Jonathan Tam one of many Deputy Chief Medical Officers, plank of the week, according to some video I saw.

Leads me to wonder why do Doctors go into comparatively, normally unimportant and less well paid public service roles. Could it be that they are not very good Doctors. I mean the career path for a good Doctor is emergency room, surgery, high turnover places, followed by specialising, consulting advising etc  making heaps of money. Some less ambitious become GPs and still do very well and can be quite good at the patient interaction and management part of it. Where do the crappy, not very good Doctors go?

The clue is in your first sentence.

  2. There is a list system in place. That's for sure. Exactly how it works, I have no idea. But my school had to do whatever they did to get me on the list. I am on it but many other from my country are not, and it has nothing to do with where you teach as some teachers were at government schools, some at language schools and so on.

Tricky business I suppose as you can't really get pushy with your employer.

Some schools might even be dragging the story out so that teachers only start next semester.

Ok I will rephrase they can ease the symptoms with drugs or put you on a ventilator if you have a respiratory issue but that will not cure Covid19.

There isn’t even a cure for a common cold, hot drinks, paracetamol and let it ride its course.

Correct. Your body needs to combat the virus, and it is designed to do so. Any medication you are given is aimed at, at best, helping to alleviate the effects you feel while it is doing so.

    True that ^

Also a nice turning point in my life is when I realized regardless of what country, what govt etc etc none of it really

ever directly impacted my life so why bother with it? I know many will claim it is a head in the sand outlook but I think it

can also be described as self preservation.

I mean I watch the left & the right go at it literally tooth & nail in the USA & what

does it achieve? I know folks who spend their life watching politics on TV & yelling at the tube what did it change?

Same as it ever was...drags their health & outlook on life down the drain.

The old saying "tune out the noise" is like a vitamin these days????

And the more you develop the skill to "tune out the noise" the more contented your life becomes. Why, in any case spend your day complaining about that which you cannot change? It only makes you ill in the end.

Some believe that misery needs company and are only too willing to spend tons of effort on drawing people's attention to misery inducing events. The MSM are the kings of this.

Considering the sheer amount of obesity, heart disease, lung issues from smoking, alcohol issues, and other self inflicted issues that the general USA public have deliberately inflicted upon themselves - it could just be nature thinning the herd of stupidity ! !

    Good one!!!

Wishful thinking that a vaccine being rushed out will end this madness overnight, unless the conspiracy theorists are correct and it's all a con.

I think the virus is real and the reaction to it is overplayed, but I'm leaning more to the conspiracy theories at present.

It doesn't have to work, and probably might not be all that effective. All that is needed is that organizations like the WHO and BigPharama spin a tale that governments will fall for. Then everyone is good to go and governments can stop trying to manage something that they are not able to do successfully.

Depends on how many people you are prepared to see die horribly. Human life or money?

It's more a case of Human life or Human life. This will come out in the wash eventually when the sums are made.

How many are dying because of restrictions imposed that prevent them from accessing medical facilities? How many are dying because of being unable to buy food as they have lost their jobs? Etc, etc.

This list can go on and on.

Whatever decisions were taken,  there was, is and will be a price to be paid. And all schools of thought will be able to present facts to validate their position about actions and decisions taken.

What, maybe more importantly,  has taken an enormous blow is the credibility of international organizations like the WHO. While some leaders of developed countries will be marked men come next elections. What this will do to political stability and possibility of lives lost due to social unrest is also something to worry about. Currently the US is not looking good with deaths occurring as a result of various groupings taking to the streets to protest for a number of different reasons.
