  1. Q1. No

    Q2. Doesn't have to.

Q3. Presumably so; we'll know more when the CoA is eventually abolished.

Q4. An Anglican wedding is one conducted in an Anglican (Church of England) church by an Anglican vicar. If you wish to follow this route your first step would be to talk to your local vicar. Unless you are both members of the Church of England, and maybe also of his congregation, he may decline to marry you.

Q5. Yes, it is just as legal a wedding as one at a registry office.

Sorry for the late follow up. Thanks 7by7 for your reply!!!!

In regards to talking to the local vicar... there are a few churches in my town, how will I know which one is Anglican? Literally just by going an asking?

    Thanks again for your help.

  2. Well where to start… I have done a lot of searching but still have a lot of questions.

I have met a someone who is here in the UK on a student visa. The visa was originally for 1.5 years which now has 1 year left.

We want to get married and I understand that there are 2 routes we can go but I have so many questions even after all of my research and googling.

Route 1 Non Anglican Wedding/Registry Office

I am pretty sure the path we would need to take is this.

    1. Apply for COA (I understand that this is soon to be abolished though) (I also understand that her student visa should be valid for at least six months and at least three months must remain. I read this on the COA guideline forms.)

    2. Once approved Give notice to the Registry Office then get wed (yippie)

    3. Apply for FLR(M) (I understand this is extremely important.)

    4. Apply for ILR

    Questions I have though are:

Q1. Do you have to supply evidence/supporting documents with the COA application? On the app and guide form there is no mention of this. Nor is there any questions in regards to our relationship etc.

Q2. How will she show that she didn't intend to come to the UK on a student visa to then wed? She is currently on a 1.5 year student visa of which half a year has expired so I suppose that sort of shows she intended to come here to study as it's now a year down the line and only now applying for the COA. Any thoughts on this?

Q3. If we didn’t get the COA and the COA scheme was abolished what does that mean to us? Does this now mean we could just get married at a registry office with no questions asked and then just carry on with FLR (M) then ILR?

    Route 2 Anglican Wedding/Registry Office

I understand that you don’t need a COA to go down this route so the following would apply:

    1. Get wed (yippie)

    2. Apply for FLR(M) (I understand this is extremely important.)

    3. Apply for ILR

    Questions I have though are:

Q4. I have no idea about weddings full stop hence this being my first time so what is an Anglican wedding and can this be done at a registry office as well? (we just want a quite wedding and get the formalities out of the way so we can celebrate the wedding abroad)

Q5. Are you actually able to apply for FLR (M) after being wed via an Anglican Wedding?

I am really sorry for lengthy post but all these questions have arose from my searches and I am drawing blanks now.

Thanks so much if you can help.

  3. Hi 7by7, I am in fact speaking about the same person my partner is of trans gender. we have been together 6 years, i have stayed there , she has been here twice for 6 months now time to do our civil partnership.

I normal use 'she' but used he so not to get confused.

I dont think we spoke about dates or place in the letters and evidence we supplied but did state that is was our intention to register our civil partnership as soon as she arrives. Reason for this as we didnt know how long the visa would take to approve.

But she has been granted a VV twice and hopefully this should all be OK? we supplied everything apart from that, whoopping great big folder!

    Hi Thewayup

I didnt know about this, hopefully htis wont be needed :)

    ---

We applied early june so just waiting!

  4. Hi everyone.

Hope you can help with a quick question...

My partner and I put our visa application together and he went to bangkok to apply and at the desk they mentioned we didnt have maridge papers, so he has got a bit worried.

But I thought you cant give 'notice' until you have this visa.

and I looked on http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/civilpar...otice/index.asp and have taken the below.

'Are you subject to immigration controls?

If you are you will have to give notice of your intention to register a civil partnership at a designated office but will not be able to do so unless:

    * you have an entry clearance granted expressly for the purpose of registering a civil partnership in the UK'

So am I right in that there isnt anything we can give in this respect?

Thanks for your help it will stop alot of worrying on his part.

    Thanks

    :)

  5. Hi

My same sex partner and I are applying for a proposed civil partnership visa, but I am not sure what to put in some sections of the form. Hope you could assist.

    1.5 marital status?

do we put him as single? or unmarried Partner? We have been in a relationship for 6 yrs but not sure what to put.

4.11 Full name of spouse/partner? here it says if single got to 4.16

So do i put my name here? I know I put my name in the sponsor section but not sure about this part

then the same would apply for 4.12-13

if i am classed as his partner/spouse i think i copuld fill out 4.14-21 no problem.

8.6.7 Do you intened to work in the uk? if yes please give details.

He has put Once we have registered our civil partnership and I am lawfully able to work in the uk i will actively look for employment. (will this surfice?)

    Hope you can help us.

    Thank you

  6. I know there is a civil partnership route, but we dont really want to do thatl.

My question is can we apply for and an unmarried settlement visa???

As I understand it, you have not lived together in a partnership akin to marriage for 4 years, which disqualifies you from the unmarried partner route.

    BIA Website, unmarried partnership visa

    See section 295A ( B )(i)

Your only route would be the civil partnership one that you mentioned.

But then in section (i) (a) it says about 2 years...

    (i) (a) the applicant is the unmarried or same-sex partner of a person present and settled in the United Kingdom or who is on the same occasion being admitted for settlement and the parties have been living together in a relationship akin to marriage or civil partnership which has subsisted for two years or more; or

A bit confusing can you or anybody shed anylight on that? Are we still not able to apply as we havent lived in the same house together for 2 constant years?

I dont think (:o(i) applies to me as I have been a UK resident from birth. see this sentence from the web page you supplied.

    or

(:D(i) the applicant is the unmarried or same-sex partner of a person who has a right of abode in the United Kingdom or indefinite leave to enter or remain in the United Kingdom

    Thanks for help so far.

  7. Hi Everyone,

It's been a while since I last posted on here!

A quick bit of background before I ask a few questions...

I meet my same sex partner in 2003 and we stayed together for around 4 months.

I came back to UK and went back to Thaliand in 2004 for 4 months.

I then came back to the UK again and went back to Thailaind in 2005 for 10 months.

In 2006 we applied for a 6 month Visitor Visa and was granted but before my partner came I decided to buy a house so we never used the visa.

We applied fo a second VV in Feb 2007 this was granted and my partner came to stay with me in my new home for 6 months.

We applied for a third VV in December 2008 and my partner returned for a futher 6 months and this VV will expire in May 2009.

After reading the below from http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/in...dswivespartners

    see my comments please...

How do I qualify to join my unmarried or same-sex partner in the UK?

You and your unmarried or same-sex partner must show that:

    * any previous marriage, civil partnership or similar relationship, has permanently broken down - N/A

    * you have been living together in a relationship similar to marriage or civil partnership for two years or more - not actually living together but our relationship is 6 years strong.

    * you have suitable accommodation which is owned or lived in only by you and your household, and where you and your dependants can live without any help from public funds - YES

    * you can support yourselves and any dependants without any help from public funds - YES

    * you intend to live together permanently - YES

    * your partner is not under 21, and - NO

    * you are not under 21. - NO

The Entry Clearance Officer will need to see evidence of a two-year relationship. This may include:

    * documents showing joint commitments, such as bank accounts, investments, rent agreements or mortgages, and

    * letters linking you to the same address, and official records (such as a gas or electricity bill or proof of your rent or mortgage arrangements) of your address

I know there is a civil partnership route, but we dont really want to do thatl.

My question is can we apply for and an unmarried settlement visa???

    Hope you can help.

  8. I've been banned for a year now but not missed live much as I play PS3 if I want to play online (which is free to play)

A few games have had updates since then and all went through ok

MS will change their deshboard next month and I expect this will make it's way onto game DVDs shortly after. No word yet if this has extra protection etc

Yea im not worried about being banned, just was worried that it would some how brick the machine. Havent heard of that happening, but with the new dashboard wouldnt suprise me. Figured i would ask first.

Just waiting for my order of Fallout 3 to come in.

    Hi

I have had a modded ellite for over 2 years now and I have installed every update for every game and console. You'll be fine. I have played online for 2 years also and have not been banned.

Luck of the draw, but I can sefely say you won't brick it!

  9. Hi all

Visa passed and now just have to plan when to get the ticket.

I would like to thank Scouse for all his work on and off the scenes and I'd like to thanks everyone who's a member of this site for all the help and susport you have given.

If you read this site and do your research there is no reason you shouldn't be able to get your partner a visa for UK (within reason lol)

    Thanks again to everyone

    Ash.

  10. Slightly off topic.

Live have been living in LOS on and off for bout 4 years now and have always had a chipped PS2

Have you guys all got non modded PS3 and using genuine PS3 games - or do you have modded PS3's and using copied games?

I was on the understanding that with the PS2 if using copied games you was unable to play games online - is this the case with PS3 whats the crack with this.
