The LA Consulate seems to be insisting that for my application for COE to be processed I must provide proof of purchase of both the flight and ASQ.  That seems to be a ridiculous demand.  If the Consulate follows the pattern they set in July, they won't release the September dates for repatriation flights until the last week of Aug.  Meanwhile it seems likely that all the ASQ rooms will already be taken!

Our desired departure dates are more constrained than most applicants.  We have to arrange for the delivery and loading of our shipping container just before our departure flight.  The shipping company wants 10 days notice to change our loading date.  Sheesh!  How many balls do I have to keep in the air simultaneously to get this done???

Just setting the bar impossibly high and thereby ensuring the absolute minimum actually make it back into Thailand. Shortage of ASQ is just another unnecessary obstacle. Same story with repatriation flights The hotel industry is on its knees and crying out for business and I am sure would jump through all the hoops required to be able to make some money again. Same with international airlines. The demand is there, just not the official nod. I, for one, would not book seats on any flight to Thailand until such time as there is an official gazetted notice published in Thailand to the effect that International commercial flights may once again off-load travelers in Thailand. Any such flights will not fly and you might end up out-of-pocket.Good luck and hope it works out well in the end.

doing what exactly ?  low TESTING = low whatever

well done Thailand, for the strong UV sunlight that kills virus on impact and gives free vitamin D ?

well done Thailand for the super humid air, that is bad for virus to spread ?

At the beginning of this pandemic story with the Northern Hemisphere in the middle of winter, "experts" were postulating that the virus needs cold, dry conditions to survive long enough to enter and effect hosts and that the warm climatic conditions in Thailand might be the reason why the infection rate there was so low. However, If one looks at what is happening , for example, in the US's so-called Sunshine states in high summer, then this theory fall apart.Unless,of course, they were not testing in these states to any great degree or the strain in the US was able to adapt to the increased temperatures while the strain in Thailand has not needed to change. .

The rapacious Americans are laughing in their labs and penthouse offices.

An effective, proven-to-work vaccine, when it becomes available, might already by obsolete by the time it comes to market due to the strains currently doing the rounds mutating as the flu tends to do. So, who is going to pay and accept anything launched onto the market knowing that it's very much a <deleted> shoot as to whether it will protect a person against Covid-19. Or is the thinking that there will be enough "suckers" buying and thus ensuring good ROI for the industry?

  4. Just under 9% of all cases. Would be interesting to see figures regarding recovered, hospitalized, needing ICU intervention and, sadly, deaths due to Covid-19 related infections in this sector of the population. This could clarify the motivation for calls for opening or keeping schools closed. Anyone on this forum able to supply a link to this info? Much appreciated.

  5.  My school in Thailand advised me about 2 weeks ago that the Labour Department notified them that they were not attending to WP3 applications at this time. Whether this has changed in the meantime, I don't know. I am still waiting for an update from them. So, if the OP does not have a valid work permit it might still be months before the embassy will be able to start his C of E application.

  6. Chainat and Leeds are spot on and just quoting what the law says.

as a person who performs duties or mission for the benefit of education, culture, art, sports or other activities as may be prescribed by the Royal Decree

That does not mean teachers, the words duties or mission are the key factor here. It is hard to say what it exactly means, but you must think in terms of participants for Olympic games etc. that can be exempt by Royal Decree. And only with a Royal Decree are they exempt.

They have an opinion based on their interpretation of the meaning behind the words used in sub-paragraph 6.

Do they have a ruling or other way of substantiating their opinion ?.If not.Once again only an opinion and not a fact.

The last part of the sentence states that other exclusions can be added to this sub-paragraph by means of a Royal Decree. The first part of the sentence has already been enacted into law .

  7. substantiation

Now this is a teacher. biggrin.png

    555.

I think I've already explained the situation. There is no law that overrides the Act that states that those here for the benefit of education (which is obviously any teacher here) are exempt from needing a Work Permit. But the Thai officials and ministries don't know/care/follow it, and demand them anyway. smile.png

Thanks Almera.Taking issue with the Thai officials and the Ministries about this is a fight for another day.But to enter the fray you had better be equiped with the right weapons thus my quest for information.

  8. Almera, not everything is written into law with its details of precedent as clearly as everyone would like. But I know I'm correct in my description. You have every right to disagree, but you will be wrong. Your mileage may vary.

Proof in writing is all that I asking for.Is anyone else able to supply same or point me in the right direction?

Having an opinion is the right of everyone but if you do not have verifyable information to substantiate your opinion then your opinion is open to be challanged.

I am not into this for the argument but am seeking the de facto rule as it stands now backed by the substantiation thereof.

  9. Section 4 (Sub-paragraph 6 ) stipulates that an Alien (Non-Thai

National ) engaged in the Education field is exempt from the requirement

of having to get a Work Permit to work legally in Thailand.

Anyone know if this law has been amended in any way since then or are there other laws that override this Executive decision ?

    Any information would be appreciated

Not applicable to the occupation of teacher in formal, in-formal or non-formal educational institutions in Thailand.

If this law is not applicable to the occupation of teacher which Act of Parliament or which Royal Decree or which Amendment has been passed into law to exclude teachers from this exemption?

Sorry if I appear stupid but I cannot find any reference to the exclusion of those employed as teachers in Thailand in The act.
