Swedish Girl Raped in Koh Samui

The tourist magnet of Koh Samui has been shaken up by a series of rapes and murders within the last couple of days. Among the victims is a 12 year-old girl from Sweden.

A 12 year-old Swedish girl on holiday with her family was reportedly raped Monday last week by one of the employees of the hotel that she and her family were staying at. The suspect worked in the hotel’s restaurant, and he has now been arrested by the Thai police.

The incident happened close by the Swedish family’s hotel by Chaweng Beach on the island’s east coast. The local police are still investigating the case. The suspected rapist has denied that it was rape, claiming that the girl was willing and that he thought she was considerably older than 12.

The incident has shocked and disgusted the tourists in Koh Samui, writes the Danish daily BT, and the state of shock has only been increased by a series of similar events in the past days. On New Year’s Eve, a 21 year-old British woman on vacation was raped and murdered while on the phone with her mother, and on top of that, a 22 year-old Brazilian model, Talipa Rosini has now gone missing. It is not yet known what has happened to her.

My plan is eventually to start working teaching english, but could not be employed for possibly several months. So, it looks like my best bet is to apply for a tourist visa before I go, then get a work permit once I have a job. (Does that seem right?)

Alright, a bit silly and dougtful they exist in Thailand. But I can't find anything like Sun In or A tough of Sun, which lightens your hair just a little bit.

Make sure all your doors and windows are closed. Ours are only opened to go in and out of. I don't trust the wire fly screens in our flats. The mosquitos are a sneaky breed. I use a roll on repellent. Three stripes per limb is adequate. You could try the plug in repellers but they seem to be less effective if the a/c or a fan is operating. Don't scratch the bites. easier said than done I know. Don't wear any sort of fragrence in bed, try to wash it off I understand it attracts them. Maybe shower with plain water prior to retiring, I read somewhere that cheesy feet attract the little buggers.

I watched a program on BBc a while back where they investigated the cheesy feet theory, the guy went walking all day then came back to his room, took the sock off one foot and washed the foot well, and keft the sock on the other foot.

In the morning when he woke up the leg with the smelly sock still on was covered in mossie bites above the top of the sock, and the clean foot had none !

I doubt if any expats living in Phuket have had any injections either, for living there.

Five-year-old boy torn down by ten stray dogs

BANGKOK: -- A five-year-old boy was severely injured by some stray dogs which attacked him at a Bangkok flat Tuesday.

The boy suffered some 20 sever dog bites and was rushed to Nopparat Ratchathani Hospital.

The mother, Suprawee Boonthaweechai, 35, said she took her son to have lunch on the ground under a flat building in Ram-Indha area at 11 am.

She said while her boy was walking upstairs after the lunch, a black dog jumped on his back and bit him and nine more dogs joined the attack.

Suprawee said she was frightened and tried in vain to chase the dogs away and called for help. The dogs left after some men hit them, she said.
