Koh Chang, day today.....
A little island off Koh Chang, as seen from the boat.
No saturation, Dal.
Your leaning tower would feel at home on this island.
But not on my monitor!

I also have similar on my Photo Pills iPhone app. The apps are more handy but the charts are free!

Hey DAL, one thing you can do is to utilise the principle of hyperfocal distance. For a given focal length and f-stop you can find the hyperlocal distance. Once you focus on that point everything from half that distance to infinity will be in focus. I'll attach a URL where you can download a hyperlocal distance chart for your particular camera. I have downloaded the chart for my camera and uploaded it to my iPhone so that I can easily find hyperlocal distances for my lenses.

@Dal. In fairness PS also has the non destructive facility that appeals to you. Convert your RGB file to Lab mode (Lightness a and the curves ONLY affect Luminosity. No affect on colour. Convert back to RGB when satisfied.
Take a look at LCC also. Local Contrast Control.
Glad you're happy.
Can also use a PS curves adjustment with a Luminosity blending mode and the curves adjustment will only affect luminosity without affecting saturation. Might be a bit easier than converting to the LAB color space.

Hey fimgirl,
My workflow nowadays has me doing minor adjustments to my imported RAW images and doing the lions share of adjustments in PS. For example, in LR I will do basic WB adjustments, then do exposure, highlight/shadow recovery (to get a good initial histogram), perspective adjustments, noise correction, lens correction and import sharpening in LR. From there, all other adjustments will be made in PS.
Assuming this workflow (and that shooting tethered is not important to me), what advantages will I see by going to C1? I'm not being negative, I truly would like your educated opinion on this since I want to be able to produce the best output from my PP workflow.
Thanks for your post and your input!

That expression looks like a "don't mess with me or I'll kick your butt" expression! Love it. Well done.

Playing with the E-M1 focus bracketing feature. This is the result of 18 merged images:

Was this the JPEG that the camera created or did you merge RAWs in LR/PS?

Not really sure what the name of the place is but it is obviously a Chinese temple. Maybe they call it the "Leaning Tower"!

While not an Oly-person, I still found your write-up informative and helpful. I like the idea of automated focus bracketing rather than having to play with a rail system, especially since decent ones can get costly.
Thanks for sharing with us!

I took some sunset pictures, yesterday from a Wat in Mancha Khiri district, Khon Kaen.
Can't decide which one I like more so I put on 2 of them.
I vote for the one with the sunstar.

Great shot TP1
John, Thank you very much.
This shot was one of the 350 photos taken last night, trying to get a good sunset over Chonabot lake.
Unfortunately there was a light wind and the waters were rippled, so I didn't get the reflection effect.
At least I was compensated with the sun rays shining through the clouds.
But I keep trying......one day I will get it.
This is one with the lake, taken from the same spot.
Very nice shot TP1! Will we get to see the other 348 shots?
When the water is rippled like that you need to get a long exposure to smooth out the ripples and get the best reflections. That's gonna be pretty hard to do when you're shooting into the sun. You could look at getting a 10 stop neutral density filter which will increase your exposure time by a lot and allow you to smooth the water out. Just a warning though, if you take 350 shots with a 10x filter, you may have to pack some food . . . and maybe a sleeping bag!

Come on! Let's be honest here. Politics in Thailand is all about lining ones pockets. The transparency is there. Everyone knows that the politicians are selfish and corrupt and there is little effort to conceal it. What the political system lacks is integrity and honesty. And yes, I understand this is a problem world-wide! It's just that in Thailand it has been institutionalised.

[edit] @Stix, nice blue hour example, who turned off all the lights...?
@Alex, when did you take that? I see the white temple 2nd floor has been opened to the public..
Ah DAL, not yet blue hour here. Just a passing rainstorm in the distance. Maybe 45 mins before blue hour so, LIGHTS OFF!
