  1. A positive note is that lots and lots of normal Thai's own guns meaning that Thai citizens are not a soft target for ISIS militants as people in Europe are [ except Swiss ] and the UK . Imagine if ISIS militants tried to rape women in Texas !.... Bang!....brains splattered all the way back to the middle east.

Maybe, maybe not. Based on past performance here, people might just stand around and watch. Been known to happen. coffee1.gif

And, just because the PM does not have any information, does not mean they did not cross the border. as another poster mentioned, it seems that all they might need is a small brown envelope. coffee1.gif

  2. Surely for Thai public consumption, promoting the idea that the powers that be in Thailand have reach beyond their borders (in other words, fooling the slaves into thinking their masters have any real power).

I doubt he/they really believe they can achieve anything beyond passing some motion that if she ever goes to The Land Of Corruption they'd get her then.

Again, I say the British government needs to stand up for its citizens and warn them before going to that backwards and morally bankrupt country. This is salt in the wound for any British family who suffered when Thailand killed their family members.

What more proof do people need that Thailand does not respect its guests and needs boycotting?

Nearly all guests in Thailand have only positive things to think about the place until the Thais damage their own reputation by abusing people they should be taking care of. That is the bottom line: Thais have damaged their reputation and they deserve nothing less than to be openly held responsible and not be allowed to abuse the citizens of other countries.

    Thailand, shame on you.

British government, shame on you even more.

You would think that this family have suffered enough and therefore earned the right to speak openly and voice their opinion in their own country wouldn't you?

They can and she did. All possible because she is in England, not Thailand. She has nothing to fear.

  3. If this Guzman dude were properly restrained, there would be no danger of him escaping. There are ways if one wishes to use them. coffee1.gif

Yes, but those type of restraints usually involve a noose and a scaffold.

While your idea would work, permanently, I was thinking more along the lines of neck, waist, leg shackles with chains. The picture shows just an ordinary pair of handcuffs. Almost an invitation to break free, IMO. What are they thinking? crazy.gifcoffee1.gif

  4. "Despite their best efforts, doctors were unable to save him, citing a heavy loss of blood."

So he died because of loss of blood, not because his skull was crushed and his brain smashed because he was not wearing a helmet. Let alone a "proper" helmet.

How many people have to die of head injuries because they did not wear a proper helmet, before Thailand wakes up?

I would like to see large billboards showing the gruesome pictures of dead motorbike drivers who died because they did not wear a helmet, with a caption something like, "This man did not think he needed to wear a helmet. Do you think like him?." coffee1.gif

  5. OMG

Just had a look at his facebook page and he spoke to his mom on the 30th Dec assuring her he would keep safe as she was worried about him. This is tragic. RIP and my thoughts are now with the families.

His dream vacation in Thailand has come to an end, now whether that be from an overdose or something else there is not enough info as yet. The families deserve a detailed and transparent investigation. I hope they get it this time. This is one too many now and even if it turns out to be through a drugs overdose its still outrageous that these drugs are so openly sold in KT despite the promised crackdowns.

Buy my drugs and die its up to you, not my fault............as long as my tourist dollars keep flowing in we dont give a s#it

Unfortunately, because it happened on Koh Tao, we will probably never know the truth. The possibility of a cover-up and/or bungled police work is way too high. So sad. coffee1.gif

  6. Five persons were killed and a dozen injured when a Thonburi-Langsuan passenger train crashed into a running truck at a railway crossing in Phetchaburi province.

So I take it that the pick up truck was waiting for the railway crossing lights, and the train went off the rails and crashed into the truck. Right?

Congratulations on your inability to read English. The article clearly, for some of us, states that the truck driver ignored the flashing red light and drove his truck across the tracks as the train was coming.

Obviously, the truck driver was just another arrogant, stupid person who thought he could out run a train. Too bad the cattle had to die.

  7. I believed that I would win Powerball OZ 70 million Lotto last night, but didn't , what you believe will happen and what does actually happen is totally entirely different , to effectively manage any project requires dedication , patience and a will to achieve , I rest my case.....................................coffee1.gif .

Well said! A law means nothing. It is the 24/7/365 enforcement of the law that is all important. Every day that ANY law is not vigorously enforced is a day when "happiness to the people" decreases. coffee1.gif

  8. From the institutions monitoring this, the conclusion is that North Korea has set off a low yield fission blast as there were no detection of any evidence that this was a hydrogen blast.Normal BS from North Korea. It is estimated that they have less then 3 devises that they could arm for an atomic bomb. The UK alone has over 9,000 such devices including bombs and artillery shells, and missiles. Some of their missiles can also send out 200 more smaller atomic blasts.

Too bad no one has what it takes to test fire one of these bad boys over N.K. coffee1.gif

  9. New teacher huh! Most mornings tells about activities and tests and how to be a good student. Some is about punishment as well. Then of course you have the school song and the kings song and soon maybe you will have Mr. P's song hehee... I also think their is some review of the values required to learn by Mr. P.

Not new, but I don't speak Thai like a native and never bothered to ask anyone. What you described is pretty much what I always assumed. Just seems a little redundant.

Of course it is redundant. That is how Thais learn. You must be new if you think that "redundant" is not normal. It's called learning the rote way. Dumb, but it's as smart as the "No fail" concept. coffee1.gif

  10. Only 5 years for bank robbery probably reduced by time already served? He got lucky.

And hey, he should look at the bright side. Perhaps while he has to eat prison food and exercise every day, he will lose some of that fat and get healthy. Would greatly improve his chances of saving himself from a heart attack or stroke. coffee1.gif

  11. It's on one level comedy .

On another a deceptive attempt at appearances .

When someone points out corruption like in the ""Park "" case ...they get dragged over coals.

These guys are like rapists saying they make sure their victims are all modestly dressed.

    Therefore it's ok.

It's a crime holding power by gun.

Arresting people for liking a face book post, or Boy Scout salute .

On what moral planet is that not corruption?

    Denying opinions

    Freedoms to protest

    Unless its your brand.

This sewage they churn out begs sanctions .

I hope they hit em hard soon

They probably will, but only if they are "of the other color". After all, one must be "politically correct", Thai style. coffee1.gif

  12. Stay at home.

To be serious: the good here is that you are warned (although on a bit short notice).

Better than the surprises by some super VIP on a field trip to the province.

Provincial airport closed for hours, airspace closed, long detours necessary.

    Happened twice to me.

And even the airlines only get a short notice.

Stay at home: really think twice whether you need to fly on these days.

Or choose a different airport/airline. coffee1.gif Options are available. Consider Swampy.

  13. And they want to build a high speed rail system, that will be one train i will never ride and take my chances on the highway, wai2.gif

I think they would have to build separate track. They could not run high speed on freight lines. wink.png

It seems they can't run freight on freight lines

Ah yes. Welcome to Thailand. Home of narrow gauge rails and one set of rails. Too bad the current government isn't going to replace ALL of the narrow gauge rails with standard gauge and install a second set of rails country wide.coffee1.gif
