, checking my transfers etc. It is a more useful site for me.
Each to ones own.

Just back from Foodland and they have a notice up saying that they can only sell booze from 11am-2pm and 5pm till Midnight.
If you buy more that 10 litres of booze they can sell to you as they have a wholesale license.

Actually on second thoughts as I am only taking about 20K Euro into the
country and I intend buying a house out in the sticks after I have lived there
for a year or so.
If I declare the cash at customs in BKK will they give me a slip/receipt of some
sort to say that I declared it and will this then suffice in buying a property.
Where are you going to keep Euro$20,000 safe for a year before you buy the house??? Specially in the sticks!!!

My UK bank (Nationwide) does NOT charge for international ATM withdrawals.
Mine (Barclays) always overcharges me !
The 4 major banks over "ear have just posted their profits -Barc.MNBA,RBS,Shankers @ £ 20 Billion.thanks to all the thai tourists being charged on the exchanged rates when they change their little bits of dosh.

£20 B....Big ones ......you can buy a lotta lotta bottles of beer Chang with that sort of cabbage.
2,259,707,192 large beer chang @ Baht71 to the pound.
