  1. I have met stickman on more than one occasion. I can say that generally he has mellowed some after he got married. But I also know that he is quite possibly the most influential non Thais in Bangkok

Really ? That'll come as news to Bill Heienecke. :o

Influencing a few piss-heads into a girlie bar - yes, most influential farang in bangkok - no.

Yer, I'll go along with that Perdo - his influence is restricted and he is be no means anywhere near the most influential farang in Thailand. Bill Heinecke would laugh his head off if he read that, and so would a couple other ex-pats in Thailand who stay in the background but who's business ineterests come into our lifestyles almost everyday without us even realising it.

Stickman is a entertaining read on a lifestyle that reflects his experiance of Thailand, but what's news today is forgotten tomorrow - and he is the first to realise that.

    Tim

Speak for yourself dude. The Dude don't forget a lot of that stuff nor do many other dudes. A lot of that chit on the stickman site is pertinent information to be dug by the expat masses. The Dude hands stick a gold plated shovel for his enormous contribution to the expat community here . As for Bill Heineken, I got no idea who he is. Does he have anything to do with the brewery? Keep on digging the stickman's reads. Dig?

  2. The Dude can help out on this one as his gf digs the hobby with more than one shovel. She is a mass producer of these crochet dolls. She digs a shop on Asok Blvd. Coming out of Asok sky train station, exit on the even numbered soi side of sukhumvit closest to Asok Rd. Take a right at Asok Rd from Sukhumvit and there is a great shop with massive supplies on the right side about 5 store fronts down or so. The Dude's gf is wild about this store and The Dude himself has been in and can dig that they carry a huge supply of excusively yarns and crochet products. Go there and dig it

  3. The Dude can dig a rematch of the great 1973 world series btw The A's of Oakland and The Amazing NY Mets from Flushing Queens. The mighty you gotta believe Mets will take the series in 7 games behind the pitching of Trashel, Glavine and Maine along with it's stellar bullpen of Heileman, Feliciano, Bradford, Mota, Oliver and Wagner. The Met bats will be alive with Wright, Reyes, Delgado, Lo Duca, Valentin, Beltran and Chavez. Let's Go Mets and diggin' it with a shovel in 7 games

  4. 15yrs??? :D Now if thats not taking the piss - I dont what is. :D

On the Other hand, it does suggest that in the last 15 years this "citizen" has not had any brushes with the law and has gone about their business, spending their money in Thailand and helping the economy along quite nicely...no? :D

He was actually a bit of a naughty lad - having relieved a number of people, including myself, of money (of which I got mine back eventually....) - and it was more a matter of keeping his head well down, avoiding those who were looking for him, rather than supporting the economy!!!! He was actually involved in a nasty accident 2 years ago and was taken to hospital in BKK - but he always seems to have known the "right" people and greased the right palms to keep himself out of jail. For those in doubt, he really was 15 years in Thailand without a permit. :o He went to a lawyer to sort things out for him, gladly paying the lawyer´s fee, rather than taking the chance of being picked up at the airport and subjected to Buddha knows what by the authorities!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi lads hayashi here just to let you know i landed at a nice new airport thursday night and it was raining. And now im in Bangkok had no trouble with my passport,to a chance immigration just stamp my passport i have 30 day visa.

The Dude advises not to gloat too much on this situation

  5. I'm not familar with Iggy Pop's tunes but I noticed in Rolling Stones' top 500 LPs that he and the Stooges had at least 2 in there. I take it that is some solid material. Bowie I can dig but never explored his obscure material even though I had Ziggy, Young Americans, Diamond Dogs, Low, Alladin Sane, Let's Dance and Hunky Dory. Out of those I only explored Hunky Dory and loved it. The others I listened to one or 2 times but nothing blew me away except for the main hits; you know the songs that were on the greatest hits compilation Changes and Changes 2. I never could move beyond those 2 records and get immersed in Bowie's music although the material on them was outstanding. I picked up a DVD clip compilation of Bowie and was pleased to see some obscure Hunky Dory stuff on there. Those HD clip were from '71-'72 and were recorded live, not lipped, in the BBC studios: Queen bitch, Five Years and Oh You pretty things. The rest of that DVD was a boring collection of lip sync music videos except for an excellent live performance of Young Americans on the Dick Cavett show. It also stinks having to watch Bowie in his feminine get ups in most of those videos; Ziggy live falls into that category as well.

as for Lou Reed, I should explore the Velvet Underground stuff but haven't gotten around to doing that. Picked up a recent live dvd from him, watched some of it and it wasn't blowing me away

  6. Take care with those Vikes buddy. I don't need to tell you how ragingly addictive they are. I don't believe that vikes are available in Thailand so be wary of that. If you're really in that much pain, perhaps you should tell your US doc to hook you up with Oxys; then you really won't feel anything and you'll sleep like a baby even when you wanna be up. Those puppies are deadly. Nope, can't get oxys in Thailand either. Oh yeah, and dude, keep combating that pain with those Vikes for sure and rest easy. Should the day come when they are unavailable to you, we will be here for you cause it'll be a rough time. Stop taking those bad babies for a week and you'll see what I mean but I'm sure you know

  7. I remember once discussing music with a dude at a party once. We were both very heavily into tunes but couldn't find any common ground on bands that we liked and I mean I like a lot of shit. There were only 2 bands that both of us liked...

    Bowie and Lou Reed

I called him on this and wondered why these were the only 2. He made some remark that it wasnt what I thought. I still dont understand. I mention this b/c Neens lists both in his top 10

  8. usually you can buy almost anything over the counter at pharmacies here , over the past two or three years however , the authorities have been tightening up on the unrestricted sale of certain addictive drugs , like tranquilizers , sleeping pills etc.

vicodin is a habit forming narcotic painkiller and strictly speaking i would imagine its sale is controlled to those who have a doctors prescription for it.

however , there are many pharmacies that will sell these pharmaceuticals without prescription , you will just have to ask around.

if you want to get a prescription , then most doctors would write one for you if you gave them your medical history and showed them your usa or uk etc. prescription.

be careful if you are thinking of bringing a suitcase full of these narcotic painkillers when you arrive , have a letter from your doctor explaining your clinical need for them , in case you are challenged at the airport here on arrival.

Nope, you won't be getting no vikes here, sorry. And you won't be buying and codeiene OTC either like you could 3 years ago. The best thing they ever did was pull that shit and the Morphs from being sold over the counter, even better than pulling off the Vals and the Xans. The stuff is no damned good for you. I'm sure the OP doesn't need a lesson in Ibu's like the dude above gave him bout the nurofens but Ibu beats the hel_l out of Deine. Slam dunk a couple thousand millies of Ibu everyday. I'd hate to be you when you come off those vikes dude; gonna need a whole new thread for that one. Oucharama man but I know you can do it. The Dude is always around with top shelf pointers when you're coming off that shit. That is the most brutal experience one can have in life I think, withdrawing from vikes. I don't even want to think about it. I can see why the OP needs to be set up way ahead of time. The pain from the withdraw makes any other pain feel like a mosquito bite. I think the opiate drugs like deine, morphs and oxys should only be available for terminally ill patients who are gonna die soon anyway. If you're gonna live, take Ibus or anything but opiates

  9. The Dude came here on his way to India not realizing he needed a visa prior to boarding the Plane to Calcutta. Had to go to India embassy to get visa, which took 3 days. Got visa but decided to stay in BKK and burn India tickets in ceremonial burning at the Thermae amongst family and friends. Never been to India but been in BKK ever since

  10. The only time The Dude was ever paranoid about his American government was btw 1993 and 2001. In other words, the Clinton years. The Dude knew that that elitist administration was out to get regular American dudes like The Dude. The Dude was paranoid then and he was not digging the shady goings on at the time

  11. This is a great growing forum that The Dude has been reading and contributing to for about 2 years I guess. There are some really nice admins and mods here for certain: Dr Pat Pong, Huski and Peace are a few off the top of my head. However there were 1 or 2 nasty apples in the past and I see they have been weeded out and even banned in one case that I know of. I tip my hat to the forum creator and how this thing has developed into the largest online Thailand forum ever. The Dude can dig it.

  12. Only seen one or 2 types of vibratos here. They are called "back massagers" or something. Were sold on Sukhumvit outside vendors. The Dude bought one for his gf and she digs it when The Dude can't get the job done, which is most of the time. LOL. Oh well, nothing a sexy dvd and a vibrato can't cure

  13. Wharton School professor arrested at Dulles airport on child-porn allegationsBy Robert Moran

    INQUIRER STAFF WRITER

Lawrence Scott Ward, a Wharton School professor emeritus, was arrested Sunday morning at Washington's Dulles International Airport after he allegedly entered the country with videos of him engaged in sex acts with underage boys.

Ward, 63, who has a 1999 Montgomery County conviction for attempting to solicit sex from an undercover agent posing as a 15-year-old boy, was arriving on a United Airlines flight from Brazil when he was flagged in a sex-predator crackdown for having taken "excessive" trips to Thailand, a haven for sex tourism, authorities said.

In Ward's luggage, customs agents discovered three mini-DVDs showing the renowned marketing professor performing sex acts with boys who appeared to be between 14 and 16 years old, according to an affidavit filed in federal court.

Marc Raimondi, a spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, declined to comment.

I think they should put this jagoff's balls in a vice but I am a little concerned about the protocol used to catch him. I have over 20 Thai entry stams in my PP and will go home to the US in Nov. I have nothing to hide but it will be interesting to see how thet screen me. I'll post an update.

  14. The Dude knows exactly what the OP is talking about. The infamous gang of 'em on Soi 11 outside the Grand Prez are especially annoying and The Dude don't dig 'em. Walked by them 1000 times and they still try and capture The Dude for a ripoff fare. One time for fun I negotiated with one on Soi 5 who was trying to do the massage/jewelery scam. He said 20 baht, The Dude says too much, 10 baht, too much, 5 baht, too much, all the way down to 1 baht. But one thing is for certain, they aint worth getting verbal with. They, as has been said, are looking for those people just off the plane in BKK for the 1st time. These people seem to dig the Tuk Tuk ride around Sukhumvit with driver doing Tuk Tuk wheelies. I always chuckle when I see farangs in the area riding in them cause you know they just got here

  15. To put things in better perspective:

As a non-working wife in the US I got an allowance of $40 a week from my husband. He paid all the bills, and also clothing as needed -I'm no shopper so not a big expense. With that $40 weekly I frequently accumulated close to $200 before I would deposit it back into the joint account with the understanding that I could use that sum for some big-ticket purchase I might want without any consultation with him.

If I couldn't spend $40 a week in the US, how is any wife spending over $100 a week in Thailand? The only Thai wife I know who spends that much (and more) a week is losing it all at cards. I suggest he lower the allowance to 5000 baht a month, find out if she is gambling, and reconsider his marital status if lowering her allowance in order to pay the bills is such an issue.

The thing that needs to be realized here is that there is a very real difference btw what a Thai wife does with her cash vs the average US wife. The Thai wife normally helps out her family who have a fraction of the income of an average US family. Thus what would the Thai wife do with that whopping $100/week? More than likely helping out her not-so-well-off family. This is a deed worthy of a rather large Dude shovel as it is a diggable thing for the Thai wife to do. The Dude hands over 5K per month to his hot gf solely for the gf to hand over to her family. The Dude does this with shovel in hand. The Dude knows this cash is well spent (said hot gf has child the said hot gf's family takes care of). In addition to this 5K, The Dude hands over an additional 11K to hot gf for her to use as she pleases. The Dude wishes that his hot gf would save more of this cash than she does but this is out of The Dude's control. The Dude's hot gf likes to buy useful things like clothing, handy craft supplies and items for The Dude and hot chick's household. The Dude's hot chick does not drink so money is not wasted on that sort of thing. This cash windfall for The Dude's hot gf is her cash and The Dude never asks for her to pay for bills or food. The Dude would like to extend a handout of shovels to all who hand over cash to hot gfs and wives and know where this cash is going. Said gfs and wives must be loyal and faithfull to be worthy of said cash.

To the OP: The Dude feels strongly that your 500 baht reduction in weekly shellout is reasonable and your wife should understand. The Dude stresses the word should. The Dude feels that folks telling you to tell her to take it or leave it are unreasonable. There are more delicate ways to handle it. Dig on maestro with a shovel of course
