They were never called that, at least not by the guys that raced them!

BTW one can still buy it in small bottles from local "hole -in-the-wall" mocy parts places.

Smells good , dont it. When i raced a Norton Villiers kart , at 10 to 16 years old  i thought we called them go-karts , in England.. Long time ago , so maybe im wrong. Ive raced them since , and call them karts.  No Castrol R 30 though.

  2. I confess i havent ridden a 113 cc GD  , nor checked its fuel consumption. I wont ride a wave. I once checked the KM/L on a Lifan 200cc x-cross dual-sport under normal road cruising conditions. 42 MK per L. Thats 118 MPG. Interesting , but has little effect on my wealth or buying decision. I mentioned the Stallion as id be tempted to go for this. The modified red flat-tracker / bobber / board racer style looks great. IMO.

From my personal experience all my friends come to Thailand and lived here for few years have at least one motorcycle or scooter accident. I think there is a big room in improving safety of scooters and motorcycles.

In case of panic braking for example on motorcycle without ABS and no combined braking  there is a high chance driver react or start braking too late or lock wheels due to overbraking and falls. You need press clutch first and right after press both brakes one by foot and one by hand. You also need to consider the fact hand reaction is faster than foot, especially if you ride in motorcycle boots and yout foot is somewhere on foot peg.

If you drive motorcycle with automatic  transmission, combined braking system and ABS, you only need to press one brake by hand with full force. This give you and advantage for about 1 second, and zero chance to lock wheel.

You say ALL your friends have had at least 1 motorbike accident in Thailand. Read this over and over to yourself a few times.  NOW , i dont know you or your friends , but , did they come to Thailand with FULL motorbike licences.  If not , the cause of all these accidents may not lie in in the fact that their motorbikes / scooters didnt have adjustable    seats. Im not trying to be a smart arse , but consider some good rider training and advanced defensive riding courses , for your sake , and ours.

Yes all very well....bla bla bla..... so how does it compare with the Wave, we were getting 204-206 mpg when we tested ours when new. We paid 34k baht for that......

    Different tank that's all....

Power , speed and fuel consumption seem about equal.. Just a matter of which style you  prefer , a step-through , smaller wheeled scooter , or a more traditional looking motorbike. Seems the OP will soon be a Suzuki owner. A well built bike that lends itself to future enhancements.

  5. Hybrids may be the best alternative for the next few years , but the electric source for everyone needs to be cleaner.  Solar seems to come with less enviromental  problems than both ( bird strikes ) wind or hydro (land flooding / fish re-location ). A 20K electric scooter wont last long. The decent ones from Zero are 800K to 950K. Even the cheaper ones i see at Big C are 55-60 K and i wouldnt expect them to have a service life anywhere near that of a petrol scooter , say a Yamaha Filano , that costs 52 K and can do 60 KM/PL , thats 170 MPG. Not exactly causing much impact , is it.

Yes....my bad. When they first came out they were cheaper but I guess they went up or the dealer I saw them at had a deal on.

No problem mate. If they were 34K new , it may not have been worth buying second hand , if service history / oil changes cant be verified.

  7. You need to kick-start these bikes with intent  and meaning , in boots. In England i still have 3 500 cc KTM 2-strokes , kick-start only , they wont bump , unlike a Honda XR 650 R i had. Wheel truer , my late mother - bless her - was once a wheel lacer / spoker for BSA in Birmingham. She loved old Brit bikes.

  8. 112 cc and a manual clutch/gearbox means it is as "fast" than most scooters , and ripe for modification when funds allow. Would make a good run-around , that looks more like a motorbike than moped , and just as cheap to run.  An alternative is a 150 cc Stallion or an older CBR 150 , or a scooter. I thought they were 39K.

  9. Last year a friend borrowed his bosses Nissan Leaf .Took it for a spin up to 88 MPH to see if i went "Back to the future". I didnt , but in 3 Miles - 5 KM , it used 15% of its battery under hard driving. Even with a larger , more advanced battery i wouldnt risk going further than 100 KM from home or you wont get back. Unless you can find a charging station and have several hours to waste. The problem with electric cars ( until the  battery range can be doubled / charge time halved ) is that 99% are bought to supplement a "proper" car. So the massive amount of extra pollution created in producing your extra car ( its production carbon footprint ) will not be off-set due to "cleaner" running for many years. Its been estimated to take 100,000 KM before break-even point is reached. Then theres the battery life , 6 to 8 years , and its replacement cost , both financial and enviromental.  The "Total Life" carbon footprint of a supliment EV is higher than a standard ECO car when everything is added up.  Things will improve , but not for a least 6/8 years.

"What is not very clear on the photo is that the first yellow sign is from the slip road and the second from the main road, indicating to both roads have priority."

Again, why do you reach the conclusion one is for the main road and the other for the slip road? It seems more logical, since they are on the same side, they are for the same road.

Look carefully at both yellow signs. ( i wouldnt have noticed this when driving , but then regardless of signs , i look left/right/up ! ). The second signs  THICK black vertical arrow shows a THIN black line on its left side , meaning a minor road can join from the left. Correct.  The first yellow sign also has a thick black arrow , but this one has a thin black line on the right. Wrong. Its a major 2/4 lane road on the right and the line should be THICKER than the arrow.  A tricky one to spot.

  11. tg , thank you for the kind offer. I think a few hours in your workshop would be great , although its been a few years since i milled and turned on a Bedford. And your  a few hours from Chaing Mai.  That heavy crank on the Triumph must require a leap from the upstairs window to fire it up.  Im assuming the trial Yams are well.  In the bike garage , whats that blue frame on the far left shelf - wheel truer ?.

Will Honda dealers be selling it at the RRP, or demanding 10-20k baht on top if it's popular?

Another 10-20K on top of the already " 20K too high" price of 100K ?. I dont think Honda "dealers" will be so stupid .They must know and accept there is too much competition , from many other companies , for them to continue to rip off/overcharge customers. Many people are looking elsewhere for there next bike , and many are buying better quality/value bikes from elsewhere. At first i thought the photo was a photoshop fake , but it seems real. If  -  IF  , Honda can get their build / component quality issues sorted i think its competition for Yamaha etc ( bobbin , i dont dislike Hondas , im just sadly disapointed they have lowered their standards over recent years as i believe they are capable of so much more. Although looking at the F1 fiasco , i may be wrong ) and more competition is a good thing for everyone. Just think back 7/8 years.

  13. TG , everytime i read these informed write-ups and replies from yourself , i have to read them more than once so the technical information slowly sinks in. Ive worked on more modern cars , bikes , boats , and strokers , ( even my neighbours plane ! ) , but not old / Brit / HD stuff. You certainly know your craft. Do you offer workshop tours .  He He.

  14. Blatant copy of the far higher quality Yamaha. Is this all Honda can offer , after 7 years. Im assuming , as with other Hondas , it uses many Chinese made components , but where is is put together. Many Hondas come from India , Brazil Thailand etc and this will effect its price. As most Hondas are 20% overpriced , it needs to be cheap , but its a very nice looking bike - like a Yamaha.
