Many moons ago, I bought a Canon T70 - a wonderful experience.
Then, when in SGP, I bought a ??? with "cartridges".
Happy to have disposed of it.
Now, for the real amateur, Photoshop et al make a good photographer out of a novice?
Confession - I really enjoy reading the photo threads on TVF.
Hi fang37,
Photoshop et al will never make a good photographer out of a novice! Why not? Because, photo processing software, cameras, et al are merely tools. Does a nice set of paint brushes, quality oils and expensive canvases make a novice an artist? No, they're just tools. Artistry, good photography, comes from learning and PRACTICE. A good photographer is one who has studied and practiced their craft whether it be with an iPhone camera or an expensive Leica. Saying that the tools are responsible for making the art is the same as insulting the artist and demeaning his/her hard work and accomplishments.
Can YOU become a good photographer? Sure! Just apply yourself to study and ample practice with whatever camera you have available. You can practice the basics with a point and shoot camera. As you grow in skill and confidence then you can increase your tool set with more advanced gear and processing software.
Get started! Have fun! Enjoy photography!

Lovely! Where is this, @Fiddlesticks?
Many thanks! It's the Mae Sa waterfall in CM province (one of the 10 falls there).

Beautiful day, today.
The skies were blue-ish, the birds were chirping, the chickens and the ducks were crossing the roads everywhere in Issan ( I'm being romantic again )
But the burning question comes up in my mind again
Why did the cows cross the road?
That's easy! Trying to get away from the damn ducks and chickens!

Same with bamboo on Samui , Fiddles! very slow~ ! A bit like me these days!
By the way Assurancetourix arrived safely on Samui this morning, looking forwards to giving him and his family a grand tour, over the next few days ..
SJ, sorry to break it to you but you can't grow bamboo by sticking bamboo sticks in the ground.
Hope you and Assurancetourix (have to be careful not to abbreviate that name!) have a great time on Samui and take many memorable photos!

It took me 45 mins to download and resize them pics and re-upload again ^^^^ of the harvesters .... seeing Farm photos has just about died again, I thought I would add here,... Shaggy
Perhaps this shot is more "rural" ....? ..... Rice fields of northern Songkhla! Hard to believe that was 5 years ago now! I cut out the date!
Hey SJ, Five years! Rice sure grows slow in Songkhla!

Really impressed, guys. I'm an amateur myself, bought my first camera not too long ago. Here's a few from today, just studies in line, composition, and figure/ground. Harsh criticism welcomed!
Really like 1 and 4, well done! A few comments, I would have liked to see 1 and 3 captured in landscape format as the upper areas of the image lend nothing to the interest of the subject. Perhaps image 4 would have been better in portrait format since the doorway would act as a natural frame and scale and you would have avoided chopping off her legs. Also, you might consider a slight vignette in 4 to keep the viewers eyes in the frame as the sides are quite light and tend to take the eye out of the frame.
Hope to see more from you soon!
Welcome,
Stix

The scene driving into work this morning,,,,nearly crashed the f&%^*n car though whilst leaning out of the passenger side window with the camera in one hand and the steering wheel in the other!!!
Great capture. Though not worth crashing the car over, but darn close!

Or. . .
Thai version of a cruise ship vs. the version designed by the rest of the world.

THAILAND will trail all Asean countries in growth because its open economy and export dependence leave it directly exposed to the global and Chinese slowdowns
I thought it was because Thailand doesn't produce anything of any quality that the world wants except for rice. I also thought that it was because the level of education in Thailand is so low that the country is devoid of innovation. I also thought that the work ethic in the country is non-existent with reliance on tourist handouts and foreign kickbacks. Glad to find out that it is really the fault of the Chinese!!! What a relief to have these misconceptions dispelled!

This is a surprise. I have to think that any of these buffalo should be happy to spend the rest of their days with you! Some buffalo are just so darn fickle!!! Whatever you do, don't take their afront personally.

Bribing ACCUSATIONS!?!?!?!?! You mean FACTS. A blind monkey knows that the "Royal" Thai police are "Royal" crooks. Public safety is the LAST thing on their minds.
police commanders nationwide would know the best way to manage the operationsOf course they do. They've been managing these profit centers for years.

Gee, what an incredible insight! They also don't want to have to go to school, study, or be responsible. That's why their kids! What kind of imbecilic reporting is this?
Unfortunately, this predilection for irresponsible, lazy behaviour also manifests itself in the work ethic of this countries adults.
