  1. What would society be like without tabloids like the Sun to keep us informed on a daily basis of how people wish to lead their lives. And obviously they must cater to a readership that dotes on this type of article. Who cares what goes on in other people's lives. They have the right to live as they see fit as long as they don't infringe on the rights of others. Good luck to them.

Yes, I made a mistake with the 600,000THB/15 days. I thought I had seen that in the list, but after re-examining the list I have, I see the highest price is 220,000THB. Sorry for my mistake. I'm sure I saw a quote for 600,000THB somewhere in relation to this. Maybe I saw 60,000 and my old mind added an extra zero??? Didn't intend to spread disinformation.

Would you mind giving me the link to the website you found this list on?  Cannot read the website address at the bottom. Thanks

oompieoompieoompie, yes, better you take it as a no and go to bed now my friend. Relax a little! Calm down! And, after our previous conversation I did not expect that you understand why I chose to write Flying Saucage with a 'c' . This requires a minimum of something you might lack.

When I get back to Thailand perhaps you can explain it to me over a couple of beers. Always willing to learn new things, and would afford you the opportunity to enlighten me further on what I lack. B.T.W. I wanted to start a thread with the title: Any increase in Boom-Boom-Boom where you are staying but the thought of where that would lead to in the threads dissuaded me.

Astra Zeneca is charging $4 per dose during the pandemic. And that also covers R&D costs. So they're not going to be profiting much if anything from it. It doesn't seem unfair that they be exempted from liability.

Public Liability Cover is normally part of any short-term insurance policy contract that businesses take out to protect them from negative financial effects should they be litigated against in the course of normal business activities.  As this company has its head office in England, I assume that they would have such a policy. So, in the event of claims they would be covered by their insurance policy.

Why should the shareholders be protected at the expense of the population at large who might have no choice but to get the vaccine?

And they are going to make a ton of money for their shareholders if they get out of the gate a lot earlier than their competitors.

I personally think setting a precedent with this type of waiver is not the right way to go.

  7. Asymptomatic

I wonder if the CPR test can identify if the virus is active, but the infected person's immune system is not reacting to it (no symptoms) as opposed to the possibility that the test is picking up remnants of the virus post the person's immune system having successfully dealt with it.

This might clarify the high numbers of persons testing positive but not showing symptoms and/or not getting seriously ill.

Anyone got info on this or links to research done?

    1. It was not a simple yes/no question. You asked for a comment, so I gave a comment. Please see above. If you don't remember, I suggest you read your own post again.

    2. My requested comments about this you can read in my reply. If you don't understand my reply, I suggest you read it again and try to understand. But I don't have a problem if you don't read and don't understand. Not my problem.

    3. No, no need to live close to a temple, and I don't expect there is anything to hear beyond normal.

So, I take it your answer is no. Phew! At last.  By the way, what is "Saucage"? I googled it but came up blank.

Thailand is as good or as bad as most other well performing countries, let's say in Europe, or let's say like Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea....

What do you expect regarding boom-boom-boom with 5-10 additionaly deaths per day, in the whole country, as they have in Europe right now?

Do you really mean in Europe the crematories are overwhelmed with 5-10 additional deaths per day in a country, in countries with 50 to 80 million people like Italy, Germany, Poland, UK?

Covid-19, the grand theatre and drama in Thailand!

It was a simple question to which I expected a simple yes, no or C below. That's all.

    Your answer?

    A) Yes

    B) No

    C) Do not live near enough to a temple that does cremations to hear

  10. Virus" sapping " ageing Thailand? No evidence of that in daily Covid statistics, but it could be the real picture. Then again, the word choice reminds me of the oft used "spike or spiking" when Covid mortality daily stats. are presented of additional 100 or 200 deaths out of populations in the millions. Word choice and the emotional response that it is intended to create are all important I suppose.

But perhaps a way for stranded expats to come back, if anything at all.

That's probably what it will end up being about. Another obscure way of allowing some types of tourists in while keeping others out. Because that is all longstayers are at the end of the day in the eyes of the locals, tourists. And, if there are problems, enough wiggle room to get out without losing face by blaming foreigners for rescinding it when/if the need arises.

The risk will be very low because people who don't die in hospital aren't tested. Those dying in hospital with other problems won't be tested for covid19 either. The all important thing is to keep the infection numbers down.

Much better approach than that in certain other countries where doctors were instructed to mark patients dying of other causes as covid-19 related "if it was only suspected that they had the virus or had come into contact with somebody who had contracted the virus". But then again, if hospitals are being refunded a good bit of moola for "treating" Covid-19 patients, what could possibly go wrong with reporting?

For NNES, a TOEIC is needed, the translation of your Non- English Bachelor into Thai, or English and authenticated/verified.

Every labor department in Thailand seems to have its own laws and regulations, so please be prepared.

Correct. South Africa is not considered to be a English speaking country by Thailand anymore. Although it's constitution states that there are 11 official languages, English is very much the Lingua Franca. It is the primary medium of instruction in schools, in commerce, in the justice system, and government at all levels. However, this is not good enough for Thailand, hence the requirement that South African passport holders wanting to teach in Thailand need to demonstrate  their English  language proficiency via the TOIEC route. I stand under correction , but I believe that Ireland has also been deemed to not be an English speaking country either. What I personally find somewhat ridiculous is the need to repeat this test every two years,  their reason being, to check that you have not lost your ability to speak English in this period.

In my case, what is even more puzzling is that I have a BA TESOL degree, but this does not seem to carry any weight.

I am waiting for the day when Thailand can go for an entire week without doing a back-flip on its policy. We have had every scenario possible suggested over the past few weeks. I wonder what restrictions they will be planning for the lucky travelers who are obviously queuing already to kick the door down to get in?

Maybe, Pattaya only for Russian tourists, Phuket only for German tourists etc.etc. In this way they can quickly restrict travelers from these countries if infections occur in these locations. Surely this cannot be more ridiculous than what they have mooted previously or no doubt will mull about next week.

Basically the OP question is pointless . You want us to gamble on a date , in a international context , because not Thailand alone is involved . I will tell you the exact date ... 31 November at 23:59:99 ( ????) . All jokes aside , there is no answer at close sight , in Thailand as well as international . In Europe , there is travel , with regulations from region to region , changing on daily basis . Forget travel outside of Europe , not even any mentioning about it to be able to do soon . In Thailand it is even worse , but expect this year to open for travellers from close by countries , like China , Cambodia , Vietnam , Laos ... Further away , who knows ... not even politicians know , so asking us is looking in a crystal ball and for the moment it is nothing more then a piece of glass .

My bad! Having been following the posts on TVF for a number of years, I was under the, obviously misguided, impression, that there was a wealth of expert opinion to be found here on any topic under the sun. And that quite a few members had crystal balls that actually worked(no pun intended). Of course my post was pointless.

As to when normal air traffic will presume, your guess is as good as that of anybody else, nobody knows.
