I rarely drink.
It doesn't cause any concern with my local friends.
Initially the bottle collection man was a little suprised, the foriegner didn't drink copious amounts of beer, but got over it.
On the other hand had a very enjoyable evening, whilst visiting Petchabun got absolutely legless with some long haul lorry drivers.
Maybe don't give up to start with just go the occasional route, sometimes having a drink just fits the moment.
Obviously your choice.

I received my first licence, after an eight year wait.
I had visited the transport office on previous occasions to be met by long lines of customers.
I don't like queuing.
Went on Tuesday,it was cold first thing in the morning. In and out in less than an hour.
Having just bought a new vehicle helped me along, now all legal, for car and bike.

Report it to the police.
It may save you money in the long run.
Camera's are now being used to record traffic offences, using the rear number plate for recognition of offender.
Plate theft is becoming more common.
The attached photo,is what arrives in the post, along with a Baht 1000 fine, for this particular offender,my landlady.

If you think £9300.A big chunk of change, maybe you should reconsider.Hi ukrules,
Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me which visa i should be applying for if the tourist one is no good? I haven't heard of the Thailand Elite but will look into it, £9300 is a big unexpected chunk to cough up though! Haha.
Thanks for the tips on renting. Can you give me any pointers on how much the electric rates should be, just so i know i'm not getting ripped off? Are there any websites to check on this?
Cheers

The Thai Elite card is the best option for a person of your age and intended length of stay.
Check it out.

I know the road tax doesn't cover the road maintenance but it should, wouldn't you think.
Have u any idea of the cost of fixing one pot hole and what has happened to local govt funding who are responsible for just about everything other than motorways?Kannot.
The UK could fix the roads, they just choose not to.
Stock photos.
I am in the UK presently, the roads are atrocious.
My yearly road tax is £290.

permanent residents may have the right to carry?
in General Topics
Yes one can.
Google Thai gun licence.
I have considered applying as I regularly carry large sum of money or gold.
Unfortunately my landlady of many years prefers I don't have a weapon on the premises.
She makes a fair point that I haven't encountered any problems thus far so why carry a weapon which is a fair comment.
