  1. Some simple bare wires connected to a charged high voltage capacitor bank (for example 320 Volt 5000 or 6000 uf will do) u can find on google or utube how to make this. But be aware this could be deadly and you might find your gasoline thief next your motorcycle. If this is a concern you can use a lower voltage capacitor bank like 100 Volt and far less uf, this will still be the shock of a lifetime when done properly.

    Succes.

    You´d do what?

Where in the world would this be a legal action ?

If the thief is not dead he will torch your bike for sure - I would!

I think it would be worth it.

  2. Dont waste your time assisting the local community they really dont give a <deleted>, let them carry on their lives in their hovels etc with their broken roads and lack of decent water supply.

Found this out a long time ago, all they want to do is make up stories about you.

    True.

    Unfortunately.

Don't bother trying to help those that will actually (and absurdly) resent you for it. ;)

  3. many of us would like to help more with the local community, but are scared of the immigration rules. Everybody looses which is not a good thing at all

However, at least with those lovely photos of your hard work in progress immigration now have all the evidence they need to prosecute you.

Wouldn't it be the Dept. of Labour who would investigate?

It is the Immigration Police who are usually put in charge of arresting the foreign offenders when it comes to labour offenses.

  4. Come on. This is far from a hobby.
These guys were producing boats and selling them.
Good on immigration for doing their job.

    Keep Thailand for Thais

I know a guy here in BKK whose hobby (genuine hobby) is building the long wooden klong boats. Been here 25 years and has a house backing on to a khlong in rural Nonthaburi. Takes a year or two to make one and doesn't sell them. He says he has to be very careful when going out in them as the Thais will destroy his boats if they see them laying about. He mentioned there have been instances of guns being pulled out for using 'their' khlongs and cannot socialize with them as there would be sabotage and likely violence on serious scale.

All just very primitive, but speaks volumes about the mindset of the people.

Personally, if I was in their shoes and a foreigner came on the scene making his own boats I would be very interested in discussing their ideas and seeing the differences in our technology.

This country will die a horrible death economically if they don't wake up soon, and stop this crap.....

    No it won't.

There'll always be queues of Westernmen trying to live here no matter what.

When one sour guava rots away to the bitter core, another two fresh ones fall from the tree. wink.png

You quite possibly haven't noticed that Western Men are a bit thin on the ground lately, so hurrah for the Russians (who bring their own), and the Chinese, who are bussed about in pre paid tour groups. Do keep up.

Yeah, sounds like Thailand's dying a horrible economic death. :cheesy:

The Chinese groups on their 2 week tours would keep the English long distance lorry drivers in Chang vests and BGs for years. :D

The future of Thailand's tourist revenue is booming, and going to boom no matter what, regardless of what a few bitter guavas need to think to make themselves less angry and bitter. :D

  6. ps: just saw the picture of the robyngihas, and feel really sicksick.gif

I felt a bit sick a few months later when the Thai navy was invited to join the global team tackling pirates off Africa.

I asked a few people who brought it up proudly if they were the same ships and men that towed 1000 men, women and children out to the ocean and set them adrift to die suffering only a few months previously.

It didn't make me many friends in that circuit.

  7.

The article says; building their own boats. But it doesn`t mention whether or not they had intentions of selling these boats as a business, for a profit?

And who gonna determine what someones intention in the future will be.

    Blimey.

Thinking might actually be illegal, should we think of a profitable idea and use it later on.

*Looks nervously around to see if there are any Thai Immigration police coming in the front yard*

  8. Not sure this one, or the one where BiB arrested a guy in a KAREOKE bar for "singing without a work permit" is the most stupid.

Many guys jamming in blues bar in Chiang Mai were arrested and thrown in jail about a year or two ago. There was no payment involved and all for the love of music.

It was very well documented as (iirc) there were a couple of instances of it happening over a week or two period.

  9. If people are thinking that Thais keep an account with 2m simply to get a parking spot or safety deposit box then it's no wonder they don't have 2m to deposit.

I got a free t-shirt with a motorbike I bought, now try to figure out why I bought a motorbike just to get a lousy cheap T-shirt.

  10. What a bunch of idiots. I lived in Thailand for "20 Years" and it was the Thais acting just like this that eventually drove me out! What with the Visa/work-permit requirements or the need money in the bank every year, ghastly traffic - being called "Farung" at every given opportunity, and now one cannot even do what one want's on one's own property! Thailand you need a sharp wake up call to who actually brings money via tourism/foreigners unto your shores...I'm so glad I left the so-called land of smiles just over a year ago, and live with the grown-ups....Namaste...:-)

Yes, you sound like a picture of happiness. :)
