  1. Of course. I took out 1000 baht and had them update my bankbook before getting the bank letter.
  2. Did my extension of stay in Nonthaburi last week. Requested the 12 month printout (took 3 work days) from Bangkok Bank in Silom. Got the bank letter using the 800k+ method. Easy. I have to tip my cap to Nonthaburi Immigration, the last couple of years I am in and out of there quickly.
  3. I use Viber to call my friends & family in the USA, $1.99/mo. I use WhatsApp to call friends in other countries. Can call +1 800 numbers using Viber, which is important to me.
  4. A few years ago I flew Turkish Airlines Business Class round trip and was surprised how nice it was, especially the lounge. The lounge was the best that I have experienced.Fantastic! I have also flown with Cathay Pacific Business Class a couple of times before, but I prefer Turkish Airlines. Haven't any experience with the others that are recommended.
  5. After watching some YouTube videos on Transcendental Meditation, it has piqued my interest. Can anyone recommend a certified teacher in the Bangkok area where I can learn this practice?
  6. I always tip Grab or any delivery driver 20 baht. I was using my credit card for Grab taxis and food, but after noticing that the taxi drivers were padding the bill, I'm back to paying with cash.
  7. WW2 destroyed the British empire. Now they are a vassal state of the U.S., just like the rest of Europe is.
  8. I miss the Leffe Blonde on tap at O'Malley's in Silom. Absolutely delicious!
  9. "Foreign credit cards carry higher merchant and interchange fees than native Thai bank cards..." This is what they told me when I inquired at the Honda shop. But as JimHuaHin wrote, he had no problem using his foreign cc at Honda. I'm guessing that the ability to use it varies from shop to shop.
  10. I don't understand? The card was in my name.
  11. My wife had taken her new car for a six month checkup at the local Honda dealership where she bought the car. When I went to pay the bill with my credit card they told me that they don't accept foreign credit cards. All the years that I have lived here this has never happened to me. Sure, many places don't accept Amex but always Visa or MC. Is this just a Honda thing or do the other car dealerships have the same policy regarding payment?
  12. I've been using Citi Bank for over ten years without any problems. About once a year I make a transfer to my Bangkok Bank account. I send it in $US and Bangkok Bank converts it at the TT Buying Rate, which changes a couple of times during the day. Cost is $35 to Citi and 500THB to Bangkok Bank Might be cheaper using other methods but it's hassle free for me.
  13. How many treatments of Botox will it take to bring back my youthful appearance?
  14. NaAphcon-A works for me. Available at almost any pharmacy. Good price
