^ Exactly. Many Thai medical specialists rotate throughout the city.
Try Klaimoor near Tesco on main Hwy to HDong just S of Airport Plaza, to see if your favorite surgeon practices there.
Great rooms (walk thru to see), reasonable prices.

Bought mine at Pharma.
I keep them handy along with 3% hydrogen peroxide, for my pets in case they're ever poisoned. They haven't, not in 16 years but..., so I replenish with new activated charcoal pills and H2O2. Good to give you time to get to the vet.
An Aside: Normal charcoal is not the same as activated charcoal but ordinary charcoal does a great job absorbing any untoward smells in the fridge or living room (not that anyone smokes these days).

Great photos Greenside. The Thais really know how to put on a celebration. I am still amazed at the King's parade each December, and fondly recall the SEA Games at the 700 Year stadium a decade or so past.
I missed the Son et Lumière show again. Last year it was 'snuck' by the general public too.
Anecdotal-ly I hear this is meant for only a select group. A shame really, for the Thai public, farang, and tourists alike - probably has to do with crowd management. Still, would go a long way to countering the less than stellar Phuket publicity.

4^ 'Edit, could nt attach picture, maybe the link will work?'
You need a minimum number of posts to post an image, I believe.
The more expensive work and military boots have steel toe caps and often steel sole shanks to counter nails and the like.
Lots of desert sand-colored US Army boots around these days. The normal US black leather army boot are few. The Thai army equivalent has a greyish sole with a blackened surround that has to be reapplied.
Ooh-rah! Service the target array...

@tango if it can double as a sleeping mat is not dense as the OP wants and not suitable for weights. If you look at the picture from my gym you see dense mat with softer mat on top. Too soft will make exercise dangerous (if its really 12mm soft)
Believe me...it's dense. Go ahead drop your dumbbells.
All my guests like it. So do I.
Great for whats ailing one's back.
Why not check it out, the location is handy. And no I have no commercial interest in the site. Just a quality Thai family business offering quality at a really attractive price.
Man. It's like 'spongebob' the mattress guru is hovering hawking his fitness wares.
It's a jungle out there.

Hi. A local Thai makes excellent exercise mats on Sri Poom/Sanamkila Rd, professional quality for a reasonable price.
Great for exercising or as a spare sleeping mat for guests.
Head north from Thapae Gate; top of and inside the khlong road about 200 meters as you round the curve going west, nearly opposite Wat PaaPao. It is between a bike shop before and a bamboo/wicker shop on the corner soi past it.
We'll be returning for more. They sell a standard length but you can order smaller versions.

PharmaCare opposite Rajabat 'university' has a professional collection of items; bought mine there

Best take your 'little run-around bike' to the Vehicle Registration office in Hang Dong opposite and near the end of the airport runway. That way they can assess the category. Very efficient office. They can then determine if both your 'little run-around bike' and yourself need registration and/or driver's license.
You may well also wish to determine whether or not your travel insurance covers damages when riding moto-assist bikes/motorcycles; many do not. BlueCross for instance, does, but at 50%.
As for screaming, you're on vacation; what's with the drama?

What's the most effective way to repatriate funds brought into Thailand?
I'm under the impression it's nigh impossible.Funds transferred and declared for purchase of condo was an exception, and that upon sale of condo those funds are easily(?) repatriated.
As for the baht 800K brought into Thailand for 'retirement visa' purposes, I am not so sure there is an easy repatriation method, when you decide to return to your motherland
Also there is the international banking limit plus home customs declaration if funds exceed or are even close to U$10,000 - US Homeland narcotics-funds laundering prevention now envelops most countries.
Bangkok Bank n Kasikorn ATM cards I am told can be used overseas to withdraw Baht in foreign funds, but that could prove expensive vis-s-vis ATM charges, as funds are necessarily withdrawn in steps to the limit of the bank's ATM.
Observations please.

I'm convinced. Where's a good place to purchase a quality unit in Chiang Mai?
Available at Amorn Electronics. Inside onn the right just past the cashier ladies. Big choice of a variety of filters.

^^ Hi, Ko. Thanks for your yoghurt methodology; but, I'm missing the recipe.
Probably a yoghurt starter is required, so where to buy. Cheers.

"I purchase insurance from the point of view of the service this company will provide if I get injured, have an accident, etc. On that basis I trust AA - and Manfred in particular - to come thru for me."
Hmm...it's not AA who has to come thru; but the Ins Co. they brokered for you.
And besides, how can you come up with that statement if as you say: " I have never made a claim, so have no first hand experience".
Sounds like an olde boys' club not unlike the many embassy staff congratulatory circles glad-handing one another over yet another year of 'service' - NOT.

It's been a decade or more and the price keeps climbing.Even saw it advertised on the Mae Rim Golf board some 4-5 yrs ago. Fun indeed...
-
^^ Yeah!
I used a digital camera to record all. Whoops - Forgot the tires which were severely worn. Two failed at once. Took a lot of time but after a year got my money back.
BTW move aside the flash ad on the hood or roof, may reveal scratches

#12 re- 'Yes okay you have all the pitfalls when buying 2nd hand but carefully checking around and try to buy one with full service history should do it. '
buy one with full service history - hellooo, in Thailand, NOT.
2nd Hand...DO NOT EVER EVER GO THERE! Even if some soft-spoken, greasy farang is talkin' you up. Take a waltz around the local wreckers' yards, where even the most twister, sister, is sold as new in a few weeks time.
Buy n-e-w, if not for practicality's sake; for that of your son.

^ Further to my last:
Here is a similar deduction(s) on home insurance for Kasikorn fans:
http://www.kasikornbank.com/EN/PERSONAL/LOANS/KHOMELOAN/Pages/KHomeLoanKasikorn.aspx
Special conditions
The borrower will get an additional loan rate reduction of up to 0.25 percent during the first year by following these criteria if
- they take out “Pitaksin-Home/Senior/Care” with the 100-percent sum of K-Home Loan limit insured, and selects the protection period that covers the entire loan term. ( 0.25% reduction)
- they take out “Pitaksin-Home/Senior/Care with other conditions as specified from the above condition no 2.1 (0.12% reduction)
-
Some banks will grant you an interest rate reduction, albeit small; though it is significant over time.
Bangkok Bank
" Customers who apply for the Home 1st credit protection insurance for at least 10 years or over their
mortgage period will receive a 0.25% discount per annum off the interest rate for the first year." - can't tell exactly but it may apply to houses bought or bult in an approved 'housing ptoject.
Loans for buying Bangkok Bank properties are significantly lower over the life of the mortgage; but, then that may be offset by the price you pay them for a property.
If you wife is a government employee, teacher par example, rates are even lower.
Probably wise to compare.

Go Sealy.
Whatever your choice, try the large department stores. Their prices, like Home Pro are high...very high.
But poke around, remove your shoes and test rest.
Then having an idea what you like; ask the sales folks when they expect their next sale.
If no reply walk slowly away saying you will check elsewhere: their sale will begin just then.
Had one chap at Central, after using his notepad to slash one price after another on the same product starting at B70,000, quote me B28,000. He said it will sell for less at their upcoming midnight sale at the time.

^^^^ '...soon the 2013 model year is upon us.'
Indeed and the 2013 Accord is a beauty to behold.
Best sell off 'yer olde modeles' before potential buyers see the new.

The infection started up just after my last haircut. The barber shaved my neck.
My rule of thumb is to 'never, ever allow a barber to shave or trim as part of a haircut'. A boil is the least of your worry considering they usually reinsert half a blade into a usually unclean razor with attendant blood tainting...think AIDS, whatever.
I carry a small spray bottle of alchohol in my backpack to immediately spray my neck area once I've left the barber shop. Since then no persistent neck rashes. FWIW.
Slingshots Anyone?
