Excellent reviews on Stallions which are Mash bikes in Europe on Youtube--most have never ridden them here and are racist and will never try one. Google some MASH reviews lots online and many happy users in Europe/UK. Ignorance is not bliss and yes i own and love my Honda too.Check out KOVE bikes fr what China has coming next, they will be the next Japan of innovative bikes.

KOVE bikes have being receiving fantastic reviews from many testers , however ive been in touch with them (very professional response) and sadly there are no plans as of yet to import into Thailand. Maybe they need to be sure of a decent customer base , before commiting to opening dealerships. The Mash bikes seem to get good reviews if your after a stylish cruiser type bike.

Anything above pH 7 is alkaline. Some coolants have triethanolamine as a buffer agent, which raises the pH to 8.

I seriously doubt alkaline pH is the cause of the attack on the "glue", it's far more likely organic compounds such as ethylene glycol are responsible for the glue being degraded.

Trust me, I was a chemist before I morphed into a research scientist.

Modern antifreeze/coolants have OAT technology (organic acid technology) so they no longer taste sweet , to prevent accidental consumption. Older vehicles may not be suitable to this newer stuff , including the dreaded Ethanol.

    Killer story.

    Have you written a book?

A book . Good idea.  I remember when the "Grey imports" came out. There was even a monthly magazine dedicated to them. Bikes you couldnt get in England. The biggest shop seemed to be BAT motorcycles. A friend bought a NC 30 from DK motorcycles (Stoke ?) and asked me to ride it home to Solihull. Went rather well. The willingness to rev and the razor like handling sets these small race replicas apart from the more agricultural bikes.  The Tiger would have been an excellent choice too.

  4. Hello all. I will be returning to Chiang Mai in April. I usually stay for 2 months , but this time intend to stay for 3 months. Would it be easier to get a 90 day visa in the UK (if possible) or should i get my usual 60 day visa , and extend it once i arrive ?.  If so . how do i best do this. Also , do i book the return flight the same time as the outbound flight. Ie , up to 90 days later. Im concerned if i dont get the extra 30 day extension , i will have to re_book the return flight. Many thanks.

Yes, an auto, as I use B-Quik for basic stuff, I had them change the 4x4 axle oil, they just showed me Mobil gear oil of the right type for the job.

The minor prob with the 4x4 disengaging was a bit of a pain, at times I had to stop the truck, put it in reverse, move a metre, then it would disengage, as an auto is always using force when in drive I thought that might be the prob, anyhoooo, the prob was solved with I assume a different brand of oil..

Cheers. It could have been slight axle/trans wind-up causing the disengagement issue.

I think the 16 km 4x4 axle is a bit OTT, after all, they say don't use 4x4 on dry black top, which in this country is a bit difficult. My 4x4 I just knocked it into 4x4 every month or so on a straight bit road, never had any issues except with disengaging at times, changed the oil to Mobil, problem solved.

When you swapped out the original axle oil / transfer case oil ( not the gearbox oil ) , what Mobile oil did you use. Was this on an auto motor. Thanks.

On the CM-Lamphun Rd. In the Talad Nong Hoi area in front of the Holiday Inn a first-rate cobbler sets up his trade on most days of the week.

He has done work for me on several occasions to my complete satisfaction at very reasonable rates.

Ive used this guy before , for motorbike boots. Superb service. He is just a few meters away , and on the same side , from the Queen Victoria Farang cemetry.

If you can still contact the original owner he can sign a transfer affidavit to transfer the bike into your name.

Hes long gone. i dont mind the book being in another name. Taxed/insured previous years no problem. Dont intend to sell bike. Thanks.

Sure but that's a different story. The main point here is how long can one backpay taxes and keep the same registration. 3 years. Jeff should be fine.

And the added problem of the green book not being in my name. This is what could loose me the bike as i wont be able to get another reg without the origanal owner/ affidavit . Cheers.

Didn't this come up in another thread and the conclusion was the number plate changed so it actually expired and was registered newly? I remember us argueing about that before ????

And yes Jeff, the limit is 3 years.

Thank you. Thats the official information i was after. Going over 3 years just means re-registering the bike , but without an affidavit from the long gone origional French owner , i cant re-reg. As i have always taxed/insured the bike for the last 7 years with another name in the green book , i see no need to change as i dont intend to sell the bike. Many thanks for your help.
