  1. So is this game, set and match to Suthep? All of his demands have been met, after a short but desperate struggle by the government to resist, yet they capitulated every time. Yingluck will cease to be the acting PM imminently, possibly even before the day is out. The situation is very fluid and has been given a shot in the arm by the police sending 50 of the protesters to hospital with gunshot wounds.

The government has not agreed to anything yet. This is just the EC. Whom they can ignore just like they have other court orders/decisions. Right?

But it is kinda funny. Both the EC and the government have been insisting there's no way to postpone the elections. It will be interesting to see what happens now.

The point here is, that Thaksin probably has connections within the EC and bribed them: "I give you money, and you will delay elections and re-introduce my amnesty bill by the end of July, deal???"

  2. Truck drivers never look, they just do.

    RIP dear chap.

If you rear end someone it is ALWAYS your fault, NO exeptions

Always leave plenty of room for the unexpected

Sent from my GT-I9100 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

...and the prize for the most ill-informed post must go to this poster who clearly is in desperate need of a few driving lessons his/herself.

  3. Is it the time of year? This thread is just chocabloc full of nonsense....... As far as I can see it wasn't a 4wd, it was one of those holiday rental things that look like a Jeep.

Most of the posts seem to demonstrate 2 things how ignot PPP tant then poster is and how little they know about driving.

  4. The situation is clear..... After parliament is dissolved there must be an election within a certain period..... This will be won by Phue Thai.

Suthep is pushing the situation into a corner where the army (rightly or wrongly) will feel justified in stepping in.

The result will be an unelected despotic CABAL, which will come up with some grossly undemocratic constitution followed by an election followed by street demonstrations...........

One can't but get the impression that this chain of events was Anticipated by K. Suthep and Co. a long time ago....could there be collusion here?

  5. I remember seeing this post several years ago, a women who claimed to have been moving here with her husband, and starting a restaurant business and soon the husband ran off with a thai woman

I say this is a troll post

Either way, this is a troll thread. Their username is 'cheated' and they came here to start trouble and most of the comment are following their (whatever gender the OP is) game. Definitely a troll post. No woman who was cheated on will come here and post about it.

I'm somewhat underwhelmed by this poster's. comments .... especially the generalisation about women.

  6. " Arrested deveopment" - The majority of expats I meet seem to be emotionally incredibly immature and are in reality incapable of forming a balanced relationship with either sex. If it is friendship with other men it is actually just an excuse to drink themselves stupid and with women it tends to be a matter of domination.

  7. Idiots. NEVER get vaccinations.

    http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2004/05/12/vaccination-dangers.aspx

    http://vaccinedangers.com.au/

    http://educate-yourself.org/vcd/

And hundreds of articles more. My friends Thai wife had his son vaccinated and now has autism. Ditto on three others I know. I hear the excuse all the time 'Thai people do' and I shudder. Ignorance of Thai people from the scientific and biological understanding of their anatomy is simply outrageous. And when Governments team up with Big Pharma, the issue is compounded immensely. It is simply criminal and no recourse whatsoever.

This myth has been shown to be nonsense time and time again. Sad thing is that the above post is a perfect example of someone confusing association with cause as proof.

  8. I can't see also why anyone would base their argument on a set of postulates about one aspect of climate change over a 17 or 19 year period, taken in isolation, which completely ignores other events and processes currently taking place around the planet.

Surely taking one isolated set of observations cannot be regarded as proof in anyone's book especially of such a vast and point term process.

  9. How are you on quantum physics, relativity etc.? In fact we don't have to understand all of it as lay people. But we can look at the basics and the who's how's and where's of the critics.......and in the end they just don't add up.As lay people we often have to look at the nature of the source to get an idea of the likelihood of it's veracity (e.g. Daily Mail?)...or try the journal that publishes the research. Quality scientific journals are usually reluctant to publish research with flawed methodology etc.

Those who deny climate change don't have to be stupid....even clever people get it wrong and personality, stubbornness and even old age can prevent them from concurring in the face of increasing evidence......of course they often find opposing a theory can be quite lucrative; either through vested interests or personal career enhancement....e.g. David Ike.

  10. As a language English is remarkably democratic - no government has ever managed to interred with it's constant development. It is in short a language of the people - whoever they happen to be - there are NO RULES only conventions.

The fact is that English exists in various forms around the world none of which are particularly right or wrong. Anyone teaching English will know this. The object of teaching is in general to get people to communicate on a day to day basis. This is usually business of some kind, but it can be specialist or academic or even literary amongst others.

To judge a nation's progress on a perceived pronunciation of one letter seems facile in the extreme. I suppose next we'll have to tell the population of Eire how to pronounce "th"?.

If you are form a valid opinion on teaching English in Thailand , you not only need to know about teaching but also about the English language itself.

  11. No sir, real respect can only be earned

    Pot calling the kettle black?

This forum is littered with people insulting Thais.

Has it not occurred to the OP that respect is something you EARN and the attitude expressed by their respective spouses may be well deserved?

No, that is what is called 'Conditional Respect'

Real respect - and this is a challenge for every single one of us - is what we start with.

Example - You meet someone you have never met before - you start by respecting that person regardless of their race, age, gender, sexual orientation, the way they are dressed, their accent - you name it - get the preconceptions out of the way - and YOU have respect for this other person.

The argument that 'Respect is something you earn' is the gate by which we all exclude others from opportunity in life.

I'm sure we can all recall occasions when we have seen people treat others with disrespect on the very first time they met - we may if we are honest admit to having done so ourselves.

I'm sure too we can all recall occasions when we have witnessed someone see through the dross of assumption and treat a total stranger with respect - most of us have done that at least some time in our life - if we are honest we might admit how difficult it can be sometimes.

But we surely also understand what a different it makes.

  12. PS - I've had one Western fail out of 6 drives over 5 years that was 1 week before the 3 year warranty expired and it was replaced free.

I'm told the main reason for failure is due to people repeatedly removing the drive before it is ready to be disconnected. Windows often tells you it's safe to disconnect before it is really finished.
