  1. Its the rear bush of the lower suspension control arm. No lube , just a dry bush. Can replace separately , but if you replace the complete control arm that includes the lower ball joint too. Then get track rod ends and tracking  ( 4 wheel ) checked. 2K is very good price.

I remember going down to Bristol , in England , to have a look at the new Yamaha WR 400 2-Trak at Fowlers. it had an advantage in sand - not my favourite medium - but the extra weight of about 8 KG counteracted its advantage elsewhere. The front wheel got up to 10% power.

  3. This wont be a problem. Thais miss payments all the time. Just get het to keep the shop informed of the current situation. Many will be in the same position. Then she can pay the 50% extra over the next 2 months , as you said. The shop may apply a small extra charge because of this , but they will be most concerned /relieved they are still getting paid. Thai finance is not good value. They wont re-possess the bike quickly.

  4. The twin round headlamp models , 92/93 are collectable. Yours has the air holes , but fox eye lights , so maybe late 93/early 94. Have you confirmed with eng/chassis .numbers. Urban tiger model is beautiful. I had a 98 model. They went FI in 2000 and it was rubbish. I was invited by Stratford Honda , near my home in England , to try the first version of the Fireblade SP. It wasnt very good. Not compared to my Aprilia Factory anyway.

  5. Difficult to value without upsetting someone , but i think , if all paperwork/greenbook is OK , about 80K. Blades in England begin at this price and the bike will be sought after there. In Thailand its just a big bike with scarce spare parts. I know you arent selling (wishing a long and happy ride). Had a 98 model.

The story i heard exposed this story as a fake. The "stranded" guy claims to have put this contraption together by himself , in the middle of nowhere. It was later found to have been welded together in his garage , as witnessed by a neighbour. 2cv,s didnt come with welding equipment as an option. I dont know if anybody can shed any further light on this.

Excellent vid' of the Vulcan and Lanc's B P .. have a Bentley blower replica fitted with a Merlin complete with personalised plate in return ..

Another behemoth that put the Merlin in 4 wheels was John Dodd's " Beast " from the late 70's early 80's though contrary to legend it is the Meteor version shorn of the supercharger and some of the other ancillaries required on the aviation Merlin .. this Meteor lump was put in main battle tanks of the day and even in this level of tune without the charger still put out 850 hp and it is said made Beast the most powerful road legal car in the U K at the time ..

J D was an auto transmission specialist who was approached by the owner of the rolling chassis of Beast complete with engine about trying to find a gearbox capable of transmit the huge amount of torque put out by it , a modified G M autobox was suggested as no manual transmissions capable of handling the power were available aside from truck gearboxes .. J D then acquired it and had a " body " layed up in fibreglass for it to complete the project .. though looker it is not by an stretch of the imagination or squinting of one's mince pies .. Beast hit the headlines 40 yrs ago when R R themselves took Doddy to court over the unauthorized use of the Roller grille , Spirit of Ecstasy emblem that disappears inside the rad' and some Rolls Royce badging .. He even drove it to London parking outside the High Court .. in the event he lost the case though managed to keep Beast after it is said his counsel told him shortly before the judgement not to turn up in the car anymore or it would be seized if it went against him ..

J D relocated to Spain to continue as an auto trans specialist along with Beast now minus everything R R wanted removed where it would be occasionally wheeled out for exhibitions , show's , etc , though with a fuel consumption said to be 2 mpg at best it's not a long distance tourer ..

Whether it now still exists or runs I know not but if anyone here knows ?

John was required to attend court twice. On the second occasion , he arrived on a white horse ! He didnt get off scot free , but was allowed to keep the car , minus the RR insignia. He is not spoken too well of at the RR/Bentley club. The car still exists , but its in a poor state. The Honda NR developed closer to 110 BHP , but had a smooth power/torque curve. It never really worked , and was nicknamed the Never Ready.

  8. When you first start the car , the engine seems to seize/stall on the starter motor. Then it fires up. If this was a petrol engine i would suspect the ignition timing to be too advanced. On a diesel - unless its hydro locking due to a weeping head gasket , noticeable by steam from the exhaust upon start up/very slight water consumption - id suspect the diesel injection timing to be out/too advanced. Can Toyota check this. I must admit the noise is very slight and doesnt sound to be impending doom. A diesel injection specialist can phase and calibrate your injectors , and check the pump timing. Use a marker pen on your coolant expansion bottle to keep an eye on the level.

  9. I thought about the fuel system , but fuel alone wouldnt then make the engine run quiet after 5 minutes. Shell V-Power is about as good as you can get , with less than 10% palm content , by some accounts. While your at the dealers , get them to change the fuel filter. Their diagnostic equipment may show up an issue with the EGR/emission equipment. Bearings and engine/gearbox mounts wont go suddenly quiet after 5 minutes , but good suggestions. Get them to "block" the exhaust end with a rag/bung while the engine is ticking over and have someone very carefully listen around the exhaust manifold by-pass valves/cat  area .
