  1. I am looking for a beach bungalow between Trat and Hat Lek. I am looking for one that is right on the beach. The more quiet and secluded the better. Does not have to have a restaurant or bar, but a restaurant would be a plus. I will be driving my own car so transportation is not a problem. My budget is 3,000 – 4,000 baht per night, but cheaper is better. All I want to do is sit in a chair on the beach, under an umbrella or tree, drink a few beers, and watch my boys play in the sand. A quiet family vacation. Anyone know of such a place? Mostly looking for a place on the mainland and not on Koh Chang, but willing to consider Koh Chang if the bungalow is very good. Thanks!

  2. Yes Totster! Please post the menu. I live about an hour away. I think it would be great to drive up, stay a day in Mukdahan and rent a room there. I would need two rooms. How many rooms are available? Sounds like a place I need to look in to. Any more info. would be great.

  3. Clausewitz,

What you want to do is very easy . You need the blue book for your car . You also need a couple of photocopies of the first page of your blue book . It is relly nice to have your own car/transportaion to go where you want, when you want. Check out the thread "driving to Kampot" on page 2 of this forum. They give a nice detailed decription on how to do it, easy.

    dmax,

I have never had a problem with my car. Use common sense where you park your car, and use a steering wheel lock (anti theft device). Having a car there is definitely the way to go IMHO.

The road going from Hat Lek to Sihanoukville is much better now and a good drive. Be careful driving though. There is much more driving hazards, cows children, chikens, crazy Cambodian drivers all in the road. Driver a little slower than you do in thailand, and drive defensively, you should be fine.

    Good Luck!

  4. If they are legally married I would think her first step would be to contact his embassy. They should be able to tell her what rights she does, or does not have. At the very least they could point her in the right direction. Good luck.

  5. This is common here and has happened to me as well. "Gently stepping on my brakes" may work in other countries, including where I come from, but does not work here. I believe tailgating is very dangerous. When someone does it to me, I turn on my turn signal, move as far to the left as I can and encourage them to pass me. If there is another lane, I will change lanes and let them pass. When I drive I watch out for this and get out of their way. You can't change them, all you can do is drive as defensively as you can. Don't get mad, just let them go by you safely.

    Good luck and be safe.

  6. Yes, I have. I tried a dentist who the Thai's highly recommended. Don't remember his name (I don't remember most Thai names). He has both a private practise an works out of the hospital. Won't go see him again. The Dentists at the Aek Udon hospital are great, good facilities and equiptment, and speak good English. Highly recommend them.

  7. I would go to Aek Udon. Services there are far superior to that in Sakon Nakhon. I go there for all my medical needs including dental.

  8. I got a Double entry tourist visa. Stayed for 58 days then returned to the U.S. A week later I returned to Thailand on the same tourist visa (the second entry for my double entry). I stayed 60 days + 30 day extension. The extension runs out in 7 days. What are my options to stay two more weeks? Can I go to Nong Khai and cross the boarder for a 15 day visa or did I already use up the 90 days out of 180 rule. Would I then have to go up to Vientiane Laos and get a tourist visa? I have never been to Vientiane Laos. If I have to go that route is it easy to get a tourist visa there?

  9. I am planing a trip to Cambodia and would like to go to Sihanoukville as I have never been there, or anywhere else in Cambodia. Are there any Gay venues there. I do not believe or expect this to be anywhere close to Thailand for the Gay scene, but are there any? Can anyone tell me about the gay scene in Sihanoukville, or even Cambodia in general. If not Sihanoukville is there another town or city?

  10. For me it was location and safety. I can see if you live in Bangkok or Pattaya, a motocy is just fine, Dangerous but fine. I live in rural Isaan. I lived here for one year with only a motorcy before I bought a car. When I bought my car, it was a godsend. Life got alot easier and more enjoyable. Now I have a Fortuner. I can tell you, I feel safer with more metal around me then flapping in the breeze on a little motorcy. Especially with all the crazy kids flying around that don't know how to drive or have a death wish. I still have two motorcy's, but ony go very short distances on back roads. Motorcy + Thailand = DEATH :o

    BE SAFE!

  11. I am sure there are many recall sometime back on a visit there the wife took her cousin to one down town, was very please with service, best of luck and REMIND the little fellow not to FORGET the TOOTH FAIRY. Don't want to upset mother nature. :D:D:D
