The man is said to come from the central part of Norway and to be vacationing in Thailand. At the time of death there were smaller waves and a light wind at the shallow waters of Cha-am.
Sounds like a peaceful way to go. Weird description.

I'm a rider and learned fast the perils of a big bike. Just because you have power doesn't mean you are supposed to always use it. I ride more cautiously on my er6 than I did on my mio. A long empty stretch of freeway or twisties is a good place to open up, in traffic weaving between cars not so much. I rather wait behind a bus while scooters fly by in the nooks and crannies next to me (wishing I was on a country road instead of Bangkok traffic) than finding myself lodged under one or slamming into an uncautions driver not expecting me and my pony to come weaving at full speed.

Another quality tourist is it?

In all honesty the video made me think life is better on the islands than bangkok. But from experience the islands house some of the fiercest Thais. It's a great video nonetheless and helps bridge the gap in understanding between the cultures.

Arrested and fined in this situation means "caught and fined". It's just a knee jerk reaction anyways. Everyone in this country drives or rides like a schmuck so footpath riding has been a way for motorcyclists to circumvent that issue.

There is a 'cap' on food prices? Shouldn't it be down to the food vendor how much they charge for their food and up to the public whether or not it is a fair price? Isn't this what creates a diverse and competitive market?
If you read correctly you will notice that this only applies to food vendors who are subscribed to the government cheap food scheme. It's meant for low income people to afford food.

He rode without a helmet, hitting his head on the steering wheel. Whe then died in the ambulance as it was stuck in traffic. One would hope they took the helicopter instead.

"...police refused on the grounds that any testimony given to the rights commission may affect the ongoing murder investigation."
Although unintentional on part of the police, this statement confirms how rudimentary their investigation was.

A better solution would be to conscript active forum members on ThaiVisa since they are quite knowledge about Thailand's problems and are exceptional at problem solving.
-
This is the problem with Police; they care more about face than finding the truth.

This would make a good movie. Especially if there was a surprise witness to refute the evidence in hand. Perhaps proceeds would go to an international fund to assist the families of victims. I would hate to see somebody capitalize on the tragedy, but public awareness should be the goal.
Great idea! Directed by Lars Von Trier.

I love how political parties buys and starts tv stations to start the propaganda machine in preparation of return of Thai democracy. Democracy is meaningless if the voters are uneducated and swayed by free tv.

Everybody knows it's possible to get away with murder if you are rich in Thailand. Some poor person goes to jail and their family gets compensation. Once the police is in your pocket they'll protect you too.

Are you sure it is the BIB?
It's always the BIB.

This is smart. If it's 10,000, people will stop bribing in fear of the police reporting them. Hence, they will rather take a 400 baht ticket at the station. If no one bribes the cops anymore, having so many traffic checkpoints will no longer be lucrative for the police and just more work for them. And since going to the station sucks, people might just opt for not breaking the law in the first place. Poor cops..

Justice will be swerved.

The farang should have paid his damn fee like everyone else. Idiot. Why have I never been struck by wood? Because I pay for parking just like the Thais! Did he think being white would let him park for free? Sorry, this ain't no old English colony. Thainess is about correcting <deleted>.

This is good and is a way to let tourists have fun without worries. Everyone knows Thailand is not safe, so it is better to make a play pen for the tourists rather than falsely saying they can go on partying as they please without a worry.

Oh this is terrible. Only happens in Thailand. Oh the Thais. Oh TIT. BIB. I am a delusional farang who hates this place and blames my failures on the stupid thai. I was right all along. But I won't leave.

If my mom is half white half asian, and my father is white, would I be "asian" as these dna tests suggested possible? There are plenty of "farang looking" people who still have mixed genes. So it could look like a farang but still have Asian genes. The use of the word "foreigner" and asian DNA complicates this because they are not mutually exclusive.

Facepalm. How do they know the DNA test will dispel public suspicion BEFORE it has been conducted? This is why no one trusts the "police".
