Well done Srikanyal, anyone who dose CPR for 30 mins is a hero , as in every country nurses are the back bone of the medical profession and without their dedication, hospitals , clinics etc would close , another Florence Nightingale story............................................
Amen to that! I hope that the patient has enough money left over after hospital expenses so that he can give a "Thank You" gift to that wonderful nurse and her family. Their sacrifice for this man deserves to be rewarded, and not just with a plaque.

........another responsible tour guide.....
So true! If every tour operator were charged 100,000 baht, due to negligence, for each and every fatality and/or injury that happens during a tour, they would become much more vigilant. But, TIT, where speeding and reckless driving is usually just a slap on the wrist and smoking in some public places will get you a 2000 baht fine. Only in Thailand.

Unless of course, you are an untouchable.
"Traffic police have been ordered to memorize the license plates and faces of their superiors after Bangkok's police chief complained yesterday that he was asked to take a breathalyzer test despite his insistence that he was not intoxicated."
“Eventually, I had to tell them who I was and get out of my car and criticize them,” he told reporters yesterday.
In America, all the "superior" would have had to do was flash his/her badge/ID. So simple. These people seem to have to make it complicated.

I would find these figures impressive if they were for one day only, not eight. Or, if they were for one province, not the entire country As it is, it is just a small drop in a very large bucket, it will take a lot more than these figures to impress me. And they will have to continue it for another 355 days. THEN, I will be impressed.

Prem urges news journalists to respect professional ethics
It's one thing to respect professional ethics and quite another to practice them.
And yes, I did not read the article. My bad.

" The reaction of the families to the verdict, welcoming the conviction and seeking to draw a line under the tragedy, is understandable. "
To me, this is one of the most puzzling aspects of the case as the trial played out. I just don't see HOW these families (bless'em) have seemed to be SO acceptable given all the sad facts, manipulation of evidence, lies, etc. that went along with this thing. I would think they would STILL be screaming bloody murder.
But they are not . . . ???
If they were this thing would take on whole new life and might be big headlines for a long time.
Maybe they got a large brown envelope too.

Govt safety campaign held from Dec 29 - Jan 4
...and after Jan 4 you can all take it easy and not worry about safety.
Precisely! As of 4 January, complete lawlessness will return to Thai roads. All Thai police will return to their daily naps and all scams will again be in place for business as usual.

"Thai prosecutors and police insist their evidence against the men was rock solid, including DNA found on Witheridge’s body."
Although I have no way of knowing for sure, I would suspect that, if the truth were told, the only "rock solid" thing would be the size of brown envelopes that have managed to change hands.

This would be OK if they had a good system of public transport. The lack of metered taxis here is a real pain.
There is no excuse for driving drunk. Plan ahead. Designate a driver or control yourself.

Let me guess. It turned one side down too.
Gotta love the Tinglesh!

This country is going down so many wrong roads. Freedoms are being taken away almost on a daily basis.
I'm glad, after 6 years, I'm heading back home very soon.
DITTO!

I've been "close" to an incident like this. It would help to know what time this happened. If it was night time, i'd put money on the Thai vessel having no navigation aids, and the captain was probably enjoying a few jars.
The super yacht would have had a manned bridge, and radar i guess. Paying for compensation would be normal practise, and a nice gesture from the captain, as this would be the Thai subsistence method.
Daytime, apparently there is no doubt the yacht was at fault.
Was it unser sail in which case it is unlikely to be at fault as others give way to sail
The other boat WAS AT ANCHOR. Don't you read before you post?

A very touching story. Thank you for reporting this. Not all Thais are corrupt, etc. It is great to hear about Thais who are kind and helpful. Happy holidays to all.

A pointless exercise to serve what purpose?
Time for junta-head to make a phone call.
Here's what the military are doing about the situation:
After reading the article, it looks like the military and the mine operators are cut from the same piece of cloth.

Maybe inferior concrete construction had something to do with it??

Hmmm. I wonder if these are former Thaksin folks. 20 years does seem like a long time.

Well. so far, I have not seen ANY candidate that I like. I don't trust Hillary as far as I can throw a grand piano. IMO she is a liar and a cheat and an Iranian lover. But then, IMO Kennedy was the last great POTUS and look what happened to him. Perhaps it is time to complete my bucket list.

Just the norm for ''Thailand''.. shocking driving standards and ignorance...
And oblivious.

23 km for 40 baht isn't that cheap. Riding a motorbike costs half of that.
Sure but not everyone wants to ride a motorbike. I just hope that this will lessen the traffic problems. Though I don't have much problems when I use the bike. The car that is a different story.
Plus, you don't have to put up with idiot drivers. That's got to be worth something.

So where is the video?? For some strange reason, it doesn't seem to load today. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Here on Koh Samui, the new Makro in Lamai has, last time I was there, 3 - frozen packages of Turkey meat. Not the whole bird, but large packages. If I had a large enough freezer, I would purchase one just to check it out. Being an American, I miss my Thanksgiving dinner. Hopefully I can find a local restaurant that is serving Turkey for Christmas. Happy Holidays to all!

I Love it!
"I'm sorry I did this to you, but you got to get used to it," Trump said on "Fox News Sunday."
I doubt very much that Trump is sorry. And, I doubt very much that the majority of voters are sorry. I hope that this 2016 election totally up-ends the "establishment" in both parties and finally, after many years, the president is elected by the people and for the people, not by the 10%, for the 10%..

When I attended burglary school, they taught us that you always check to see if someone is home before trying to break into a house. They said it was even better to case out a house prior to breaking in, to avoid getting killed. Guess this guy never attended the course. Who knows what would have happened once he landed, with the house occupants already there. Do burglars get any dumber? Hard to drum up much sympathy.
Ho hum. Another poster who does not bother to comprehend the sentence before posting.
"The man appeared to have climbed into the chimney during the night while the owner was away and then became stuck, according to the Fresno County Sheriff's Office.

So, does this make sending a package from Thailand to USA by UPS or DHL cheaper than by Thai post?? Does anyone know?
