I wonder what happened to the yamaha driver? Seems he has been hit, too. So hopefully he is the one being killed not any on the motorcycle people who have been hit for sure.

this behaviour of the taxi driver is a criminal act and it should be seen and punished as those.
Including cancelling their license (if they have one),
Inactive police should be seen as a crime as well.

"He also insisted that fares for motorcycle taxi rides are regulated by the government."
Oh yes - and the "legal" drivers keep to the regulations?

better an honest taxi driver who is unlicenced and unregistered
than a registered one who is fleecing their customers

Back to square one?
Have been expecting something like this. Knowing the history of Kim and NK's way of negotiating I didn't trust their sudden willingness. I thought they would find something to stop it all and put the blame on the other side

In July my family will come to chiang mai - we want to travel around in the area for about 1 or 2 weeks.
We shall need a minibus (we are 6 persons)
- anybody any idea where to get one with a reliable driver and for a good price ?
Thank you in advance

I read about punishment in Saudi Arabia. long prison term and heavy public whipping once a weak
While I am not a fan of sharia or other kinds of violent punishment, I guess that kind of face loss might be able to effectively decrease the number of homicide in LOS and save many lives.

His decision is understandable.

Kim is behaving nicely now because he is under threat
I guess Xi made very clear what would happen if Kim would not stop his madness.
And Trump's war mongering might have played an important role.

Court should listen to kids rather than parents.
that will not work. Usually kids are living with the mother already - contact to the father denied. Easy job for the mother to influence the children the way she wants. (Own experience)

Third, because of the second and no supervision the children fall from the balcony.
I guess it´s high time to give Mr. Borel his chance. I doubt he can do worse.Another case where the mother uses the children as a weapon of hatred against the father. Unfortunately the right of the father is not well protected by law. In the end the children will be victims, too - in this case by missing a proper education among emotional and other disadvantages.

Covering up the item does not constitute taking reasonable steps. A simple phone call from the phone could have identified the proper owner. Or if it was password protected they could have easily dropped it off at a police station.
"... they could have easily dropped it off at a police station."
or just dropped it the counter in the very business where they "found" it

"he report highlights the resistance among Merkel's conservatives to any euro zone reforms that could see more German taxpayers' money being used to fund other member states."
They're absolutely right.
"Merkel called for a spirit of compromise on reforming the euro zone ..."
as if she hadn't wreaked enough havoc with her opening the gates for scum (I don't mind the good people who would be grateful for the help and respect their guest country, willing to leave when it is possible)

Well, even it might not happen because many people will lose face.....but I appreciate and got high respect that people in Thailand dare to oppose the government and actively resist officials. .
They risk their lives and are in danger to be arrested and throw into jail.
This shows me that one day it might even be the majority to say no to government plans and no to any Junta.
"one day it might even be the majority to say no to government plans and no to any Junta."
... and no to any kleptocracy and corruption
and no to criminals in politics

The only solution should be to remove this annoyance
It was a mistake to allow this project for more than one reason
- so make it undone

"Pol Maj-General Surachet Hakpal, deputy commissioner of the Tourism Police Bureau, said the call-centre" scams could be regarded as having been eradicated from Thailand."
I hope it is true,
but I dare to doubt that, Sir.
Anyway if so, please now eradicate corruption

Trump casts doubt on planned summit with North Korean leader
in World News

considering the history of the North Korean tyrants it was to be expected that Kim is lying and playing poker, cannot be trusted and never will give up his nukes - except he is forced to.
