  1. Hi all

After two years with the Thai g/f, its time to move on. Have been out of the loop for awhile and havent been frequenting the spots i used to. Would like to meet up with some Thai students to get back into the swing of things. Where are the good spots these days? Used to go to SuzyPub...still good? any other suggestions?

RCA of an evening.I can smell from where I am at the mo :o

Satang................................actually it could be called nearly all of those. If you get a Scotsman saying Baht (that is how Westeners usually write it)the translation back into English of what the Thai hears is different. It does actually change in the translation. That is why if when a Falang tries to try and speak Thai all he has to be is slightly out with the pitch and it is a completely different word.

Try explaining to a thai that a moose in Scotland is three inches long ,yet in Canada it's six feet long.Or in Scotland 'Theres a moose in the hoose'in Northern England 'Thurs maus in t'aus' when really they're trying to tell you there's 'a mouse in the house' :o

    It's a joke Lamps!!!

  3. "After watching the movie All or Nothing and Angela's ashes I have no interest in visiting or living in Ireland lol. Such a bland , damp emotionless country ... The only good thing is Westlife and U2."

WalterBKK........ We'll have to make you the resident expert on Ireland, especially after watching two movies set there!  emotionless country..........just how far have you got your head shoved up your own ar*e

I live in LOS and prior to that lived in the west of Ireland, admittedly the weather leaves a lot to be desired and it has become expensive to live there, but it still has a lot going for it whether it be the sceanery, the fishing, the time in the bars, the horse racing etc etc. Before you slate the country off you ought to have the decency to sample it first then make an informed opinion rather than rash statements.

    Up the rebel county Mick.

  4. I wonder if anyone can help with this

I am going to Thailand in a few weeks and would like to

take my Thai girlfriend back to Ireland for a few weeks holiday

I am meeting her in Bangkok where we are going to get her a passport and

get a visa at the Irish consulate.

She seems to think that there is a little bit more that we have to do.

As her English is not very good and my Thai is non existent - we are confused.

    So:

1 - Does she have anything else to do.

2 - Does she have to travel with me.

3 - Any other advise tips would be appreciated.

4 - Any if anyone knows - what exactly does she have to produce to get her passport.

    5 - OK - Ahem come clean - she is a bargirl.

    Thanks

Stop in the Vatican on your way and get a blessing from El Poperoo as you will need it.

  5. I live down south and getting to BKK is a bit of a pain.

Is anyone likely visting Chathuchak market? if so, if you see any nice big antique doors or windows pls let me know, or even better take a photo and email to me. then i'll know if it's worth my while taking the 12 hour train ride to check them out (and i'll buy you a beer).

i'm specifically looking for big double doors with carvings and interior doors with carvings. i need 5 exterior double doors with glass panels and 11 interior single doors and some windows.

thanks in advance if anyone can help, steve
