Blimey just as well my mate Dave didn't know that .. He took a discreet handbag style buzzer over for his bird who recoiled in horror when she first seen it branding it a " danger motor " and refused to even remove it from the packaging .. Dave took it back at the end of the trip .. On his return to T/land a few months later he thought he'd try again but got the same response off his girl .. No way .. So at the end of that trip it had to do a second return trip back to blighty still in its box .. It must have been the most well travelled vibrator around at the time .. But hey could've been worse at least he weren't stop by Customs ..

haha, I am not surprised at this story as I brought some myself and even just talking about them gets them angry sometimes and you get the "I don't like toys!" or "I don't need toys I only need you!"

they never tried them before, it's illegal and they act like it's the devil (just like the mom in the Waterboy movie, lol)

once they understand it's not a replacement then.. practically sure if given the chance, 100% of them would have probably stole it from me

  2. in my case, the owner of the building I lived in was some dude I never met that lives in Bangkok and the lady that rents from him subrents me the room.

it's absolutely impossible to get him to add me to the book or get a copy (or get anything from him) from what i understand.

so once or twice I had to ask a motorbike taxi guy to bring his home book and ID and say that i live at his house which is not recommendable but.. that was the only option for me.

I will need to get a residence certificate to change a bike from a Thai name to me this Tuesday and they always give me a hard time..

even if my TM6, TM30 and drivers license have my correct address (never changed)

by the way, sometimes you can get one from the local police station.. I had that done twice in a hurry and they charged me 1000 baht (usually 500 at immigration)

both of those, you don't get a receipt because I am pretty sure they are supposed to be free.

wish the "NO TIP" thing would make them start giving them free again but hey

  3. yep, print power of attorney forms, fill them properly for each separate uses, sign them and courrier them to someone you trust.

they can sell your condo, sell your bike.

any amount can be bought in bitcoin with a little bit of a fee, you cash wherever you want

failing that: anyone with enough time and your debit card can drain your accounts slowly but surely

Chiang Mai is history for me. In talking with a well known poster via messaging on TV forum the poster basically told me that they are literally captives in chiang mai. The poster said her husband finishes his walk around chiang mai before 7 am and the start of the insane commute into the city with all the resultant air pollution being spewed from all sorts of vehicles. The poster and her husband are basically captive in their condo hold up in their room with air filters and a/c running to clean the air. The poster said they exercise in the gym in their condo so as to avoid going outdoors. When they go outside they take the large blue a/c buses or grab cab to avoid the foul air from all the tuk-tuks and songtaews and many other assorted vehicles spewing their toxic and poisonous exhaust into the air. To me this is unacceptable to be held prisoner in your condo and you can't even go outside to enjoy yourself. This is a hell of a way to be retired and I refuse to be subjected any further to the complete insanity that is going on. It is obvious nothing will ever get done because it all has to do with money and greed and burn those fields so more crops can be grown so more money can me made. So many innocent folks will die over time as a result of this out of control burning  but the prevailing mindset is that it is a cost to do business. and it doesn't impact the big players who are insulated from this insanity. I have also had enough of all the tuk-tuks and songtaews spewing their foul exhaust into the air and my time in chiang mai is ending. When I first came here 9 years ago I did have a little taste of what made chiang mai so special and I truly loved it. It was a magical place and  I loved exploring the many surrounding areas. Unfortunately each year that passed the conditions in chiang mai have worsened and now it is time to leave before I ruin my health totally. I feel bad for so many countless good people in chiang mai who are working or going to school to try and make a better life for themselves and are trapped here. I am thankful for my time in chiang mai but it is definitely time to leave.

a year ago I used to live in Pai and there was some guy on a popular Facebook group that was constantly telling people to move away from the region for these months but he kept getting told to shut up by practically everyone.

everything he said happened and then worse, meters went all the way up to 470 I believe

for about a month and a half, all I would do was get up, take a shower, head downstairs to in my office (same house, just separated by stairs) and stay near the air purifier all day at the computer

I was absolutely not going to go walk or drive around anywhere in this smog

If I wanted to go to the market, we would go out at night around 10pm with the scooter and those proper masks always on. (hate those)

I'm a runner and quite fit which made my lungs better at processing air.. but it also makes it worse for me when there is polluted air.

before I left, I remember walking and you could SEE the smog within 100 meters and the short walk home - 3km (short for me) would leave me out of breath

I had to leave the girl I was with behind as she had a long term contract in the region, she wouldn't believe I would leave just for my health and thought i had someone waiting for me here (nope)

here's a screenshot of how it was yesterday in Pai too (she sent it to me)

  5. I just bought an ABS Aerox yesterday.

I asked on the forums and was told it was a total "no go" for tall riders but.. I'm 191cm and barely touched my knee on the left side box once when i hit the break a little hard and the pinion lady pushed me up the seat.

some other guy about my height said when he gets on he sometimes hit his knees on fairings but.. I am tall enough to be able to put my leg over the whole bike from the back haha

love the auto off as well.. was a bit confused with how the button for keyless was (have to press it and wait a bit for key to be scanned before doing anything)

was in a hurry to drive it back from Bangkok so it seemed like a rough ride with passenger.. but rode it normal speeds last night alone and it's really normal.

have driven PCX, Wave, Exciter, M-Slaz and the other smaller ones and prefer Aerox.

never tried Forza or NMax but those look like battle tanks compared to Aerox.

tomorrow going to Yamaha dealership to get me a cover and check for what they have for options out of curiosity then a proper wash since I rode it hard yesterday from Bangkok was on hurry to get back home before dinner. haha

  6. U turns like the ones in the videos are usually fine but not when people drive like this, usually they have a lane pushing a bit on the right side but I am 100% sure that some people think it is the "fast lane" and just hits people from behind

I used to live in Mueang Phetchaburi where they had this, which is not a round about - more like an 8 with a central wall but worked very well as it was.. it is mirrored on the other side.

also, you can move around by clicking around and see things like this:

where she thinks she is going, I have no idea

  7. I haven't read all 36 pages but the issue that I find with services similar to AirBNB is that it raises the prices of renting for locals through the roof.

in Cha-am we have sois are perpendicular to the beach roads which are filled with little houses with 1-2-3 rooms, very simple houses.

walk around during the week and 90% of them will be gate locked and empty. I once inquired about how much they wanted to rent such little houses monthly and after calling about 10 of them, my friend was constantly told that they were not interested in renting monthly OR that the rent was something like 25,000 baht per month.

I live in a simple bachelor style with bathroom and it is much closer to the beach and I don't even pay 20% of that price, so I had a laugh and gave up.

if I really wanted I could just rent 2 extra rooms where I already live and have 3 bedrooms, 2 bathroom for 10,000 but I'm a single guy.

the reason why the above situation exists is because almost every single weekend and holidays, the owners rent those little houses for 2500-5000 baht per night to the mostly Thai tourists coming from Bangkok. so they make 5000-10000 baht per weekend (per house - some of them own a few).

why would they rent monthly for its worth (more like 10,000 baht) when they can make 25,000 to 50,000 per month already?

Went to buy a new laptop last year at an unnamed well-established IT store branch.

As we're activating Windows together with staff-

    Guy: "What else you want?"

    Me: "What do you mean?"

Guy: "We have everything. You want Photoshop also?"

    Me: "How much?"

    Guy: "It free"

    Me: "Huh? It pirated?"

    Guy: *shrugs shoulders*

    No f**s given here

not wrong, ex gf got bought an overpriced gaming laptop by family (for work) and it came with no OS

the dunce at the shop installed her a pirate copy of Windows 10, wasn't activated.

I got a W10 key for $10 online and wiped whatever they had put on there.

Pcx is like riding granddads armchair....

    Aerox feels great

    I'm.only 6" and I love mine

If your 6"4 or have longer legs than body it maybe problematic but for me it's great, Pcx is overpriced too, with abs it will be even more overpriced

yep. the reason I mentioned PCX was because I rode one before and could just sit back on the seat a bit.

very likely to get the ABS Aerox,  can get them slightly used 2nd hand for 55k very easily (73k new)

When we face time I can see the whole room, I mean if the guys there he would have to go out of his way to hide like a idiot, would you do that?

last year I was going down on a girl then she got a video call from her boyfriend, I didn't stop.

I wouldn't say I was hiding like an idiot, lol.

  11. I'm 191cm (6'3) tall and have been looking into buying an Aerox (like before the end of the week.)

sadly haven't had the chance to sit on one yet

my question is, how different is the seating position compared to a PCX 150? should I expect to have issues with knee clearance (or other things) with an Aerox?

in case of yes, would getting a seat made/modified be expensive to fix the issue?

I've ridden a Honda Wave 125 extensively before and also an Exciter.

Wave 125 - much better brakes than the 110 Supercub, punchier, taller gearing, rides like a real bike (because it is), but no luggage space under seat and looks like a motorcycle taxi .... but really is the best option in Thailand.

I owned 2 different new Wave 125s (2014 and 2016 I think) and they had storage big enough to store my motocross style helmet, is that not the case anymore?

also, how tall are you? because I was planning to buy an Aerox but I am 191cm and that comment about hitting knees hmm

I used to run a PCX 150 for a bit and maybe it's because the seat is much less slanted and I could sit back but haven't been close to hitting anything.

    5. Pollution. They use a lower grade of diesel. So, there is alot of soot in the air. The PI has an epidemic of lung diseases and respiratory diseases. Even on many of the populated islands. The hospitals are full of people who are having a very hard time breathing. It is a real issue there. Lung disease is at an epidemic level, though the authorities do not like to talk about it, and publish very little information on it.

    agreed.

I was in Cebu city for 3 weeks once and it was the only place in the world where I blew my nose and it was almost gray coming out.

Do it if you want. 600 baht per hour I think is the government rate. As for the work permit, I have done work (both paid and voluntary) for the police. I have told them I have a work permit and they told me we wouldn't mind if you didn't. we just want your help. Of course much better to have a work permit.

your work permit permits you to work at only one job location.

it has zero value otherwise and can't be used to work somewhere else

Yep, had same experince dogs are used to cars/scooter zooming by, or people walking...Thais just don't really jog in house areas so that foot pounding/scraping sound just sets them off.

About to get a battery for my high frequency dog ear zapper device as I've been stuck in a corner a few times...thankfully 95% of Thai dogs are all bark and no bite in house areas for whatever reason....from my exp. anyway.

I know it's an example number but even if 95% of dogs wouldn't bite then on a run, I would still get probably 20 that would bite me then given that every 50 meters or so there is another pack of dog protecting "their territory"

personally, I would find a strong water gun, mix some ammonia and dump a few hot peppers in the ammonia/water tank and whatever would make them regret getting it in their face.

when I lived up North, the girl I was living with at the time had her shoes torn apart and she thought it was a dog (or cat).. It was taken overnight from the outside (but upstairs) part of the house we were renting and 99% of the time the little gate was closed

she was livid, got some powder somewhere, it was some kind of pesticide if i understood correctly.. all I remember is it smelled bad and seemed to attract flies.

she put that in chicken in a little bag and left that outside.  next day I found a cat had went for the chicken and made it only about 20 meters before dying while trying to get out of the property, halfway under main gate.

cat was totally rigid and foaming at the mouth

Spot on. Additionally a free vpn is likely to be data limited.  I have windscribe free and have managed to get the limit up to 60 Gigs month, so that might be an option for the op.

yep, there are speed and/or data limits on the free ones (or they snoop) and 60gb is literally nothing.

that Metro game that was released like yesterday alone was 55 GB

in Thailand I never bothered with VPN but from what I am told back home in America/Canada the RIAA (or whatever) monitor certain sites, put fake torrents and then push the ISP to send legal notices

wasn't like that when I left but my friend said there's no downloading anything without a VPN
