What worries me that the police do not think it's strange that a 73-year-old man without driving license, who is deaf, semi-blind and drives a motorcycle with bad brakes.

Next time he will probably die or get hurt when he crashes with a farang.

Guess who have to pay then?

Driving without a driver's license should give a month's imprisonment, not 100 baht fine.

And how did you get on legally with shared custody? ........did the court award shared custody?

If you were to just take the child away without any consultation with the mother, or a court order, you will probably be arrested and charged with kidnapping the youngster or a similar offense; like you would in any country in the world with any rule of law.

I and the mother jointly applied for shared custody. The court decided to give us shared custody in the same way as if we were married. When I go alone with the children abroad, I only show up the court order for immigration.

You have to be legally married to the mother. If not married, you have no rights to the child whatsoever, sole responsibility is with the mother. This is the Thai law and one of the reasons so many Thai men can just walk away from a relationship without having to support the mother and child/ren. If you are legally married and you are the father, you share responsibilities and can go to court, but without marriage, you have no legal leverage.

I'm not married, but I sought shared custody from family court when my children were born. I still live with my girlfriend and our children.

I forgot , no need for this as there is no climate change anyway ... so , back to the glorious V8's , who burn 15 gallons on 100 miles ...?

    He already got a Tesla.

  5. Do not be as stupid as me and buy a Ford.

These are some things that have happened with my 3 1/2 year old Ford Ranger 3.2
    • manifold broken
    • turbo broken
    • lock the rear seat broken
    • head gasket broken
    • cam belt broken
    • water pump broken
    • air conditioning units broken
    • water leakage at the car roof antenna (destroyed ceiling)
    • holder interior rear view mirror broken
    • side panel driver's seat broken

Ford charged for 9.6 liters of oil but only filled with 7.6 liters of oil.
Ford failed to adjust the engine after replacing cam belt which led to ruined air conditioning.

Ford refuses to compensate me for oil not delivered and broken car. They said that from now on I'm a VIP customer and every time I get to the workshop, the manager will personally take care of me.
Perhaps Thai people listen to such bullshit.

Never more a Ford for me. It will be a Toyota instead.

Look mate, I don’t want to get into a petty argument with you.

I will just finish with these points, which you can accept or Not.

I also know of children who have enrolled in this school, and I am not aware of them taking any entrance exam. A couple of these children were know to be struggling at their previouse schools, So if in fact they did pass an entrance exam, I wonder at the level of the exam.

How can you state that they have the best teachers? That’s quite a broad stroke to make.

How much supervision does this franchise school receive from Rugby school,England? I ask this question, because the family who own this school are one of the richest in Thailand, and to them it’s just another business, watch the fees go up in the coming years.$£€$€£$€£

Your arguments are exactly the same as school management and teachers at Regents International School Pattaya use when talking about Rugby School Thailand. I have made my choice and am pleased with it. If you do not like wealthy Thai people, I think you should send your children to a Thai temple school.

While I know for a fact that certainly some parents, have been granted large discounts to move from other International schools to Rugby. And I am not talking just siblings. What parents should be aware of, will the school up their fees, when and if they achieve full capacity. Also some of the children who have moved, have done so because they were underachievers at their previouse schools.

The most important  factor in establishing a good school, is the quality of the teaching staff, some teachers are very good at inspiring their pupils, while others just go through the motions. How successful Rugby has been in attracting and employing such teachers,  I ‘ve no idea, I suspect the same as the other international schools.

My two sons go to Rugby School, they have previously attended another international school in the area. The other school was slightly more expensive than Rugby. The truth is that they do not charge entry fee 150,000 for those students starting in grades 7-13 now in September. My children who started the Reception and grade 3 in September last year also escaped the entrance fee 150,000 baht. All parents I talked to love the school, they have the best teachers, best schoolrooms, and free activities for all children until 6 p.m. every day. Rugby School Thailand is under the supervision of Rugby School England, which has been in business for over 450 years. It is the only school that has entrance examinations. I know several students with both parents from England who have not shown sufficient academic level to be admitted to school.

You’ve got to be joking. This school was recently set up by a very rich Thai family,in order to make even more money. The school opened last September, and so far has only attracted, mostly Thais,  who unjustifiable think because it’s fees are very high, that it must be a good school. Plus these higher fees are also an added attraction to some Thais, who want people to think they must have a great deal of money, if they can afford to send their children there. Allthough I now hear that due to only a small take up, that they are offering large discounts on fees. Will this make a big difference,I don’t know.

Up to 50% of the students may come from Thai families. Almost all students have moved from other international schools in the area such as Regents International School Pattaya. The school fee is not higher than other international schools. Most classes have waiting list. They don't offer any discounts on term fees except for siblings discount.

  9. "However the pink card is valid only up to 30 (40?) kilometres from the place of issue, as written on the back of the card."

Ask 10 Thais and you get 10 answers what the text on the back of the Pink Card really means.

From the beginning, the Pink Card was issued only to people from Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos who came to Thailand for work and who were only entitled to reside within a restricted area. No one within the authorities has thought about that they should change the text when it was possible for all foreigners to get the Pink Card.

Price gone from193 baht per litre to 373.

Does anyone know the real reason for this almost 100% increase?

I've never seen an ordinary Thai even look at the wine display so is it a farang tax?

Last Friday I payed 995 baht for 5 l Montclare in Jomthien.

I don't know what your card says, but mine says "Amphur". But it's valide outside the Amphur if I also bring the Alien Book.

But "Amphur" or "Province" doesn't matter when it comes to the main point of my comment.

I understand, that you are wrong doesn't matter...

I rest my case Mr Expert.

No idea if this is written somewhere on the yellow book, because i don't have one, but from the dopa website:

Summary: House book for foreigners who stay temporarily and people who entered illegally. But i'm quite sure this applies only to stateless people and if we enter Thailand illegally we can not be in a yellow book ?

When I applied for shared custody of my child at Juvenile Court, the 5 judges asked me when they saw a copy of the yellow book. "Do you really stay illegal in Thailand?" I asked them to continue reading the text and then they laughed.

Sorry, but your reply is non sense. The Thai workers  where the pink ID is a legally valid document, they know about it (i.e at official offices within the Amphur the ID is issued). In all other places the ID is not a valid document and it's not surprising if the "Thai workers" are confused and sometime accept it and sometime not. Don't blame the local guys.

Province - not Amphur (read the backside of the card).

I think that Naroge is talking about where the ID card was issued from and where it was obtained from. My first card was from Ubon city council office when I lived in the Tambon Muang and the second one was from the Amphur office when I moved house outside the city council tambon area.

Ask some smart thai to translate the text on the back of the ID card. The text is "Province" is not "Amphur". There is the same text on ID cards, regardless of which country you are from, UK, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia or Sweden.

I live in my Condo, have done for 5 years. I still cannot go in a blue book, I dont have PR. You appear to be confusing long term resident with Permanent Residency. People with PR dont have a visa/extension, they dont do 90 day reports etc and they can go in blue books.

Foreigners cannot go in Blue Book, unless you are one of the small percentage who have gone on to get Permanent Residency.

The whole reason a yellow book exists is because foreigners cannot go in a blue book.

99% of the people asking about Pink ID do not have PR and therefore cannot go in a blue book. Why advise (the 99%) people that they can go in a blue book and can get an ID using that blue book.

There are (in theory) 2 house books for every property, a blue book for Thais and PR (PR does not mean long stay), a yellow book for foreigners (even if they have been here 20 years).

The yellow book states that the holder either lives temporarily in the country or lives illegally in the country.

Some people on here claim they use the 'Pink ID Card' to travel on domestic flights and National Parks etc. My understanding is that the 'Pink ID Card' is only acceptable in the province of issue? Correct me if I'm wrong.

That's right, but during my two years as a pink ID card owner I have never seen a Thai who read the information on the back of the card. Sometimes I am joking and say that ordinary people get blue ID cards and V.I.P. people get pink cards. Strange but many Thais belive me ?

  17. In theory, the pink ID card is worthless.

For example, if you turn it, it says that it is only valid in your home province.
    In practice, it works everywhere.

I have my card for two years and it has worked everywhere. Hotels like Mariotte and Hilton accept it even though they must have passport information and TM number from the alien's passport. They just register you as a Thai citizen.
    Why does it work?
Because 99% of all Thai people do not know what it is. Nobody wants to lose his face, so they just smile and accept it as if it was a blue Thai ID card.

When I went to Siam Park City in Bangkok, my Thai wife had to pay 500 baht entrance fee, I myself didn´t have to pay any entrance fee.

So no, not jealous at all. Just pondering why you thought your fast Rayong IO experience was germane to the subject matter of the thread?

So jealous because I'm not Swedish? Hardly.

...you may have something with your meatballs though.

If you mean the so-called meatballs they serve on IKEA Bangkok, they taste crap. They are also manufactured in Poland but have been sent via Sweden. But some people apparently eat anything.
