  1. so instead of using the normal way to pay like at Makro, you scan their code and hit next.. they are asking us to go in My QR and we enter the price and they scan? out of those two options, this is definitely the worst one. job well dumb.
  2. you shouldn't need an agent and price is ridiculous, I got two bank accounts on Tourist visas and then one more on Elite (Tourist visa also) Bangkok Bank would normally make an account for you if you have someone Thai that has an account with BKK bank vouch for you. Was just a random friend that came with me and brought her bank book and ID. They will say they "can't do it" because they don't want to bother with it or don't know how to do it but normally with a bit of pressure they will. If I remember correctly they wanted 10k deposit which could be taken off the same day if you wanted but that might have been Kasikorn I was never on work permit or non-immigrant visas and I have 3 accounts, no agents nothing.
  3. Hmm, I know this is a thread from Jan 2023 but if anyone sees this it might help. The issue with Kasikorn and BKK Bank apps (and other Thai apps that are "missing") is that for some reason they directly do not allow Google accounts set outside of Thailand to download the app. There is of course a way around that, you COULD change your region to Thailand but that might prevent you from using apps back home and it can only be changed once a year Other one, very easy with an Android phone. You can download the .apk (installer file) from a third party website and just install it directly (sideload). I am sure this is somehow possible with Apple phones but I don't use them so .. The first time I was at BKK bank she asked me directly if my phone account was outside Thailand, I said yes and she said "oh then can not!" and continued the paperwork nonsense. Within about 3-4 minutes, I had went on Google and found their app on apkmirror (I think it was, was 13 years ago), downloaded it and sideloaded it. Showed it to her saying "This app?" and she was very surprised. Works perfectly fine, usually does not update by itself. K Plus was the same (and PEA Smart Plus also) Might be worth saying that if you have a two sim cards in your phone, you must be connected to the internet on mobile on the sim card that is with your phone number registered with the bank. I have my old number from a decade and a half ago that I use for incoming calls (but nothing else) and had to get a 2nd SIM for some promotion from DTAC/3BB that gives me 20GB a month of mobile data and it will not activate for Kasikorn OR Bangkok Bank with that one. So every time I change phone, factory reset or reinstall the app I must put some money on my prepaid number just so i can get a package to use internet on it.. and it's only for the first "activation" which is stupid since they use SMS 2FA anyways. Sometimes I even have to remove the other sim card completely just to complete their stupid verification.
  4. I would suggest setting up your own "free" Plex Server (or Jellyfin, which is totally free, no premium features) Basically just putting movies/tv shows into folder and pointing the app at it (there are tutorials on Youtube). Then it downloads all the covers and movie descriptions for you and you use the web app/tv app (or mobile app) to view your movies. You would likely want a hard drive dedicated to it but that is about it. Then the problem you can have within a few days is having too many movies and shows to watch
  5. Haven't read the whole 45 pages but did the first 3-4 and then last 5. I have an Elite Visa from 7 years ago, it's still valid for another 13 years (5 years a pop) but I bought it when it was 1 million baht for 20 year (the absolutely NO fluff one) Before that, I used to be on 6 months multiple entry tourist visas which I would leave and come back last day of the six month to get an extra 2 months + 1 extension and then went home --which always cost me more thank 50k. The METVs for me were a ±3 weeks trip back home, a 4000 baht visa application and then waiting + risking getting declined. Would last me for 9 months and rinse/repeat. Just with applications and extensions fees they would be easily be ±13,000 THB a year including stupid trips to Myanmar border (4h drive) and 700 baht "fees" And then add the plane trip both ways which took 3 days each and an overnight train, always about 45-50k and give or take 8k for the train (and headaches that come with both) With Elite, I paid about 50,000 per year worth, it was worth it at the time.. not so much anymore as Elite prices have been raised quite a bit since then, it is now 5m for 20 years.. (250k a year), 2.5m for 15 years (166k a year), 1.5m for 10 years (150k a year) and 900k for 5 years (180k a year). Note, the numbers don't make sense, why would you want 20 years for 5 millions if you can get two 10 years for 3 millions? Obviously, paying 10k a 5 year stamp would be a better option for me (2000 baht a year) even if I did go outside say for a day every 6 months, might cost me total of 10k with some cheap trip and accommodations. So a lot of rambling maybe, but "cheap" elite cost me Total before, about 65k a year. lots of headache, chances to get declined at borders/visa applications. Total now, 51,900 per year (50k visa, 1900 baht extension yearly) but no headaches, online 90 days etc. DTV would cost me ±10k a year with two cheap flights/hotels once per 6m. So this means this is give or take 20% of the price I paid for Elite or 6.6% of the current price for a double 10 year Elite visa. (the most cost effective one) Easy win if you can make it work!
  6. Phetchaburi but the 3rd submit was the charm. rejected, rejected, approved! haven't changed a single thing.
  7. I'm curious if anyone knows what this is about, I have had the same address for several years, once in a while they will reject my application sometimes twice in a row but then usually works. I get rejected twice this time I'll probably try again cause I only got time to go see them on Tuesday but this "error" is worrying. what does that even mean? I had a look and the last time I got rejected (in March) it was the same error then i resubmitted and they accepted. for those not aware, you only have to put your passport number and country and click on the magnifying glass and it would pull all your info from last submission so I am not typing or editing anything just submitting (like I always did).
  8. I had some of that fun last month or so too, wanted to transfer from Bank but it said I had to wait 2-3 days to do a 2nd transfer because the first one was too close to the 2nd I was trying to make.. (a day or two before, can't recall). So I thought I would use one of the other option which is the email transfer system we have back home, it said it would take up to 5 minutes.. so I was like.. fine. I do it, the money disappears from my account instantly (I click that I completed and then the next page tells me it will take up 3 days, so much for 5 minutes. I messaged support cause I "kind of" needed the money now.. not that it was a big issue but by the time they replied (about a day and a half later) the transfer was already done. That's all fine and dandy but, I was expecting 5 minutes when the normal transfers take 15 seconds. Couldn't get the money when i needed it (to transfer to help a friend that was in a bind)
  9. I didn't see none of that no, a little walk in temperature check booth, looked like a metal scanner from airport and an actual xray machine to scan backpacks is all i encountered there. maybe different entrances have it but i didn't see nothing.
  10. well, I went last Thursday, no tests, no form, no temp check. i did have to go through a little metal detector airport style thing and walk through another one and that was it. so much fuss over nothing.
  11. yeah you'd think that but I had a Thai lady here over the weekend and was explaining what she needed to do with me on Monday (tell them it was accepted before and that I was getting annoyed with it) so i wrote passport number, put country, clicked the search thing, it auto filled (exactly the same as it was before) and next day, it was accepted.. the same information as was rejected 2 days before. gotta love consistency! to be honest, i'm thinking of getting on Malaysia trip for a few hours so i can get a new entry date, new TM6 (mine is falling apart) and whatnot. maybe next month!
  12. yep and it was the same information as the first 3 times they declined me.. so 1 out of 5 on the new system I wrote before i went to immigration and pushed a bit and some old lady came out with a printout of my applications with some check marks on it, must have been her that declines/approve them.. quite a pain really, would be much simpler if the site told you why it was rejected. I feel like i'm annoying them when going there but my info hasn't changed in almost 10 years so, not sure what their problem is. so in a few days imma bring my laptop and we can do it in front of her (its auto filled anyways) and i'm sure it will "magically" get approved with the same info. just to get declined in 3 months again, of course.
  13. well well, I was advised that my 90 days report would be soon, figured i'd test the system again (it worked for the first time 3 months ago) I went on, logged in, put my passport number and country and clicked the looking glass icon which autofilled all my stuff exactly as it was accepted before I submitted it as is and it was rejected. job well dumb
  14. hey, could you confirm something for me? I have to go to CW in like 3 weeks for a sticker to be put in my passport, i have an appointment. however, they sent me this in the last email "All visitors at the immigration bureau (Chaeng Wattana Immigration office) are required to present proof of negative ATK Test (taken no more than 7 days) and pass through the thermo scanner for temperature checking before entering the building. This requirement will be effective until further notice. Please be informed that you will be required to prepare proof of your ATK test in order to enter Building B (Gate number 2) for your appointment. You will also be asked to fill in a health screening form (which would take approximately 3 minutes). Without proof of ATK test, you will not be allowed to enter the building, and your appointment will be automatically rejected." is this really being enforced? they sent me a picture of an ATK test with a date written on it and name signed.. it's kind of stupid as it doesn't prove anything but.. I don't want to be turned around for not having one, quite the trip for me
