  1. I get eaten alive too. I get a mozzie killer spray. It comes in a blue can, not sure of the name, but any bug spray will due. I spray the parameter of my house. Spray the bushes, trees, and any shade areas. The mozzies hide in bushes and shade areas during the day. I also spray bushes and things in my neighbors yard close to my fence/wall as well. I do this for five consecutive days. This will kill off most of the little biters. They don't fly too far from were they nest. After that, spray every two or three days. When I do this I no problems with them. good luck. :o

  2. But lets play with him just for a few days , he deserves it.

Well said! For people, to be this rude, especially to a Thai woman and CHILD. This person deserves this. If I was in Bangkok, I would be there for the entertainment.

A few hours to go. Can't wait to see what happens. I hope there are pictures.

Good luck guys, I'm with you in spirit. :o

  3. This thread has really made me mad! I live up in Isaan and I am not there to see this. :o Otherwise, I would be there. Maybe one person should sit in "his" seat and have about 5 T.V. members que up behind the seat waiting for it. Good luck and let us know how it goes in the morning. :D

  4. The dollar was getting stronger. Then oil hit 120 and then 130. High oil prices with a weak dollar and more concerns about the U.S. economy, the dollar is on it's way back down. I would like to see the dollar back up 42 as well, but would be pleased just to see it hit 35. :o

  5. I had the same problem with some soi dogs on my street. I bought some doggy treats/chews (very cheap). I would then ride by, and when the dogs came out, I tossed them a doggy treat/chew (doggy baht as I called it). After about a week they looked at me as a friend. They no longer bark or chase me, other than wanting a treat. I still do tip the dogs for not chasing or barking at me. The baht I spend on doggy baht or treats is well worth it, as nobody gets mad at the farang (including the dogs) and no potential legal problems. :o

  6. I don't know about the soil type, not sure how to test. The wire I used was PVC 750v 70c 10mm. The same day the wire was installed, I painted the entire length of the wire on the outside of my house, and then spray painted ( 3 times/coates) the electrical connection. The wire is very close to where I sit on my front poarch. I look at it about everyday. It looks (the wire and rod top) to be in great shape. I simply have no idea how long the rod, the section in the soil, the part I can not inspect, is expected to last.

Thanks xyborg, that is good to hear that in your experience, the rods does seem to last for some time. :o

  7. Back in Dec. 5, 2006 I had my house rewired, due to the fact that NONE of the circuits were grounded/earthed. Now my house is electricaly safe (or safer)with the proper specs and properly grounded/earthed circuits. At this point, I again would like to thank Crossy, Elkangorito, Lopburi3, and others for there help. Before my house was a death trap waiting to happen, but thanks to their help/advise and others, my house is safe, thanks guys.

I installed a 1.5cm x 2.5meter electrical grade copper earthing/grounding rod. It has now been over a year since this was installed. I also, after the rod was installed and the electrical connection was made, spray painted the connection to prevent corrosion/oxidation of the contacts. I perform regular tests of the GFI/ELCB (Safe-T-Cut set at 5ma) and there is no problem. Since it has been over a year, how long does the earthing/grounding rod last? Just to make it clear, I am NOT having any problems, but I would like to keep it that way. I just have no idea how long the earthing rod is suppose to last. My main concern is safety over cost. The rod was so cheap (compaired to my life) that if there is any reason to replace it, I would. Without pulling the rod out, to see it's condition, is there any way to tell what it's condition is? Is ther any reason to think the copper earthing/grounding rod is decomposing in the soil? Anyone out there have any idea as to the life of a copper Earthing/grounding rod?

    Thanks again to all!

  8. I am having the same problem for my 8yo. I am away on business right now, but in two weeks went I return I will try this place:

    132/22 MOO 17 KANCHANAPISAKE RD.BANGRAMART, TALINGCHAN Bangkok 10170 - www.asiabike.com

I want to get him a very good quality BMX style bike. There was one other place in Bangkok that I found that has good quality bikes but I don't have the info with me. I will post it tomarrow. They are not cheap. The Haro Bicycles (American Co. that has been around a long time) are $200.00-$500.00 USD depending on the model. But kids are worth it.

  9. I have a 2006 Toyota Fortuner and want to replace the speakers and add an amp to my stereo. Does anyone know what size speakers are in the Fortuner? I am not in Thailand at the moment, so I can not just go out and look. I am comsidering buying the speakers and carring them into Thailand. I live up around Udon Thani and have looked for a place that sells and installs higher end stereo equiptment but have not found any. If any one knows of a place around Udon Thani ( or the surrounding area, willing to drive) please let me know.

  10. There is a HomePro, and they just opened a Homemart, about 1/4 kilometer from Lotus, on the same side of the street. HomePro, if you are on Highway 22 (same road Lotus is on) coming from the airport, when you get into town the road makes a sharp right hand turn. This is where you would make a "U" turn if you where going back to Lotus. After you make the right hand turn go start into town. Follow that road past the bus station untill it dead ends. You can only turn right or left, turn right. Homepro is on that road, about 1 or 2 kilometers on your right.

Shrek, can you tell me where that European bar is?

Pianoman, Where is the Thai-French Beef company?

It is a Quiet town and not much in nightlife. But life is slow there and I like that. When I need night life, It's a quick flight to Bangkok or a couple hour drive to Udon Thani, and I'm good for awhile. For a slower pace, it's a nice town.

Watch out for the DOG MEAT! :o

  11. I am looking for a good quality BMX Bicycle for my 8yo. Does any one know of a bike shop in Udon Thani that sales good quality BMX Bicycles. I am not talking about those bike shops that sale the cheap Thai or Chinese bikes. I am looking for brand names like Haro, DK, Felt, fit, or Kink. Has anyone seen such bicycles in Udon Thani?

  12. I am looking for the adapter for the "Schuko" plug. I have been to every electrical shop where I live, and no one has them. I even printed a picture of the adapter from Crossy's site and took it with me to show them. No joy. I rewired my house as it was an accident waiting to happen. There were no earthed/grounded circuits. My microwave has one of the "Schuko" plugs. I hate these things :D. I am about ready to cut it off and put on a 3 prong plug. But sometimes, people bring over rice cookers and other things that have these plugs on them, and I want the adapters for these situations too. Why the H_ll does Thailand use these? :o:D

I live in Isaan, right now, I am out of Thailand. When I return I will be flying into Bangkok (of coarse). I am willing to travel ANYWHERE in Thailand to get the adapters. If anyone knows of a place to get these, Please let me know. I am probably not the only one who is having trouble locating them.

    Thanks, Be Safe!

  13. Qualthrough,

Yes, even in economy class, each seat has their own screen. You get to choose the movie you watch. When you want to watch it and as many time you want to watch it or any of the other movies. Music and games the entertainment system is outstanding.
