As usual most replies way off the mark.
Yes, mate the bars will close as per law for 48 hours of the election weekend.
So it will be BYO time
Not exactly -- in my district anyway.
It is usually from 18:00 on the Saturday until midnight on the Sunday BUT the police usually come around the bars about eight o/clock on Sunday to say it's OK to resume selling alcohol.

In the UK people tend to hold their mobile phone to their ear whilst talking ????
Yes, I've seen that here too ---- it looks very odd.

Really?
On what do you base that?

Why do they have to do tests at all?
Many countries (with more sophisticated testing methods) have done comprehensive tests and published their results.
Do the Thais think they can do it better? Or just too arrogant to accept others findings?

Why PAYPAL?
The UK pensions will pay direct into your Thai bank account here.

Yes, he could have found this easily by Googling.

Very funny Cadbury but I was told that it is due to the person on the other end using speaker. Your voice is delayed slightly and then picked up by the other's mic.
I really don't understand people listening on loudspeaker -- first it is not private and hard to hear from ambient noises. Far better to use a 'small talk' where you can hear clearly and your voice is clearer from the smalltalk mic. and you don't have to shout to make yourself heard at the other end.

Thanks BENQ -- that's pretty conclusive. Khratong floating on the Thursday.

Wife says 22nd , some may say 23rd as thats a Friday evening and may organise events for weekend etc.(possibly) ????
Thanks Charlie. What made me think 23rd is that 23rd is the full moon day. In the meantime I'd asked a bar in Chiang Mai and they replied that it is a 3 day celebration with the 'big day'on the Friday.
My local bar in Bangkok thinks, like your wife, it is the Thursday.

Searching for Loy Khratong day this year, I find two results --- 22nd or 23rd of November.
Now, I always thought that it fell on the night of the full moon which is the 23rd. So why do some sites quote the 22nd.

Ah Edith Clampton. And her plan to make sidesaddle motorcycle passengers more respectable by providing them with t-towels to cover their modesty. I recall it was an election time and they would be financed by candidates having their faces printed on them.
Those were the days when 'letters to the editor' were enjoyable.

Is the one pointing at the wall a bloke or a sheila?
No not Sheila -- Britney -- the clue is in the 'B' that she wrote.

It's not only 7-11, it's Boots and right around the corner into Convent taking Molly Malones, Bua etc.
It's going to be a huge development.
Along with Dusit thani at the end of the year.

The Chatuchak plant sections are also open Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Thanks Oxx that would be ideal.

Is there a garden centre (buying plants etc.) in Bangkok accessible by Skytrain or subway?
I'm mid-Sukhumvit near Emporium.
I cannot do Chatuchak because I'm tied up at weekends.
Thanks in advance.

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa ConnectWell this poster DOES live in Bangkok and uses these very streets every day for 20 years. Now Silom is dead. People used to come just to see the street market and food stalls day and nighttime. For heaven's sake it's a couple of hundred metres from how many thousands in Bangkok?
Oh, and can I see proof of your assertion that 90% of Thais are happier now -- fake news if ever I saw it!
