  1. I was never good at handling multiple girls, I am a bad liar, but I just dont want to go through the heartbreak of another breakup.

Is my only alternative bar girls on a regular basis? I dont want to get married, so I would prefer a pay-as-I-go relationship, maybe cost less in the short term. Do I need to be a liar and promise them everything and then eventually just leave them like so many other guys do on holiday?

    Then don't lie to them.

Don't tell any of them they are your girlfriend. Date them and have sex with them but never commit to anything or make false promises.

You don't have to outright tell them you're seeing other girls but if they ask you can be honest about it and say you may also be dating other people.

I honestly find that most take it well enough if you are honest and haven't bullshitted them and told them they are your girlfriend.

Sure some might stop seeing you but a lot of them will continue to and work even harder to get you to 'choose them'.

Personally I avoid bar girls because it's not my scene so I wouldn't do that.

For a guy in his 30s there's really no need to be banging hookers when in Thailand.

You always pay for it any way or the other.

Thank you so much! This is exactly the advice I was looking for.

  2. Ask Hugh Heffner from Playboy magazine.

Hughs problem is that he keeps marrying them and then gets bored with them.

The woman marrying Hugh want to make a career for themselves ,same same like some bargirls.

Hugh knows this and has big name lawyers setting up prenups for him and contracts for his blonde godesses i seem to remember some of those women have their own bussiness in making fitness video's ,and one has her own reality show .

Thai woman are a breed apart ...

I love Hugh at his age still a player but he knows how to play.

  3. I see its you who is confused because your saying its Thai when in fact its the Hindi symbol .And sawasdee originates from that as well .

Yes the first Buddha came from India so yes its origin is Hindi. Buddhism progressed from India. How else is it over 2500 years old with a little education? I was stating why Farang confuse it here in Thailand. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't most Thais practice Buddhism and display the symbol because of the relationship and parallels between the two religions? Some farang in Thailand have no idea that the first Buddha was from India and continue to be critical of the symbol and ignorantly start speaking of its use by the Nazi Party. This topic was applicable to discussions heard in Thailand? So thank you but I am far from being confused.
A few years ago i had a discussion with five Thai woman in my home country friends of my ex about buddhism ,after asking them where buddhism originates from they all said Thailand and when i told them India they looked at me like i was an alien or something.

So its not only farang who are confused about buddhism.

Theravada Buddhism as practiced in Thailand actually originates from Sri Lanka and adopted as the state religion in Thailand around 1300 AD

Yes al very nice ,but the discussion was about where it originates from.

    Buddhism has many different forms......

  4. I arrived here for the first time aged 25 in 2003. I Stayed for 2 months and loved the partying and cheapness of it all. I returned a few times over the next few years then decided I really wanted to have a life here and stay permanently. I thought I would be happy enough with the salary as a phoney English teacher but it wasn't the case. I bit the bullet and went back to work in Europe for 8 years to the money to start a business here. I wouldn't advice anyone to sacrifice a career to stay here. Make the coin first and don't be to hasty.

Why would i work most my life and throw everything i have out of the door to start a business in Thailand wich i can not fully own 49% i believe it is in Thailand and 51% is owned by Thais mostly the wife and if it goes south with the wife youre out on the street with nothing to show for it what a great investment that is .To much odds stacked against me and ive worked in a few third world countrys myself an experienced myself when things go wrong how much rights you have as a foreigner in a strange land.
Rent the premises in your name, buy the equipment in your own name and keep the receipts.Explain how you can be 'out in the street' with nothing to show for it?Yes as a foreigner you do need a 'front person', but it doesn't mean they own anything you paid for (unless you are stupid).
Ask the guys who are married with a thai without a prenup and have a bussines buy things during said marriage thai divorce law states that everything is fifty fifty receipts or not.And always funny that after high season there are so many farang "owned" bussenisses for sale on many ads on thailand related websites .
  5. Most Thai's i have known who live abroad are mainly interested in linking up with more Thai's and avoiding speaking English instead of trying to integrate and learn more of the language they say they are there to learn. The quality of the Prime Ministers English would suggest she did the same whilst supposedly 'learning' abroad.

The real question here is...Who in any other country is interested in 'Thainess' anyway?

Why does this sound o so familiar.

Don't get me wrong ive met nice Thai ladies in my country but most of them are not exactly the creme de la creme to promote their country and value's abroud.

  8. Every so many weeks the belgian police invaids thai massage salons for human trafficking and sex slave labour, and after that the so called ex pattaya hookers would cry innocence to lokal goverment officials saying i was forced in to this and get a permit to stay longer and get full benifits and after this said woman will just start again in another salon.

When looking online and lokal ads there are apparently more thai hookers working than any other nationality in my country .

Thats thainess for you miss dubai.

  9. You'll get a ton of people coming on and telling you that it's impossible to live in Thailand on 50,000B p/m and a load more saying they couldn't spend that much if they tried.

Yes it is possible. Very possible. Especially if you don't drink or pick up bar girls....but if you don't then why the dump that is Pattaya? It can't be for the beaches or culture.

I am a full time pool player, six times a week in fact except on Saturday. Bought two condos in 2005 cos the Pool scene in Pattaya is fantastic, probably the best in the world. Preparing myself for retirement in either next year or 2015. I just want a feelers of Expat experience. Swimming everyday is also my other hobby. Of course the Bargirls is another choice but they are not far away from my two main hobbies. Maybe one a week will be sufficient for me.
why are you asking these things in a pattaya forum,The belgian fella with his restaurant does not know what hes talking about himself and he was a parracommando that came to thailand as an instructor to the thai special forces bla bla ...

If you wanna find hardcore poolplayers just go to most local bars with a pool table ,most bargirls will give you the pool experience of a lifetime wich most world champion snooker players do not know how to do.and at one point every and other every farang owning a bussiness in pattaya has some fony royal recomondation plak hanging on the wall.

If you wanna play pool for real or snooker six times a week beter u move to the uk or usa fella .

I already experienced Pool scene since 2004, i dont play in most bars , Top quality tables with great players is what i always like to compete with clubs like Mega Break Soi Diana. I do play the bargirls sometimes with lots of fun. Why am i asking things in Pattaya forum ? Am i entitlled to ? Of course i am. I am seriously moving to Thailand in 2014/15 and wanted to make sure that i have enough cash to live full life in thailand . That is why i am asking people here to give me an advice, Nothing wrong with that ! By the way, I,m Irish, There is no one playing snooker or pool at all in my town. But in Pattaya, there is three night of pubs league pool and three nights of pool handicap at Mega Break. Pool is my love, Pattaya is perfect place to be for me, The sun, The foods, The culture etc.

what culture are you talking about when hanging around pool tables all the time?

  11. "Unless I want to lower my lifestyle." Food is definitely cheaper in the US as are all sundries from laundry soap to you name it. Transport cheaper? Not if you drive a decent 4x4 pickup. Mine happens to be a Ford F150 4x4 that cost me US$28,000 new. That's 875k baht. Gasoline is $3.60 a US gallon. I just bought 95 liters for 2800 baht. Far higher quality beef and chicken is cheaper. Almost any Western food is cheaper. Fast food like KFC, Burger King etc. is cheaper and the meat is better. Clothes are WAY cheaper. Electronics are way cheaper. Find a really good up to date laptop with a genuine copy of Windows 8 for $395 in Thailand. I could go out today and buy a new Camry LE with auto well equipped for $18,500 (575k baht) and you're telling me that transport is cheaper?

I pay no import taxes and no sales tax and anything I buy is net, out the door.

No, I can't live that lifestyle for the money in Thailand.

Not sure where you are buying all your food and other household items or just how dirt cheap things must be in the USA but nearly all of that stuff is much cheaper here than what I pay for it in the UK including food, toiletries and house hold items.

Western food cheaper in the West than in Thailand.....then maybe try eating the local food?

If you were in the USA you wouldn't eat Thai food all the time then moan it was more expensive than local food....of course it is!

Though McDonalds, BK, Subway etc here is a bit cheaper than in the UK or at worst it's around the same price. You can get sub of the day here for 80/90B and you defo can't get a Subway sandwhich back home for that price it's more like 175-200B.

And who needs it anyway when there's fast food on every street corner in Thailand?

    Transport I meant public transport.

It doesn't make sense to come to another country then try and live the exact same lifestyle you lived back home.

A fair comparison would be a normal lifestyle back home versus a normal lifestyle here.

So eating local food, drinking local beer, buying local items etc would make living in Thailand much cheaper than the West.

You just dont get it do you?corporations rule the world internet man.

    Good for them.

Doesn't change anything for me. What is your point?

Agree. Thailand is expensive if you compare similar goods. If you're not living like a Thai(living in a dumpy room with no aircon, eating fried rice, and driving a motorbike), you're better off somewhere else.

But you don't need to live in a room with no aircon, eat fried rice every day or drive a motorbike (though I'm sure some people like fried rice and having a motorbike) and you can still live here much cheaper and have a better life than back home.

It's not all about possessions and what you can own it's about quality of life. Most people back home pay so much on rent / mortgage, bills, travel expenses, food shopping and keeping up with the neighbours they can barely afford a night out a week or 7 days holiday a year.

Here you can eat out every night, party multiple times per week, date loads of new girls and have a lot of fun without breaking the bank.

All the people who came to Thailand and want / expected the exact same life as they had back home...why did you come here? Wouldn't you be better just staying at home and saving money?

i am not staying in thailand ,comprende.

And find it good for holidays.

How many of you guys living there have several propertys in there own name and i dont mean condos or a house via some stupid legal /illegal constructions without the help of the thai spouse /girlffriend.well i do in my country .

  12. The first mug I ever met.

Sex Tourism as we know it today. Where it all started in SE Asia. Philippines. Mail Order Brides.

Only a couple of years into Martial Law and Marcos' Kilusan Bagong Lipunan, 'The New Society'. Marcos was actively promoting tourism, declaring the PI was now 'safe'. Even though the Martial Law and the Nationwide Curfew were in effect. (SEP 72)

Prior to the opening up of Ermita in the mid 70s Pasay (Peso) City was where the bars and cat houses were located. Old, shabby, dirty, smally, run down wooden structures, where all firearms and lethal weapons were to be checked at the door.

Then by 1974 the shutters came off the windows and doors, and bars began springing up throughout the Ermita Area, namely Mabini and M H Del Pilar Streets. I was just 21 YO at this time. and had been visiting the PI since I was 16.

Manila, PI XMAS 1975. One evening in 1975 just before XMAS my 3 mates and I walked into the 'Spider's Web' Bar. There sitting on a stool at the bar was an 'Old Man'. An Australian. His name was Doug Mason, a cashed up Real Estate Business owner from Sydney's affluent North Shore. He was in his early 50's. This was pretty unique. You didn't come across blokes like this in a place like this. Naturally there were some older American 'Veterans' kicking around but not blokes like Doug Mason. In fact he was only on a brief stopover from Hong Kong to Australia.

Sitting on Doug's lap, at the bar was a 19 YO Filippina by the name of Mary-Lou. Doug was smitten. It really was Xmas. In the days where flights were fewer and it was difficult and punative to alter your flight itinerary Doug managed to get a doctor's certficate declaring he was ill and unable to travel. So Doug extended his stay in Manila. Deeply in love with Mary-Lou.

He returned to Sydney in the New Year, told his wife and two teenage sons he was leaving them - and the business and moving to Manila. Christmas Night 1976, Spider's Web Bar. My mates and I walked in. Doug was sitting on a stool at the bar. Head in hands. Mary-Lou was standing behind him screaming obscenities at him in Tagalog, kicking him up the arse and slapping the back of his head as she did so. Humiliating him. Abusing him. He looked 10 years older. Broken.

I immediately lunged for her and grabbed her around the throat and pinned her against the wall. I was furious. My mates pulled me away. I sat down with Doug and wanted to know why he was allowing this to happen. But really, we all knew why. The furry magnet.

The following year he purchased Trixie's Bar (formerly owned by an Australian woman married to a Filippino, another rare occurrence at the time). Tourism was still getting underway at this time, so Doug found himself with a bar, filled nightly with relatives and the extended family of the bride, Mary Lou. He finshed up with a bar full of cheap watches and other trinkets as payment from the Filippinos who availed themselves of his hospitality and alcohol. Of course the bar went broke and they moved out to a house Doug bought in Paranaque. I went out there for a party, but my relationship with Mary Lou was never that good after that night I hauled her off him.

Later that year my mate pulled into Manila serving in an Australian Warship. He walked up to the Waltzing Matilda Bar. There, employed as the 'Day Manager' was Doug. 300 Pesos per day, plus all you could drink. Playing host to the increasing numbers of Sex Tourists from Australia. he was a broken man. As he related to my mate. In a fight with Mary-Lou he had smacked her girlfriend over with head with an ash tray. She had taken his passport and headed to the Police Station and had him charged with assault, He was now on, what the Filippinos called 'Legal Hold', not allowed to leave the country, whilst they milked him dry.

He was desperate and asked my mate to smuggle him onboard his ship and get him out of there. Naturally my mate said now way could he do that. besides they were off to HK after Manila, not going back to Oz for months yet, Doug didn't care. HK was OK by him. Just get me out of the PI. It was a no can do. My mate refused.

I never saw Doug again after that. Although I did hear he made it back to Aust. After losing everything he had and those he loved.

I watched Ermita grow until it became the Sex Capital and Party town of SE Asia. Farang owned bars and businesses proliferated at lightning speed. I remember one night standing outside the Spiders Web, with my good friend, 'Boy' Mecado, the Night Manager of the group of three bars - Eagles Nest, Spiders Web and China Coast. Looking up and down the now busy M H Del Pilar Street. Boy turned to me and said. Look at all these foreigners, they come here and buy up everything and treat us like dirt. One day when the Filippino people want it back, we will take it back. And a decade or so later, along with Mayor Lim - They did.

We used to reckon that a mug got off the plane every minute in Manila. Not a lot has changed since then really. it's just gone digital.

i think the japanese now a lot more than you about chagging /raping the local females during the second world war when marcos was a wee young lad .

Nice could be a stickmanbangkok submission but.......

I remeber when marcos had to flee the country with his emelda but she had a nice shoe collection she had to leave behind most fashion designers and models in europe would want a shoe collection like that and most of the people in that country where eating of of the garbage dumps outside of manila and the catholic church ,and american missionaries really destroyed that country and helped to stay marcos in power for many years against communism in that region.

Tut tut, get your history right if your going to be pulling up other members, before the Japanese came the Americans, who had a whale of a time banging the Pinoy princesses whether they liked it or not.

They weren't the first. You'll find that cpofc has a greater grasp on the history of the region than you could ever start to comprehend.

Anyway, it's a pathetic thread. There's people getting conned like this all over the world, and there's even reports of Thais falling for it too. So what's the big news of the day?

    Some people are gullible.

    Whoop de whoo. :coffee1:

So go back to the pub section then ,to that sleazy hotelroom with rat and mercedes girl .

What an intresting topic that was.

  13. Interesting tale, cpofc, Manila sounds like a fascinating place. Sometimes I kind of wish I was a man. You guys get into all sorts of crazy situations. Life must be one adventure after another.

The first stories of the kingdom of siam in western history was done by portugese missionaries ,apparently they new alot about ladies of ill repute and opium .sex ,and drugs but without the rock and roll.

And also the voc.the dutch indies company wich where nothing else than a bunch of drug/opium runners.

Don't you people read books ,al this can be found on the net you now and a much beter read then i got done over by a bargirl on the stickmansite.

  15. And For the life of me i do not understand why so called guys saying they have a masters or bacholers degree want to waste there life behind a computer screen in some crappy condo in Thailand saying there making loads a money whilst every multinational company is represented in Thailand and has people working for them on a nice expat package with very nice benefits ,so why dont these guys try to get a job at one of these companys instead of blah blah ....Thailand is one of the fastest growing economys in the region and every foreign company wants a piece of the action if i understand correctly.

You just don't get it do you?yes i do the yobs youre talking about can be done by cheap indians via internet ,they call them call centers ,even the company i work for uses them if i have problems with my company laptop or creditcard or i get an indian guy or filipino on the line 24/7 its big world becoming smaller everyday .its you who doesnt get it . For economic and location independence. The fact that you can work from anywhere in the world as long as you have a laptop. The fact that when you're bored with BKK you fuc_k off to Rio to live there for a year instead and when you're done with that you bugger off somewhere else. You can spend all day sitting in front of your own computer in your own apartment setting your own work hours, doing as much as little as you like, put some music on, take a day off when you feel like it or you can spend all day sat in front of a computer at your employers office and be told what time you have to start and leave at every day, when you can take a break, what you have to do and so on. You can do what you want when you want and no one tells you what to do. If you fancy going for a swim, using the gym, hitting the coffee shop, drinking a beer whilst you work or going off to meet a bird you can do it....try doing that when you work for a company. I know what sounds better to me. That's why people choose to work from their "crappy condos" and sit at their computers 'waste their life'. Jobs are for people who need to be told what to do because they don't have the ability to think properly for themselves.
For the simple reason that there are some people who prefer to dictate the terms and the tempo of their own lives. Working for corporates has its appeal but it demands a lot in return like commitment, time, loyalty, obligation, responsibility . . . all things that some people would rather give to building something for themselves. I did that corporate crap for years back in the City - surrounded by clones who actually introduced each other by name, bank and division. "Hey Rupert, meet Ginny, She heads up European Credit Risk at Deutsche" (I'm serious). Getting up at the crack of dawn, commuting, gathering around the lunch trough between 12pm and 1pm then struggling home again after?? Nah. Personally, I'd rather wake up in my "crappy condo" at 1pm, saunter down to Starbucks or have some breakfast croissants delivered, switch on the screens, trade a little when London opens while watching a documentary, then afternoon tea followed by the gym. That's been my M.O. for the last 5 years. I've got no wrinkles, good health, a full head of hair and I'm completely solvent both here and back in London.
Indeed. Can't imagine having to commute to work and back in Bangkok would be much fun.
good for you and i really mean that .But Thailand and the rest of the world are sadly enough moving in the same direction as the western world and you had the chance to extract yourself from that kind of life ,but soon there will be no more escape from that kind of life even in developing nations so wake up and smell the starbucks coffee .
What are you even on about? You don't have to escape your life when you're already living your dream.
Thailand isn't cheaper than where I am in the US unless I want to significantly lower my lifestyle.
So what things are cheaper where you are in the US? I can't see how the USA can be more expensive than Thailand where all the basics like rent, bills, food, drinks, transport are considerably cheaper than the West.
i hear rio is in brazil a very economic boomer and wants to waist its third world status same like Thailand so maybe in the future guys like you wil have to move to congo.

You just dont get it do you?corporations rule the world internet man.

  16. Throw away that bong and the funny weed boy ,and watch less of those james bond movies there only fiction you know young man.

And if you want to post back read a book called the damage done by waren fellows .

Its about a guy who did 12 years in the bangkok hilton for smuggling heroin and its a scary read .

  17. Things must be incredibly expensive in London. Yesterday I put 95 liters of gasoline in my pickup for US$90 (2800 baht.) That's 25 US gallons. I think you Londoners get the crap taxed out of you. Electronics of all kinds are cheap as are cars and pickups. Housing in the more rural areas is cheap.

Thailand isn't cheaper than where I am in the US unless I want to significantly lower my lifestyle.

Also as a young person, you can buy a home and have it paid for by the time you're 50 easily, and sell or rent it for income to retire. Or you can just live in it. And no, the taxes on it aren't high.

If you spend your life in Thailand, unless you hit the jackpot and really figure out a way to make a lot of money and are smart enough to save it, you will retire broke.

You driving a humvee or something ?

  19. And For the life of me i do not understand why so called guys saying they have a masters or bacholers degree want to waste there life behind a computer screen in some crappy condo in Thailand saying there making loads a money whilst every multinational company is represented in Thailand and has people working for them on a nice expat package with very nice benefits ,so why dont these guys try to get a job at one of these companys instead of blah blah ....

Thailand is one of the fastest growing economys in the region and every foreign company wants a piece of the action if i understand correctly.

  20. Hit a nerve?

    Don't be ridiculous.

I'm sitting here laughing because I just know that when you come to Thailand, you walk around waving your wad in the locals' faces sayin' "Oi, Oi. Look at 'at! Eh? Eh? Git sum. Look at my wad. I got loadsaaaaaaaah"

Looks like i have hit a nerve and youre speaking from own experience judging from youre quote above.

I take my hat off to you, Kudel because clearly, if brains were dynamite, you wouldn't be able to blow the wax out of your ears but despite that crippling handicap, you've still managed to set yourself up financially.

Pity you didn't spend some time working on your attitude, though.

thx i will work on my attitude in the temple where the jet set monk hails from, but you should work on yours to:-)

Ps:If you dont have an attitude in my line of work and life you would not last long .

  21. So al you so called internet warriors making the big bucks from youre shoe box condos will have nothing to show for in the future when you get to my age except the clothes that are in youre lugage and on youre back.

What a stupid thing to say. <deleted> do you know about everyone else's spending or saving habits?? You sound just like Harry Enfield's Loadsamoney character. know guys making as much as £50-100,000 a month trading online from their "shoeboxes" on the top floors of BKK's finest condo buildings and hey, they ain't risking life and limb on a bloody oil rig in the middle of the <deleted>' ocean so wind your neck back in, ease off the throttle and gently apply the brakes. It's fine to be skeptical about those making money from the internet but don't make an idiot out of yourself by talking crap when you really don't have a clue
Hit a nerve did i buddy ,i think you don't have a <deleted> clue and are talkin out of youre arse .

  22. I have no idea how a young guy with no money moves to Thailand and has a good life. I suppose he could teach English and scrape by, but he'd be putting nothing away for his future. He also wouldn't be able to afford to hit the bars or bar girls. He could have a girlfriend if she had a job and didn't expect him to be an ATM machine. There is one plan that would work if he's willing to be married, but he'd still be putting nothing away for his future. He could marry a gal with a master's degree and a good government job if he could scrape up the money to get his marriage visa. Then if they both earned 30k, and if he could then get into the government health care system, they could get by OK. IMHO too many guys marry a needy gal and wind up being expected to support her and her family. Any house or car purchased on credit would have the loans in her name. There is the new house scheme and the new car scheme for her. They still wouldn't be well off but they'd get by. If the marriage went sour he could walk. Still, the guy is going to reach retirement age broke.

Look buddy ,i'm an offshore worker with tons of experience and have worked in more country's than you wil ever visit in youre life.I make very good money and have a lot of propertys in my home country and because i work more than six months per year out of my country i dont have to pay income taxes .So in total i work six months per year and have the rest of the year of and pay my one so called social security, and some nice pension plans aside. But i am getting divorced from my soon to be ex thai wife and luckely i had a good prenup set up before we married .So al you so called internet warriors making the big bucks from youre shoe box condos will have nothing to show for in the future when you get to my age except the clothes that are in youre lugage and on youre back.So i am not struggeling in my countrys and will never have to live of 14.000 baht a month and second hand clothes en my 2 kids wil get a decent education Wich is cheaper than in Thailand.

Hit a nerve did i buddy ,i think you don't have a <deleted> clue and are talkin out of youre arse and concerning the so called hard earners in asoke i think they have more risk of getting long cancer in those high rise overpriced condos then me and i dont work on oil rigs .I think you are talking about people who work for multinationals with high paying expat packages in asoke and not the 20 something internetguys boasting about the cheap noodles they can buy on the street and some cheap chag they found on an internet datingsite for the night.
