1. Hi thanks for the replies, sorry for the confusion, the lady in question is actully Russian but it is the same scenario as thai lady, I went back over the application & yes there is no mention of the parteners criminal convictions so that is cleared up, also when I did my Thai wifes application (July 2011 ) we never had to have a biometric pemit & still don't have one & it wasn't done at the public enquiry office on the day she applied, so I am guessing this has come into force since her application?

  2. Hi I am assisting my friend with his ( Russian) wifes ILR application, he also has tried to book an appointment 1st at Sheffield earleist date June 2013, so he tried all the others none available till after his wifes settlement visa expires, so he is now going down the postal route unless he is fortunate to drop on a cacelation whilst he is checking for availability. no idea why there all booked I applied for my wifes back in July 2011 without any problem at the enquiry offices.

  3. Hi I have a friend who has being trying in vain to make an appointment at The Public Enquiry Office in Sheffield to apply for his wifes ILR, the earliest available appointment was June 2013? so he tried all the other 6 offices nothing avalable at any of them till after his wifes qualifiying period has elapased he is now making steps to send a postal application but would prefer the fast track option, anyone else had the same experience & if so did you manage to get an appointment through tryin everyday hoping for a cancelation?

  4. Hi could anyone tell me if my friends wife requires this before she can apply for ILR, her qualifiying period is the 22nd Oct 2012, she entered the UK 22nd Oct 2010, also my friend has criminal convictions but not serious drunk disordely etc from a long time ago does he have to declare all convictions or are they classed as spent over a period of time.

I am assisting him with his/her application as I did my own July 2011 but I can not recall this part of the application form, any help would be apprieciated.

  5. Hi just put in this morning citizenship application through the checking service, unlike the previous settlement/ ILR applications hardly any documents are required as 7by7 states, passports wifes/mine, marriage cert, & life in uk cert, looked sparce but was sufficient, just like to thank such people as 7 by7 for the free advice & time they spend answering posts on here, I have put together every visa through advice given on this forum & have had succes each time, many thanks to 7by7 for his very good advice I didnt understand why the op cudn't grasp your advice if he new better why ask ?

  6. The procedure is the register the birth with the authorities, and with the UK birth certificate your register the birth at the Thai embassy in London and at the same time you can apply for a Thai passport for the baby.

You can find the procedure and documents at the embassy website.

You have to do it in the UK, as the ambassy acts as the amphur for Thai people born in the UK and only they can issue a Thai birth certificate.

can the applications be done in a days visit, reason I'm asking is I live 3hrs from London, so would probably go by train, I would imagine the documents would be processed and forwarded at a later date

  8. Hi, in July my Thai wife will have been in the UK on settlement visa 2yrs, she has passed the Life in the UK test and will be applying for ILR 28 days before the 2yrs date, sometime in June, the problem I have is, I have read tht the ILR can take 6mnth to process, We are going back on holiday to Thailand in September, if we havent recieved the ILR before we go, her settelment visa will have expired, what will happen on returning to uk if the settlement visa is not valid :o

  9. Could anyone tell me when my wife will be able to apply for ILR, she came to the UK on the 1st day of her 2yr settlement visa, 17.07 2009 we have been on holiday back to THailand for three week and a further week in Spain, does the holiday period take the application date back, I am aware that she would be able to apply 28 days before 17th july 2011, do I then add the holiday period back on to give the new application date?

  10. It will be interesting to see how you get on. When a Thai lady friend came to stay in London a few years ago (on a 6 months UK visa) we enquired about a Schengen visa as she wanted to visit France as well. We were told by the French authorities both here and in Bangkok that she must apply for the visa in Bangkok. Getting a Schengen visa in the UK for a Thai national was not possible.

Consequently she never went to France. If the situation has changed that's very good news.

I think its different for thai's married to uk nationals on settlement visa's compared to a visiting thai on a 6mnth visitors visa.

there are posts stating thai wifes have already had visa's, just wanting a bit of info on what documents are needed
