Amazing! Just two replies to this positive story, both derogatory.

Yet we see ten to 100 times as many replies to most of the bad stories that appear on Thai Visa.

It really says a lot about the membership.

The photo shows some interesting issues. There appears to be a section of the column void of concrete and its not a typical compression failure. There is also very visible evidence of over hydration by the numerous cavities left after curing. The reo has no signs of rust but the concrete has also not bonded to it as you would expect.

The green and pink colour tinge on the surface and beyond which I assume is not the lighting as it is patchy.

Looks to me like a failure caused by a casting void due to over hydration, possibly at the start of a new batch delivery, whereby the load was only supported by the reinforcing until a lateral force, probably thermal movement, resulted in the axial displacement.

In other words, a crap batch of over watered concrete.

I don't understand why all the concern. Obviously it was built to Thai standards, so why is anyone surprised??

I will never return to the LOS (Land of Scams). Every once in a while, for amusement, I read a couple of news articles. And, it is always a reminder of why I left and why I never want to visit Thailand again. I wouldn't waste my money.

This gentleman spent a part of his education in Australia at officer training, this is one reason why he speaks reasonable English. I am sure he has an understanding of human rights as it is perceived by other countries. His personal opinions would be interesting to hear.

I think he would be great as a stand up comedian as he can deliver any line with a straight face.

Sorry to disappoint you but " gentleman" is not a title which can be purchased in England, rather it is a soubriquet earned by adherence to certain basic standards of behaviour, and is unconnected with someones financial worth or perceived rank.

JAG, I agree with your definition of Gentleman above. However, it is also based on personal perception. So, while one person may perceive an individual to be a gentleman, that does not mean that all people will perceive him as such. So, in your opinion, this mouthpiece for the junta is a gentleman. You are very welcome to your opinion. I respect your right to your opinion. However, I have a different opinion.

As for the "position" of Muppet Puppet, anyone who has a hankering for the position is welcome to it. I'm sure that no one will raise objections.

Yes, it reflects poorly on an incompetent medical community. In the 5 1/2 years I lived in Thailand, the only doctors I found who knew their arse from their elbow were the ones who had studied in the West. The rest of them don't even know how to diagnose. While they may be good a delivering babies, as long as there are no complications, I would not trust any of the as far as I can throw an elephant. Plus, one never knows whether they really went to college or daddy bought the certificate for them. And, from what I hear, the colleges care a lot more about who the kids learn to know than what they learn. Sad. Pathetic, really.

I've done 3 Retirement extensions in Samui. Never got charged more than the 1900. Last August I tried to give them an extra 100B because they were so nice and efficient. They wouldn't take. I asked if they had a "tip" box and they said, "no have".
