  1. can I write a letter for her and get her to sign it? As the letter would be of a higher level of grammar and English (not much though :o ) is this going to be a problem or can I write away and get her to sign it?

Was just going to outline our relationship, details of documents she will provide IE statements, title deeds to the land she owns etc.

Yes you can prepare a word processed/typed letter for her, she justs signs it (and is aware of what is in it), it's no different to her employing secretarial or translation services.

    Good luck with her application

    Thanks for your help.

    Chok Dee :D

  2. Hi all,

    Just a quick one I promise :o

My girlfriend and I are preparing the necessary documents for her visit to UK for a month and she will be supporting the trip herself so I thought as part of the long list of letters documents etc it would be good for her to put a letter from herself in to.

She has over 1.5M BHT in the bank in 2 different accounts and is going to use this money to sponsor her trip, can I write a letter for her and get her to sign it? As the letter would be of a higher level of grammar and English (not much though :D ) is this going to be a problem or can I write away and get her to sign it?

    Thanks for all your help.

    Happy New Year.

    Thanks

    Ash

Can I ask why you would like to visit ?

Why do you think??? To See the children with smiles on their faces! and to donate money!

Spose CM will have to wait a few years. Wouldn't be anywhere else if I could help it.

  7. I see so where itt says CPU temp thats obviously the CPU and where it says MB temp thats the chipset temp???

I have decied to buy the big blue heatsink and also buy a 40mm fan which I will mount on the heat sink too so will be extra cool

That is correct (MB = Mainboard chipset - northbridge). Zalman are very good coolers. If you haven't ordered it yet you can get it in Thailand here > http://www.jedicool.com/list.php?cate=9 for 290 baht. I've order from them before (big cooler for my CPU) with no problems. Also, make sure you have enough verticle space to mount the new heatsink.

I got to change my location staus currently in Sunny England at the mo.

I think the heatsink and fan together should be a good addition to my pc :o

  8. How do you fnd out the temp of your chipset IE the N4force chip as pictured above not the CPU

With the Asus mainboard you will have a utility called Asus Probe. If you have installed it from the mainboard CD, just pop it up and it will show CPU temp, fan speeds, Mainboard (chipset) temperatures, etc.

These 2 items I will marry together once arrived.

    HEATSINK

    FAN

  9. FWIW, I had a similar problem just a couple months after purchasing my A8N-SLI Deluxe MB. It was a noisy and slow death. Shortly after the main 8cm fan in the back of front of the PC case died too.

As a replacement I purchased a north bridge heat sink (no fan), and a 10cm replacement fan for the case. I've have had a happy MB since. Even though I operate my PC in a room with no A/C, in Thailand, my chipset temp never rises any hotter than it did with the fan.

I do not play video games (constantly) or modify the default MB settings to make my PC run faster. I would imagine if you do you may require additional cooling.

BTW, removing the chipset fan is easy, firmly press down on each corner the unit and clip the four plastic pegs with a wirecutter or knife. Watch out for bouncing springs and remainders of the pegs when you cut.

    Thanks

  10. Thanks to both of you for your speedy replies but I'm actually after information regarding the chipset not the cpu maybe thats where the confusion is??

I have gained some info from another forum with this great guide which you may be intrested in just for your information.

    Removing fan

Going to buy a heatsink instead as that wont be failing.

    Thanks for your help!!!!

  11. Hi

I have an ASUS A8N5X Mother Board and the chipset fan is not working I know where you plug the fan into is fin as have plugged another fan in and it runs fine.

Tried to take the fan off but don't know how and not sure if it does come off or if it actually attached to the chipset.

Here’s the one I'm on about

    post-17137-1163449482_thumb.jpg

I can see there is 3 screws behind the fan and that there are 2 black spring loads next to it but even if you push on these it don't matter as they are attached to the same part you need to lift off.

Do you think the fan has just gone and packed up as i know the socket is fine and the MB is only 5 moths old but has been on constantly or do you think it could be the wiring of the fan????

Or can I run my PC without this fan I doubt as it wouldn’t be there!

And anyone know how to remove it?

    Any help welcomed!!!

(No warranty on this MB to as brought it abroad and took it home)

  12. Just to add if I put these dvd+rw discs in my CDR/DVDreader drive and go to "my computer" I can open the disc but if I but them in the DVD burner no joy and get that error message from windows

  13. Hi

    O/S Windows XP PRO SP2 MainBoard - ASUS A8N-5X CPU - AMD ATHLON 3000+ 512 x 2 Kingston DDR 400 PCI EXPRESS XFX GeForce FX 5200 256MB - HDD's SATA II Seagate 80GB & SATA II Maxtor 250GB 16MB Cache

I have been using dvd-r discs to do some recording but i thought I'd get some re writable ones too.

The ones I have are dvd+rw but when i go to record or erase i get error messages. When i go to access the disc via my computer it says windows can't read disc may be corrupt or not using a format that windows recognizes.

Like I said I have been successful recording with dvd-r discs.

will it not burn because these are dvd+ discs ???

my recorder is Samsung TS-E552U 16X DVD±RW Dual Layer External USB2.0

I am using Nero vision to record and nero back up to do my erasing both give errors but as soon as I burn the project with dvd-r discs all is fine.

dvd recorder is making odd noises when I put the dvd+ discs in but cant see im doing anything wrong please help me.

  14. Hey all

    O/S Windows XP PRO SP2 MainBoard - ASUS K8N-5X CPU - AMD ATHLON 3000+ 512 x 2 Kingston DDR 400 PCI EXPRESS XFX GeForce FX 5200 256MB

Everytime I use NV to encode for EG 5 avi files to DVD whenever you get about half way through each episode the audio goes out of sync.

I have tried do the burning whith no other progs running and not using my PC at all when its running but still alweays same results.

I don't care how fast to encode and burn, if it talkes 10 hours to encode 3.5gb of avi to mpeg then burn it to DVD i dont care as long as the audio stays in sync.

But the main thing I like about NV is its easy to set up a menu and very easy to use.

    Anyone got any ideas?

I recently tried to convert an .avi file to MPEG2 with TMPGENc (prior to authoring it to DVD with TMPGENc DVD Author). However the audio went out of sync in the resultant file.

I next tried a freeware program called Avi2Dvd which kept perfect audio/video sync (although took 10 hours or so on my low spec computer to finish).

    May be worth a look.

Just got AVI2DVD but you can only encode 1 file and burn it to dvd. I am burning a few episodes of a series so need to be able encode multiple files and burn all onto 1 disk

    Any ideas?

Right tried the version of NEro Waldwolf said same probs!

Will try TMPGEN if I can work it otu, seems as though you can only encode and burn 1 file per time of am I being silly?

    Ash

  16. agsnowdon - It is my understanding most audio sync loss is due to "frame loss" during the burning process. This could be due to many factors, including defects in the burning software itself.

You indicate you were using Nero, but which version? Have heard Nero v7.2.x.x definitely has audio sync issues, but the earlier v7.0.x.x works just fine. (The latest release is v7.5.7.0 (Nero Vision v4.7.0.9), but haven't had time to test it.)

The least expensive way to go, for now, may be to try an earlier version.

    good luck

    waldwolf

Thanks for that I shal see if I can get hold of that. Any ideas of where I might be able to get it?

Well I have got Nero 7 and when I got to nero vision and "about@ it says 4 so not sure what I have got?

    Any ideas?

  17. Sorry are you sure you have a AMD ATHLON 3000+, my g/f has a similar config and she doesn't take that long to code 4 or 5 GB of AVI to DVD.

Think you need to have another read, your advice is appriciated though!

I said I dont care if I can find a prog that will code and burn 3.5gb of avi files in 10hrs as long as there is no audio sync loss or quality loss.

My spec will code and burn over 5gbs in about 2.5hrs max but klike I said am having problems with the auidio sync.

    Cheers though :o

  19. Why are you driving, by the way? It's more expensive than taking a budget flight, even with 2-3 people when factoring everything in? And then there's parking charges, etc. ? Or is it that you'd like a car there when returning to BKK and then tour around?

    Cheers,

    Chanchao

Second that, can easy go pull out a flight from your local travel agent

    Ash :o

  20. Well I have only just brought my system, well its about 6 months old and consists of the following.

    O/S Windows XP PRO SP2

    MainBoard - ASUS K8N-5X (939)

    CPU - AMD ATHLON 3000+

    512 x 2 Kingston DDR 400

PCI EXPRESS XFX GeForce FX 5200 256MB

    Seagate 80gb SATA 2

    Maxtoor 250gb SATA 2 7200RPM with 16mb cache

I understand that AM2 is comming into place but I think this set up will do me for at least another year or so.

If I set the prority to below normal on Nero Vision I can do everything else fine.

Jing Jo, You mention my system might not be set up right, any ideas or futher tips on how to do this as I'm abit of an amature.

Do you think this spec is built to go together???? if so where and how can I improve for performance?

I have no idea on the following

    ddr1 or ddr2

    latency timings

    speed of the chips

Or how to change settings for my CPU I wouldn't want to do this without advice as not to sure how or what to do.

As for the CPU fan its great quiet can't comment on the temp but my 2 hard drives always run between 38 - 40.

If you or anyone could help that would be cool!!!

waldwolf, thanks for your info as I won't be upgrading anything really for a year or so AM2 dosen't come into play but your info is much appriciated!

Just looked on the asus website this board number you list is not there are you sure it's not a gigabyte board?

    see link

    http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Mother...Type=socket+939

have a look at the board listed in system properties or install interogation software and get a definitve model number and manufacturer then look at the specs on the website for your upgrade + settings options

the worst things on this combo are the graphics card and the amount of memory (quality is good though so buy same type and speed is it pc3200/3700 or what? then the cpu you should be able to fit a faster cpu (up to 4200 and maybe even a x2 cpu 4800 lots of Bht though :o

    cheers

    Hi JJ

    Its actually a A8n-5x

    http://uk.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&...amp;modelmenu=1

Could you help me with the setttings? please

    Hey tywais

You beat me too it lol

  21. I have been burning alot of avi files to dvd using nero vision and burn't 2 avi files today to dvd, problem I get alot is that the audio goes out of sync. The audio is in perfect sync in the avi file so why is the audio getting out of sync?

Is this because during transcodaing I'm using up the cpu too much with something else? or is it during burning? or is it just one of those things? any way round this or to prevent this?

Not related to the CPU time. This is one of those 'tough' questions to answer. It has to do with the way the audio is embedded in the AVI file. Sometimes transcoding will 'skew' the time between them because of different sample rates of the audio versus video. I've had this issue myself and it takes a bit of work to get it right by using software that allows you to add/subtract a skew time.

Also some transcoding software works better then others at syncing it. You might download and try TMPgenc (google) it is free and gives some flexibility in the encoding process. Problem is that it adds an additional step to the already time consuming process. It encodes from the AVI format to the mpeg (DVD) format then the mpeg has to be run through a DVD authoring software and then burned.

This is one of the reasons I stopped making DVDs and just built a low end multi-media computer. Now I can play avi/mpg/etc directly from the PC to my plasma TV. Saves countless hours and frustration from the myriad of problems trying to make a DVD. :o

    Cheers for your help!

    Time for bed now!

Just looked at those sites and some great reading there, and will await anymore input anyone has.

    Cheers!

    Ash :D
