  1. ^ Yes Global charges by the kilometer. As I was some considerable distance away, I bought the same refrigerator

for Baht 10k less and free delivery from NihomPanich beside Toyota dealer on Chotana.

  2. I wouldn't buy here after the coup.

You won't buy here because they are finally doing some thing about the corruption?

That can be taken several ways.

Any particular reason? do hope you are not saying you needed all the corruption in order to buy.

I won't buy for several reasons and one of the main one's is I think the bubble is going to burst.wai.gif

"....one of the main one's is I think the bubble is going to burst."

People have been thinking / saying that for the last two decades; bubble-burst- seriously doubtful.

  3. I'm surprised he didn't take a trip on the wild side to Isaan especially Kohn Kaen to witness their love of uncooked fish paste, despite exposure to the carcinogenic liver fluke. Mind you, simply adding field crab to one's somtam anywhere might also prove deadly over time.

Oh well, may be next time.

  4. There is a store, across from and west of the CMU Pharmacy sales building, on Suthep dedicated to all sorts of containers. A wealth of sizes, shapes and materials. Inexpensive.

Yes, they are likely to have the 100ml size.

It's a shop house, not well marked, so a short 'walkalong' is in order to pinpoint it.

  5. Recently poachers are resorting to poisoning the watering holes of numerous elephant herds, then de-tusking those with tusks, but killing all elephants including babies. Other vast quantities of wild fauna succumb too.

I had read somewhere, but can't find the source, stating the British Army has affiliated sniper teams with helicopters, to affected nation(s) to search out, capture or kill the poachers.

Now for a solution to the inhumane slaughter of dogs in Asia....

  6. If you rent or ride a motorbike without a valid motorcycle licence (home country or Thai) you will not be covered in case of accident.

If you are hospitalized because of an accident with a m/c as rider or as passenger, even with a proper license, you may well NOT be covered, or only partly covered. Best read the fine print!

  7. it is going to happen as a lot of empty places to rent, and many more being built.so it will happen but when is the question

Not so sure about your wishful 'will happen'.

Been here over two decades, and given various scenarios where one might be tempted to speculate that a property bust 'will happen', nothing of the sort has ever materialized.

The Thai owners would rather sit on the empty property for years rather than sell at a loss, and the loss they calculate is from current market prices.

Thai buyers prefer to purchase new.

If you are now thinking of buying a home or condo 'on the cheap' in Chiangmai or even its outskirts, it's too late; you've missed the proverbial boat.

  8. #20 Re:

"...It is something that should be purchased as soon as you arrive, when you're still fairly young and healthy, so you can wait out the normal 2-5 year restriction on excluding pre-existing conditions."

Is it true that pre-existing conditions have a time lapse in their restriction, apart from chronic illnesses?

If so it has never been applied to me with decades having been insured with Blue Cross. I had a Meniscectomy in college 40 years ago as a result of twisting my knee on take down during rugby. I've since had a long military career, teaching career and skied/ jogged for years without problems.

Because the initial insurance form wanted disclosure of any pre-existing conditions, I mentioned the Meniscectomy. Blue Cross and others continue to exclude any and all joint coverage despite this having occurred two-to-four decades previously - two decades when first taking out their medical coverage, to the present.

Insurance agencies seem to consider all pre-existing conditions as continuing. Any thoughts?

    Cheers
