  1. PTP showing leadership... let's hope a new date is set for elections and the PDRC thugs are kept at bay

if the Dems do not fight another election it will be another nail in their political coffin

    Showing leadership ?

I note however that they are not going to sent their leader.

Lets hope that PT can control their red thugs should any court verdict go against them, assuming of course they want to control them and not encourage them.

They'll be lucky enough to scent her!!!

She has enough history to be labelled as the new Scarlet Pimpernel

  2. Well ignoring the usual "if it's PTP, let's hate it" naysayers on here just what would have been the reaction and reflection on the confidence in the Thai economy if the Thai FM had not turned up?

Yes, that was the sage advice by several "astute political analysts" on here who were demanding that he testify to the NACC instead. Even now they are decrying this meeting as a junket.

He could still perform his party trick of saying that expected growth is 15% this year

  3. While he is asking how about popping down to lumpiini and asking the great peoples medium to come down the station for a chat on those pesky murder charges.

Indeed. Enough of this sending the lawyer favouritism. Get Yingluck to follow the rules and present her case to the NACC

  4. It matters not a hoot what someone from the red shirt town of Chiang Mai thinks. Home to the Shinawatra family who believe they are beyond the law.

What matters are the facts, the evidence and the ultimate outcome in a court of law.

Ad hominem attacks -- attacking the person rather than what they say -- are cheap shots and short-sighted thinking. You did not address a single issue the article raised, but tromped along to the goose stepping march of a fascist drum, while simultaneously claiming facts, evidence and law are what counts. Whose facts? Whose evidence? Whose outcome? Ask the Chinese how facts, evidence and outcomes are decided. Ask Ayotollah Khomeini.....

You have selective memory, on purpose. You arguments, more like cheer-leading chants, do not hold water.

Ad hominem attacks - is that Latin for the attacks on the gay march by rak Chiang mai 51?

The dean didn't say anything convincing to me and I didn't say anything derogatory about him.

Trumped up goosestepping march of a fascist blah blah blah. To me that resonates of the manner in which PTP behaved in the house in the final quarter of 2013

Whether you like it or not, it is the facts and evidence that matter whether dealing with Yingluck, Suthep, Ko Tee or Somchai the coconut rustler

  5. Power corrupts, Absolute power corrupts absolutely, so there need to be checks and balances

Those who seek absolute power will complain when it acts against their wishes and use the same against their opponents

Nothing wrong with genuinely independant checks and balances....................

What rulings have been made that you disagree with and on what grounds?

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Where do I start, my disagreements and "grounds for" have been posted on various threads on here - you can chase after them if you wish. Try the first ruling on the alleged unconstitutional act of amending the constitution when the first attempt was made back in 2012, the cc ruling on whether complaints wrt article 68 should be made by the AG or not, the ruling on the amendment to the section regarding the election of senators, the AEC conviction of Thaksin, the many trumped up charges of members of the UDD over 2010, the refusal of bail for same, the double standards applied by the courts, the ruling over dissolution of the dems being dropped due to a technicality.............etc.

The AEC is history now - but it just collected evidence and passed it to the appropriate court.

Changes to the constitution seemed to me to be using the precedent of referendum from the junta.

Referrals via the AG is purely a procedural issue. If there's a case and evidence then so be it. How many decisions against PTP came through this route?

The UDD charges have taken too long for sure - but the leaders that were in on terrorist charges have been freed.

The charges against the Dems- was this the manner of collecting funding?

That's what she's avoiding, any kind of Whistler. Still it being Songkran I'm sure they'll be many a suthep follower wetting their whistle.

Need to work a bit on your sense of humour.

Spent too long on the dark side

  7. It's the annual lick arse brigade going to pay their visit, this guy has no business being anywhere near power

Well done to Yingluck for not bothering to go kowtow to someone who should be utterly irrelevant in politics at this stage of his life

Why do people keep repeating she wasn't elected in this thread as well?

If indeed it is as you say, how do you reconcile that with the brown nosed lackeys that follow Thaksin round the globe to feast on the droppings?

  8. Not to mention the horrendous traffic and polution

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Traffic control and pollution mitigation are populist ideasbecause its is the population as a whole that benfits from such policies. I would guess that Suthep would eliminate traffic control devices and allow unconstrained pollution in Thailand in eliminating populist policies from Thai society.

    On what basis?

The problem is the ultimate outcome does not always have any relationship to the facts or evidence but is merely interpretation on a whim

I don't know too many smart football managers who complain about the ref before the game has kicked off.

The CC is still very new and one should bear in mind that it has often ruled in favour of PTP

  11. Hmmm...Her not going to see Prem for Merit making at Songkran is turning her back on something much bigger. Who does she think she is?

I think her position has gone to her head wai2.gif

She was the legally elected PM of Thailand who was sabotaged by the machinations of the former ruling oligarchy. She has sent a not so subtle message that she will not be bullied by the military and that she owes nothing to the unelected Prem, who was previously the military dictator of Thailand. If you wish her to embrace a group who have no respect for civilian governments, that is your totalitarian aligned opinion. Does your PM run over to the Chief Privy Councillor's home at new year's to bow before him and show deference? Why then would you expect the PM of Thailand to do so?

Words to that effect would be more credible than the amateur psychological ramblings of a red leaning farang.

If she had any gumption they would be forthcoming and they would earn respect.

Her reaction to the Ko Tee issue suggests there is none

  12. I'm watching hard talk on the BBC and one of the complaints about the world cup in Brazil was an expenditure of 12 billion dollars and some of it disappearing into corruption.

No you are wrong Melyn. Dont you know that Thaksin and the PT Politicians are the only Corrupt people on this planet. . . . isnt that right DJJamie. TV Gerry and the rest of the "Sun shines out of Suthep's a@#$e" mob? wai.gif

If you think I am a fan of Suthep, then you're not joining the dots correctly.

Anyone involved in corruption should be harshly dealt with without exception. Swiftly too.

I'd remove the statute of limitations on it too so that people such as Thaksin have nowhere to hide. If that also ensnares Suthep then bring it on.

Remember who supported the amnesty bill as well as those who opposed it!!!

  13. So , she didn't bother to turn up....... whats new whistling.gif

Why would you expect someone to socialize with people who are opposed to her as PM?

Her problem at the moment is that not only does she isolate herself in the north but talks only to people of a certain political persuasion.

    How will she ever learn?

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

The Prem event was not an educational seminar. It was a staged PR event to show who controls what in Thailand.

In Thailand, it's all about the show and sending signals of who is where in the social hierarchy.

THe PM no longer wishes to play the game of the military and its champion who do not believe that the military should ever be accountable to the people. That sir is the reality.

What has the PTP government ever controlled?

Its a free for all, a bun fight, a chimpanzees' tea party, a gong show and a debacle all wrapped up in a banana leaf

So they knew what was the cost of the rice sheme failure.facepalm.gifrolleyes.gif

That would be like running a business by knowing only what you spend.

The P&L and balance sheet are still needed to complete the picture
